Nuance at it again QA and production minimums - mt30+years

Posted: Jul 11, 2012

Nuance is at it again. Yesterday HR sent out a memo outlining the production minimums to keep your job. Today I was notified by my TL that I was 6 lines per hour short of the minimum that I am on a performance review for the next 2 weeks to raise it or else it sounds like, I have until the end of the pay period.

Also received nasty email about MUP again. I slowed down as she asked to better by QA score, and that too is in the dumper all of a sudden, and I went over every report a second time to catch errors and I am still not passing. There is no pleasing this company and this will be the first job that I have ever been fired from for not meeting production or QA in over a 30 year career. I now that I am not that bad!!!! Things are not making sense in this company. I hope I can hang on!!!!

The same thing has happened to me. Not on the minimum, but QA rips me a new one. I have almost stopped looking at FIESA. I wish they would fire me. I have been an at-home worker for 17 years. I have had QA scores on other jobs of 100% multiple times. I cannot please NASTY NUANCE. One QA says one thing, the other something else. When I complain to my supervisor (or whatever she is), she tells me to copy the entire thing and send it to her. I have only had 1 reversal. You cannot win. Stop stressing out. I have given up on ever getting so-called incentive. I too have never been fired or had any disciplinary action taken against me, but I wish this company would fire me so I could draw UE and look for another job. They are they worst company I have every dealt with.

Thanks for you kind reply. I have stopped looking at FIESA and after the last report I looked at I did not sign the review line. I am considering not looking at the emails either. I agree they are the worst, and I worked for Medquist years ago and this is the newest low. I gave up on incentive a long time ago. I am stressing since I am the only support for my son and daughter for now. I have started looking at other medical related fields last night. Cannot wait to get out of this field which I loved for such a long time and was rewarding, but not now!!! I would like to see the TL have to work for 4.5 cpl and try to take these fabulous vacations that they are flaunting in our faces and then come back and tell you what a piece of crap MT you are!!!

I feel your pain. i have 2 children in college. If it weren't for my boyfriend of many years, I would be homeless. I am looking for other employment as well, but when you've been doing this for so long, nobody wants to hire you. As soon as I find anything, I'm outta here without notice or kiss my ass. I have NEVER done something like that either. I cannot wait to leave. I also had about 13-14 really great years being an MT and stayed at home with my children. I am ashamed of what this job has turned in to.

Good luck. Don't stress too much because if your health is not good, you can't be there for your children.
This is an example of why I walked from this place. - mt

I will not let myself be abusd by this hole of a company any longer.

They own M-Tech. Talk to the school and see if they can help - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
They own a school. It seems reasonable to think that you could contact the school and get a definitive answer about how you're supposed to do it. Then keep it in writing and use it when you are scored unfairly.

Good luck, MT30+. MT20years, start looking now, - skip the being fired. UE may sound like

a paid vacation, Motel 6-style, but it could be the deepest and most disastrous hole you ever jumped into. You want to get a replacement job, then to quit in good standing. NM

The memo with production requirements to retain our jobs is SO TOTALLY OUT OF THE BALLPARK that it defies common sense. Any company who demands 180+ LPH on the reports that are doled out to us and require most being sent to QA needs to send their corporate people to MT school and place them in the trenches. My God ! 180+ lines...TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS. 100 to 120 LPH is doable. If they want 180 LPH out of us, they had better pull some of the decent reports back from India and give them to us. Appalling.

To Pixie - anon MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Pixie, they (Nuance) told me I should be editing 500 to 600 lines per hour no problem. They said that tons of the MTs do it. I don't believe that for a second.

You are absolutely right..don't believe that garbage for a second. I hope "they" don't believe that anyone can produce 180+ LPH of ESL and horrible others either.

QA nightmare - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I think the QA is set up to ensure we lose bonus. The fact that things are rarely reversed, even when it is proven to be an incorrect score, supports this theory. In addition, the fact that the last week of the quarter's scores cannot be changed regardless but that week of scors is factored into your final score to be eligible for the bonus, stinks to the high heavens.

Nuance treats it's MTs like we are the dregs of the earth. QA is out of control and no one seems to care.

Question - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
The line count of 186 per hour, is that a combo of editing and typing? Is typing weighted heavier (though honestly I type maybe 2 reports a day)?

It doesn't seem overly high for editing. I have worked for other companies that wanted 220 lph.

I do understand, however, the pressure to get QA over 99% and keep line count up. I think the real problem is the QA situation, as in they are power hungry nut jobs in that department.

Has anyone been fired for failing to - SB

meet production goals or not keeping up quality to 99% after the 3-month probation period? Or are these just intimidation tactics? There are so many factors beyond our control that slow us down. . .

PRODUCTION PAY
Nov 02, 2009

I would like to know how MTSO's get away with paying MTs and MT editors not hourly, not salary, but solely on how much they produce like they are working on an "assembly line"!!!  Being paid on how much one produces is "pathetic" and is not paying MTs/Editors based on their "knowledge, skill, or experience", and I think is an injustice to the medical transcription profession as a whole. What happens also when an MT/editor works over 40 hours per week.  By federal ...

Production Req'ts

Well, I'm Under The Gun For My Production.
Sep 14, 2012

I'm at stage 2 now. I've got a conference call for my verbal warning next week. Problem is - I have been in the 'cesspool' for months now. One day I (and apparently everyone else in my group) suddenly had next to no more work from my primary accounts. The account has very apparently gone overseas. Every once in a while 1 report will show up, so I am sure MM has not lost that account. I can see a lone job show up every once in a while in DQM. Since then, I have had no ...

QC Going To Production?
Feb 21, 2015

Is there a date set yet for when QC will be on production? My thought is, if they are going to this and do MLS work as well when no QC available, Nuance probably has to figure out some fancy grid work to figure their pay on this as well. Nuance still hiring like crazy, offering sign on bonuses, recruiting off different web sites, and then some of us sit with OOW, at least on the US only accounts. The last few weeks it has been VERY regular that we run into OOW.  Not even offered to w ...

Why Does It Always End Up Being About Production? SM
Mar 08, 2015

I have never been a top producer, but I have always been consistent and have excellent quality.  All the MTSOs say they want quality but it seems to inevitably come down to producing that line count, no matter what variables come into play, bad dictators, just a bad day, lots of short reports, etc.  All they want is that 250-260 lines edited per day.  I realize there have to be standards and goals but it just seems that in the past copule of years, especially when I worked for Nua ...

Why Is It When You Are Having A Great Production Day,
Jun 07, 2010

the work seems to disappear? I was doing over 400 lph and now no work. This happens every time I have great lph. Can companies do a switch-a-rooney, keeping the work away from people or can the platform be 'fixed' that if you hit a certain lph, no work will download to you? I'm really curious about this. I've been watching this happen for a couple months now. ...

Impossible To Keep Up Production

Production Employees (not IC's): How Much
Jul 13, 2010

The compensation structure and "minimum" hourly or daily production expectations often encourage people in our industry to work unreported hours in order to meet minimums.  You have a day when you get a rash of the account's most trying dictators, for instance, and at the end of 8 hours you realize that you haven't met minimums...so you work another hour, while reporting only the 8 hours. Transcription companies are, of course, aware of this dirty little secret and do nothing abo ...

Low Production Due To IT Issues

Production/proficiency

Got a split report.  Never get them.  Had forgotten what I learned in the 6.1 update so had to find it on MQ Central and re-listen to the blessed instructions.  Took forever as it won't let you fastforward to the part of the instructional that you need.  Don't guess their keystroke monitoring cares about that, nor the time I wasted having to do it (yet again).  ...

Production Scrutiny
Dec 02, 2010

For the life of me I cannot figure out how they justify the manhours being spent to see if we are typing all 60 minutes of each hour without bathroom or snack breaks when we are not paid by the hour.  If we are not typing for 5 or 6 minutes here and there, we are not producing, thus not getting paid line rate.  It only hurts us so why do they even care?  Am I totally stupid?  It affects our benefit rate, still only hurting us.  The only benefit left for this company ...

What Are Your Production Tips?

Another MQ Production Question

Just wondering, what is the quickest movement between phrases when moving around a document to place punctuation, skip markers, etc.  Since none of us are in an office together where we can share this info, wondering if I am missing something.  I was also told cutting and pasting may not be counted in production line.  Anybody know this for sure? How Can We Boost Production When ASR Is So Bad

Production Statistics
Jun 21, 2012

Here's what I think is the reason for the production statistics and what I think is going to happen this summer.  I believe that MM will say they are reducing ASR pay to 4 cpl across the board and that we can all increase production by following the recommendations in their emails.  I hope I'm wrong but if this happens and I get 2/3 of what I am making now, they will get 2/3 of the editing I am doing now until they figure it out and fire me.  ...
