Are there any happy MTs are Nuance? I am considering going back to Nuance part time for extra income. I left on good standings. Are there any MTs making line count and are happy with Nuance? Would love to know before I jump back in the fire. Thanks!

What platform are you on and do you have an expander, if so, are you using it to the max. Do you have a gaming keyboard especially for editing and use the additional keyboard functions to macro doctors and switch keys around to your advantage? Let me know, you can do anything in god we trust.

Yes i use an expander.. and to the fullest i believe. I do not have a gaming keyboard. I just can't get my line count up without making silly mistakes especially on ESLs.

Are you saying the only way to make line count is to get a "gaming keyboard" and "switch keys around"? What has this industry come to that people can't get their line count by simply doing their job. It's crazy.

Getting up to speed with technology IS the job, tho - just as in any other field. nm

my own service. I JUST this quarter made line count and received a quarter bonus. Work smarter, not harder. Concentrate on routines of doing things, your OWN routines, especially in header areas where most mistakes are. And learn to keep your fingers on the keyboard and not the mouse. You'll get it, hang in there. Promise.

Agree with her. Don't give up It will come. Took me awhile too. I don't have a gaming keyboard or anything like that. I just try and focus on my work. I don't spend a lot of time dwelling on blanks the first go round and then just go back and normally can fill them all or at least the majority back in with no difficulty.

that they did not fire you because you could not make your line count. I keep worrying about that. I just have so many ESLs that are so darn difficult to understand and a lot of them are not on VR and I am one of those people who like VR. Hopefully it will all come with time.

I have been working for Nuance since July of last year. Have been doing this kind of work for 14+ years. It is not the best place to work, nor the worst, I should know. I have been around the block. Way I see it, it is a job, you can make as much money or more than you could at walmart or micky-Ds. I have not left yet and I lost 30k a year coming here, as my hospital I worked for was taken over by them. The money is not that good, but better than nothing. I just do not have it in me to change to doing something else yet, so I have stayed. Most of the time they leave me to do my job. All in all, I am okay with it.

I have never worked for Nuance, but the other large one. I was also outsourced and stuck it out for the same reason, "you make about as much as you would any place else." Unless of course you have a degree or trade of some sort.

I think any MT job is what you make of it. If you are able to maintain focus and steer free of distractions, you can make a reasonable paycheck.

Sounds like you have the right idea with all the keyboard shortcuts etc. I would say if you keep that mindset, you should do just fine. I have found that I have always been left alone to do my job also. I just punch in and do whats expected of me and aim to produce good quality work and make a decent line count. I work for MM, but its the same concept.

Started working for Nuance recently part time for extra money. So far so good, they leave me alone to work, plenty of work, no FIESA on my account, nice TSM. Like you said and medical monkey said, I can make more doing this than Walmart or entry level work, no office politics and no commute. For now, I'm gonna stick it out.

I still get QA'd, it just does not go through FIESA, that's what my TSM said. I haven't been here long enough to see a formal audit yet, so we'll see. When I was on full QA, the people auditing me did not seem nitpicky, but maybe that's just me.

It just seems that the guidelines to receive the bonus should be fair and equal for all employees.

still learning the ropes. Maybe her team does not have FIESA for a reason...maybe Nuance is making some changes? Maybe she is working in one of the areas recently bought out like Accentus? and no FIESA in place yet? All sorts of reasons why her team has no FIESA. She did say she is still QA'd.

Also, Transcend did not get the Nuance bonus until January of 2013 when they were switched to FIESA.

I am just saying the bonus should be based on the same criteria for all employees.

Don't we all have the same standards, FIESA or not? I am not 100% QA anymore, but still have reports checked probably one a day, haven't gotten a formal audit report yet, but would expect to be scored the same as everyone else to be eligible for the bonus.

typical. It's possible that they are telling people no FIESA at first because new-hires dont get it until after a month or so. She is new, I dont think she is arguing anyone's point. In another month or two she may very have FIESA like everyone else.

However, that elusive bonus at Nuance is a nice carrot and I think the PTO is better at Nuance too. But my TL at Nuance is not nice at all and my TCM at MModal is super sweet and I always have work on my main account at MModal and run out daily at Nuance.

If I had to choose (and I do real soon here), I am leaning towards MM.

How would you say EditScript compares to Fluency - in terms of your line counts etc? (sm)

I've seen at least two people here who said they were simultaneously working for both and that the VR EditScript was so much better that they were able to make much higher line counts at Nuance.

(I've never worked for either, but those kinds of comparisons always catch my attention -- I figure someone who simultaneously works for both is about as close to apples vs. apples as it's possible to get!)

Just being in the Word environment makes it easier and I do think it delivers a more accurate product to edit, especially formatting wise.

However, I don't really see a huge difference in my line counts between the two. I think that might be because I have better accounts at MModal than Nuance. I am on a real stinker account at Nuance that is pretty much 100% ESL.

I basically have the same exact line count on both. I also make more per line for straight transcription at MModal and I do get more straight typing at MModal. My paychecks are bigger from MModal and I work the same number of hours.

Love MModal too and have great line rates. Unfortunately - I am quitting because

I got a new job that I cant pass up, full-time, huge multispecialty clinic that will train me to be a medical office assistant, Mon-Fri, day shift of course. I have a part-time IC job lined up that I will work maybe 14 to 16 hours a wk, because I did'nt want to quit MT cold turkey (done it for years and LOVE it).

I wish MModal had part-time IC, but unfortunately they dont.

and making weekly line quota, QC makes me look like a genius, QA makes me look incompetent, so I am not sure if I can really make this work. My company got bought out last year and I have been on this system since January. It is not a bad company but not sure it is possible to meet all their expectations. May be looking for some other kind of work.

I filled out a "profile" at Nuance a few weeks ago, not sure if I was interested in a job there or not. I was contacted a week later with a couple of offers pending passing their test. So much negativity on this board. Is anyone happy here? I can say that I am grateful for my job here at Nuance. I don't feel the QA is out to get me. My mistakes are my mistakes. Work is there. My TSM is wonderful. I get good PTO hours. I have had some bad QA weeks and have been frustrated but I have sat down and focused on how to make this better. I'm actually getting ready to take the Nuance test this evening and started reading the posts and now I'm having second thoughts. I would be working on the clinic side from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST Sun-Thurs and now I'm wondering if I'll be wasting my time since it seems like there won't be any work. I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS. I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis. Communication flows freely and efficiently. My team leader and 2 shift leads are EXCELLENT managers in my opinion. Everything I invest in my job comes back to me and then some.
