I've been sending out resumes almost daily for close to 8 months now. I've also been on at least 20 interviews but once they actually realize I've been working at home for almost 20 years, I don't get any job offers because they "want office experience."
I've been so depressed with so many medical offices turning up their noses at me because I've been working from home. I'm quite sure I probably know terminology/anatomy better than most of their adminstrative workers. It seemed all they care about is knowing your way around an office, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and picking up the lobby.
So, after months of these nowhere job iinterviews, I decided to start sending my resume out to non-medical offices to see what would happen. Amazingly, I was called to go in for an interview and was hired on the spot! The owner said she also started out working from home and knows what DISCIPLINE it takes to do it. She said she believed it was much harder to work from home than in an office and knew I'd be a hard-worker.
She's starting me out PT to learn all the different jobs in the office without being overwhelmed. Once I've become acclimated to things, she said I'll go to FT with a raise. She even indicated if I could catch on to the harder of the jobs, the raise would be significant as I would be an invaluable employee at that point. She owns a legal document/court reporting business and, even though I got my paralegal degree many years ago, it's been so long that I'm pretty much a newbie to the legal field.
I'm so excited, I can't believe I got the job!!! I'm only hoping I can go to FT very soon and actually catch on to the jobs with the biggest salary increases. However, even if I'm not quick to learn them, my starting wage is already twice my MQ hourly rate and I'll be getting it every hour regardless. Just knowing that alone seems so surreal to me....I'm going to actually be paid for being at work.
No more lines counts to worry about.
No more schedule changes.
No more QA audits.
NO MORE MQ.
Please wish me luck:)
