Since ASR and off-shoring came along I have been wanting to leave the industry and after 5 years of procrastinating I finally took the plunge. I have been applying and interviewing and after turning down two offers from different companies I finally accepted a position a couple days ago as a nurse aide with 1/2 hr lunch which food is provided, two 10 minute breaks, every other weekend off, every other holiday off (time and a half pay when I do work holidays), $.30/hr extra weekend pay, 4% monthly wage incentive for showing up on time and working when I am suppose to, assistance with further education and option of full benefits if I work 22.5 hours/week (only 3 days) costing $460/month for family (medical and dental) $1500 deduct. I am very excited to start my new career and further my education. I wish you all who are looking to take the plunge to a new career the very best. Open your options, brain storm, see what you like to do, or what interests you in the slightest, see where you want to go and who you want to be. Just because you don't have money to go to college look into companies who pay for higher education in the same field of your choice, possibly your current employer may have an education program which they just do not disclose to everyone. Good companies are out there, you just have to look hard and keep your options open.
