Can someone please tell me how long it takes to get 401K after leaving MQ. I have had it. I believe the dictators I am getting were hand picked for me, I can barely make minimum wage. I know this has been asked before, but please answer.

You can probably go straight to the Merrill Lynch website and get your info. The next quarter ends in April. Since no more money will be going into your 401K account from MQ, you have the options of rolling it over into an IRA or another company's 401K or taking a payout which will be highly taxed. It is your money and you can do with it what you want using these guidelines.

As soon as you are officially terminated with HR you can get your 401k. Turned mine over back in 2005 within a month of leavig.

what she is talking about. You CAN tell if suddenly you are either getting unfamiliar accounts or ALL of the known crappy, most difficult dictators.

This is how I think they are handling getting rid of a lot of us. They already have but now they are working on the rest of us. I think getting unfamiliar work and crap work is a way to get their hold-out MTs to quit instead of doing the honest, respectable, right thing and just laying us off so we can at least collect unemployment. I for one am NOT quitting. They will have to fire me first, in which case, I'd get unemployment. If I up and quit, might be tricky to get it. Sorry MQ, you are going to have to fire me....there is NOTHING you can do to make me actually quit.

Please, unless you have other retirement income besides Social Security, think about rolling it over into an IRA. The maximum amount Social Security will pay is #23,900 a year, and I doubt an MT will get anything near that. Unless you really need the cash now, don't let them take a big chunk of it for withdrawing it now.

I've never had to work so hard just to make 1200 lines a day...... or for that matter sit so many hours in front of this stupid computer. I use word expanders and everything I can to gain the advantage but pay goes downhill, the dictation quality is worse than ever and I'm going to go deaf with all the fuzz, static, background noise and other general mayhem that goes on in the background. It's ridiculous. Every time I have to sit and rewind, relisten, relisten is every line I'm not typing, is every minute I'm sitting there longer.

I'm thinking it is time to get out of MTing completely. The whole industry has done a 180 from when I started 20 years ago and the pay is less now than it was back then!

Sorry QC was put on the grid and suffering losses (like we have), but from my point of view the more of them leave, the more work left for us. Isn't that horrible we are reduced to feeling that way about our co-workers??? Some QC say they are not allowed to do MT unless the account is behind, some say they are allowed when they run out of work. Just wanted to add my voice to the growing chorus of long-timers leaving the Q finally. The account I worked on for 15 years just up and vanished Monday - without a word to any of us. I applied for, and got, a job offer within minutes of sending my resume. I know MQ has beaten us all down over the years, but there are actually other companies and people who appreciate our abilities and stamina to say with such a company for so many years in spite of it all :) ...

Curious, as to those getting out of MT, where are you going? I am soooo dissatisfied with this profession today. My wages are half what they were hourly only 4 years ago (VR for me is not profitable). The account specs get more and more complicated and you have to work on at least 5 or 6 accounts to keep work. That just seems weird. I get if it's supposed to be mcg and you put mg, something doctors often do in their dictation, but leaving off the mg, 3.0?
