I assume you mean happy w/our jobs VS happy in general. Makes sense that most posters here are venting and/or experiencing something in their career and/or job situation and the "happy" ones don't have the need to post, probably mostly come here to review posts and then log off. By the way, I'm quite happy with my job.

It's the PURSUIT of happiness we have the right to, not happiness per se.

I am very happy here after working for some other national companies. Better pay, RARELY OUT OF WORK, schedule that works for me, PAY ALWAYS ON TIME, good accounts, great CCM/CTL, good communication. Much more good than bad in my opinion compared to some of the other companies I have had experience with. Others can flame away all they want and accuse me of being management, lying, whatever, but it does not change the facts and how I feel about MQ as it has always been good to me. To the ones at MQ who are so miserable here, my only question is why do you stay? If you are a good MT you should be able to find some place else that is a better fit for you. I just don't understand why someone would stay at a job they are miserable with.

I feel for those in SE, but how can anyone stay at a company with no work? I certainly could not afford It. I quit one company right away because of no work and another who could not give me a paycheck on time, and another one with no work and wanted me to change my schedule all the time in order to have work. I was never out of a job because I sought out and found other work right away before quitting. I finally landed at MQ and have had no problems with any of the above for the last 3-1/2 years, plus I make more on ASR than the other companies. I know there is a big difference in regions, just glad I landed in a good one.

How is the North East region? - Think I will be in that region

I'm in the north region and the work is up and down. However, compared to some of the other regions, the NJA is a lot less here and more OT offered.

Good question, why stay if you are not happy? I am working on that. Deciding whether to leave MT world totally and find something else or just find another company. I am weighing my options.

MQ is not totally evil, but they have not been totally honest with me and my pay has decreased over the years. I am now in a position, and probably was from the start of the pay decreasing, that financially it is causing hardship and I need to be making what I used to make.

But mostly, they have not been honest with me, and it cost me 1,000 when I came back after being gone for a year. I don't trust them anymore. And I don't really know who it is I don't trust, because the ones in management having to be the messenger and deliver the bad news are just trying to keep their jobs, which I am sure are not production pay, which also I have a problem with, way too many people at MQ on salary.

I am a good MT and I will either land with another company or get out of this business totally. Think I will maybe find a job where I can have Christmas off and not have to be at work, with no work, and then make it up on my own time. There are a lot of those jobs out there.

Feel very grateful if you are one of the happy ones, but don't be too hard on the others. You are not in their shoes and there are a lot of us in those shoes.

All I have to say is "just wait." I used to feel the same way when I used to read how many MTs had NJA, but then it happened to me. Right now I'm struggling to make above minimum wage.

Why do we stay? Like you said the grass is not greener on the other side. However, I will be looking soon, rather work for peanuts in a new company than one I worked in for 13 years.

I will accuse you of being management. The Federal Department of Labor is investigating Medquist currently and has given all employees benefits under the Trade Act due to the outsourcing of virtually every transcriptionist job to India. If I was a good MT....Medquist would not outsource? Ha!

If there are any happy MTs out there, it's only for a while until they lose their accounts and/or have NJA. I really don't see how any MTs whether it's at MQ or any other MTSO can say they are truly 100% happy with all the "writing on the wall" about the demise of our profession. JMO, so don't bash - thx.

are we happy at the Q. It seems ever other week someone stirs the pot asking are we happy at the Q. No, not so much happy with the Q. What are they, the happiness guru? If you are asking if I'm happy in my private life, then yes, I am. My family and I are healthy, I have friends, family and pets whom I love and they love me as well. In my private life I am rich, in my MQ life I'm poor, extremely poor.

So if you are the original poster and/or the happiness guru, be more specific next time. Got a problem with that? Hope not.

I am happy in this field. I am an MT! My accounts are good, work is consistent, my CCM is great, my work support group is OFF THE HOOK...

I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS. I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis. I am surprised at just how many or your are miserable with what you do. I am a new MT ans I am also having trouble finding work. It's not easy. I can see that having editing to fall back on would be good. I have read the posts about don't do this just to work from home. I was laid off as an MT a couple of months ago. I am wondering if there is a single person on this forum who is an MT who is happy with their job (including the miniscule pay that would be appropriate compensation if it were around 1975 rather than 2013 or lived in another country in which one can buy a lot more with 50 cents). Sunday it will be 2 months I have been at my new position since leaving MM. I no longer need to take Prilosec daily and my dr. has decreased my BP med. Furthermore, I was asked after a month if I would like to do full time editing at 6 cpl AND I get paid for every single line I edit....not less than half that MM pays their MMEs. I left MT to work from Hertz at home in April where they hired 64 employees. The week after labor day, without any warning, they called all of us in and laid us off. They took the insurance the same day and gave us our sign on bonus that we had earned and a severance check, provided we signed a covenant not to sue...so it is not only Transcription companies that have no regard for their employees, it is most companies...So I ask myself...Is anybody truly happy with their jobs??? ...
