Leaving Nuance is the best thing that ever happened to me. - Life is better now. One thing could make it comple

Somebody fry these bas****s!
Document EVERYTHING! Someone posted about how to save the voice files. Also save your completed document into a Word document so it can be proved that the document was created on a certain date and never modified. Print copies of all correspondence for anything that isn't just a mundane question. Take screen shots or whatever you need to do of FIEFSA or anything else. Challenge all errors. Document dates and times you run out of work. Document it all. Find written proof of the Indian QC outrageous bonus for finding errors on US MTs. Find written proof of all the benefits the Indian MTs get that we don't. Find ANYTHING you can, and save it.
Most importantly, be HIPAA compliant. Make sure your computer is password protected and only used by you if anything at all related to the documents or any correspondence is saved on it. If you live in a household with other people, make sure there is another computer in the household so you can prove yours is just for work. If at all possible, have your home office in a separate room where the door can be locked. If you're going after Nuance, PROTECT YOURSELF.
Back everything up! If they have remote access to your computer, you don't want your proof left on it. Get an external hard drive and add your new stuff to it daily. Only plug it in when you want to transfer stuff to it. If you leave it plugged in all the time, they can have access to what's on it too, so unplug it. Buy a little lock box with a key or combination and keep that hard drive locked up to be HIPAA compliant.
Document everything and protect your own behind.
Then, when you have enough, find a good lawyer and class action them. Any lawyer would be drooling over a potential lawsuit with that kind of money if you have all the proof they need.
Unfortunately when they bought my company they cut my pay 30% and then overstaffed the account so badly that it was more like 50% when I couldn't get enough work on my 12 accounts, so I couldn't stick around long enough to do any of this. I would love to see them go down. It would truly make my life complete.

I've never been interested in getting back at anyone, never wanted to key a boyfriend's car for cheating on me (like the country song), never wished anything bad on anyone. I always just wanted to move on with my life, but this... This is different. It's like they literally suck the life out of you in any way they can.
Yes, revenge IS sweet! Especially when it's on - an oppressive BULLY like Nuance.

I agree: Document, compare notes, record, save, use your calculator, be HIPAA-compliant while doing so, and most importantly, keep a labor attorney on SPEED-DIAL.
And PS: Try to use a separate PC/laptop for your - internet use: These guys all have SPYWARE.

It's in my employer's software, for sure. I figured that out when they once came off in a rather accusatory manner about me posting on MTStars. When I got a small, used laptop to use for email and internet searches, END OF PROBLEM.
Don't do your documenting and labor law internet searches on the same PC you work on. Their IT techs can see every word, and every file in your PC.
Just copy and paste with most platforms. - sm

With Escription they can set it so you can't copy anything off the screen and paste it anywhere else, so if they have that turned on you won't be able to do that. I only stuck around for a short time after I was acquired by Nuance (less than a month with the gigantic pay cut I couldn't afford to take), so I personally can't go into a ton of detail on what you can do on their systems, but just document everything you can and try in any way possible to show that your work is being changed and then your name sent through on it with errors. You might be able to do this with screen shots to get around the copy and paste issue. Just protect yourselves and go after them when you have all the proof you need. If they're changing your work and sending it through with your name still on it (if they are in fact doing that), that's fraud.
I had a disgruntled in-house supervisory doing that to people on my account in the past to try to bring the work back in-house. Can't blame her for not wanting to lose her department for the work to go to these rotten nationals, but still, she ended up fired for fraudulently submitting reports with "errors" on them that she created herself in our names.
Point being, if they are in fact doing all the things people are claimin they're doing, get the proof by documenting absolutely everything and go after them. They bully because they don't think we're brave enough to stand up to them and all their lawyers.

The 6-billion dollar baby is next in line to be sued.
Spoke with an attorney today and the outlook is relatively clear with a strong chance for heavy storms for Nuance very soon.
I personally wouldn't benefit financially, but seeing them fall would be just as good - for me

I didn't play their games and didn't stick around long enough for them to have damaged me where I'd get anything financially, but they certainly inflicted a heck of a lot of emotional distress and caused me to have to go out and find another job after 8 years with the same service before Nuance bought it. They are destroying a lot of people's lives and contributing to this profession being brought down to a typist with a GED education requisite. Seeing them fall, or at least significantly damaged will be far more rewarding to me than the money ever could. And to the person who finally brings the lawsuit, congratulations for taking a stand and you deserve every penny you get.
Also take note of company reviews on websites. - sm

A lot of job hunting and other sites let people rate the companies they work or worked for. I saw someone said way below that they were reading reviews that were glowing from happy Indian MTs, while every American MT had nothing but bad things to say. Print these out or save screenshots of those as well. Anything you can find to show they're trying to drive out Americans and being more lenient on Indian MTs will help show they want to get rid of the US workforce to get the cheaper Indian labor.
I read someone say they found something saying Indian QA percentages were much lower. Print that out too.
See if you can find out how many and which companies they've acquired and poll people to see what changes were made and how many people received pay cuts, etc., that forced them to leave jobs they previously loved and excelled at, like myself.
They aren't being subtle about what they're trying to do, so all of this stuff should be pretty easy to find. I don't know what kind of laws are out there that they're violating - antitrust or whatever - but I have a feeling it's more than one. If Nuance and MModal can at least be stopped from buying up all the competition and driving down prices, it would improve all our lives. I can't live on the 4 col editing BS that they have decided is excellent compensation. A person could edit 2600 lines per day and after taxes not even bring in $100 a day. That's crap and this company is crap.

Has The Same Thing Happened To Court Reporting? Nov 06, 2013Just got to wondering. I know back when I made 50K doing MT, I was told court reporters were making twice that. Before Leaving Nuance Think Of This... Jan 29, 2013I know some peoplea are going to slam me but so be it. I just ask those talking about leaving to consider the following while making your decision:
1. Will the next employer guarantee you won't run out of work or pay you for downtime if you do?
2. Do they give you 401(k) matching at the same level Nuance does or better?
3. Do they pay you the average hourly wage you make for vacation/sick days or do they limiit your dollar amount, even if you normally earn ...
PTO Balance - After Leaving Nuance Aug 03, 2012To those who have recently left Nuance, how long after receiving your last check do you get paid for you PTO balance? Or do you not get that $$?

Thinking Of Leaving TT For Nuance Jul 15, 2011Would that be a bad move? At least if I went to Nuance, I wouldn't have to worry about being bought out! I have worked for TT for three years. I used to love it there. So much work and the overtime bonus was awesome. I work second shift and have for the entire three years and it's really getting to me. Some days I have only 4 or 5 hours of work, which was never a problem until lately. My paychecks are shrinking every month. The rumors goi ...

Leaving Nuance, Have Computer Question... Dec 01, 2014I hope I have posted this on the correct board.
As I do not have a good feeling whatsoever about this new pay plan at Nuance, I am preparing to leave this nasty company after the first of the year and am trying to get everything in order. The first order of business is to buy a new computer. I believe new computers come with Windows 8. Does anyone know if that is compatible with most transcription needs today, or does one have to have Windows 7 installed? If so, is that commercially availab ...
JUST ONE THING, NUANCE... May 24, 2012If you honestly do value your MTs, instead of falling all over yourselves with "thank you for all you do" and telling us how integral we are in the EHR field, the knowledge and accuracy we must possess, etc., ad nauseaum, please, at the very least, reinstate our WMX pay or, ideally, give us back our pay plus a cost of living stipend comparable to most other large and humane megacorporations. Could YOU support yourselves on our pay? Try our job for one pay period. Could you afford your rent/ ...
Another Thing That Ticks Me Off With Nuance.... May 24, 2012I'm on Escription. Now they've changed the header so it fills my screen. I have to ALT-shift-E to get to the report. If there is a doctor's name given and I don't know how to spell it, instead of being able to see the header info, I have to go back and write down the firicken name because yoiu cannot copy and paste in this crap. Before, I could leave the header alone and I'd have about 3 inches at the bottom to start typing or editing. ...
Same Thing At Nuance As M*Modal? Apr 04, 2013I'm in shock about all the layoffs at M*Modal this morning! I'm sure everyone else is too. I'm scared/worried the same thing might happen to Nuance now. I see job postings all the time for both companies. It's crazy how they hire all these people and then layoff a bunch of people. I'm curious to know how many people in total got laid off. Does anyone else see this coming at Nuance? ...
The Saddest Thing About Nuance Apr 14, 2013Nuance certainly has its shortcomings, but I think the saddest thing about this company is how they forced otherwise honest, decent people into being complicit in their deceit.
Before Nuance bought out my old company, I had the pleasure of working with some very good managers. They were upfront, compassionate and understanding. When the merger happened, however, they were put in a position of lying to us all. I still recall the conference calls in which they claimed the ...

QC Leaving?? Leaving More Work For MTs? Jun 14, 2015Sorry QC was put on the grid and suffering losses (like we have), but from my point of view the more of them leave, the more work left for us. Isn't that horrible we are reduced to feeling that way about our co-workers???
Some QC say they are not allowed to do MT unless the account is behind, some say they are allowed when they run out of work. From the length of time we have been suffering from OOW I have to believe they can and do jump in on our work when out of QC ...

Leaving MQ? Jun 14, 2010I've been sending out resumes almost daily for close to 8 months now. I've also been on at least 20 interviews but once they actually realize I've been working at home for almost 20 years, I don't get any job offers because they "want office experience."

Leaving The Q. Jul 20, 2011Just wanted to add my voice to the growing chorus of long-timers leaving the Q finally. The account I worked on for 15 years just up and vanished Monday - without a word to any of us. I applied for, and got, a job offer within minutes of sending my resume. I know MQ has beaten us all down over the years, but there are actually other companies and people who appreciate our abilities and stamina to say with such a company for so many years in spite of it all :) ...
Not Sad To Be Leaving The Q, Sep 10, 2011I've been cleaning out my office to start a new job soon, and I came across some things from the good old days, i.e., before the Q. I found email certificates my first CCM from 10 years ago sent when I kicked it line count and quality-wise. She didn't have to do that, but back then, we got respect as much as we gave it (I was HS back then). I also found some old pay stubs from when I was a tier 1 and just getting into the routine. I now make 1/6 of what I did wh ...
What I've Seen Since Leaving MT May 01, 2012I recently left the MT field but am in a position where I have to review medical records daily. I've come across mistakes that make me question where they came from... was it a VR report that an editor didn't catch... was it a transcription error... or was it a doctor error. Some of the things I've come across were a statement along the lines of "would've healing well"... I figure this was supposed to be something like "wound is" healing well. I came across a discrepancy ...
To Those Leaving MT Sep 13, 2012Curious, as to those getting out of MT, where are you going? I am soooo dissatisfied with this profession today. My wages are half what they were hourly only 4 years ago (VR for me is not profitable). The account specs get more and more complicated and you have to work on at least 5 or 6 accounts to keep work. Add in the hard to understand accents (I mean can't even understand the dictator's name half the time) and the left off demographics, and it is a recipe for low, low wages. I liv ...
I'm Leaving Sep 20, 2012Since ASR and off-shoring came along I have been wanting to leave the industry and after 5 years of procrastinating I finally took the plunge.
