Nuance certainly has its shortcomings, but I think the saddest thing about this company is how they forced otherwise honest, decent people into being complicit in their deceit.
Before Nuance bought out my old company, I had the pleasure of working with some very good managers. They were upfront, compassionate and understanding. When the merger happened, however, they were put in a position of lying to us all. I still recall the conference calls in which they claimed the new platform was better and how great the drafts were coming in. I'm sure they knew it was all a lie but simply fed it to us in order to keep their own jobs.
But, hey, what should I expect? Ethics and morality in this country have been going down the toilet for quite some time.

They only require a bachelor's degree, nothing about transcription experience, so obviously they don't understand the research, the time, everything that goes into this job. It is just "type harder, work faster, why are you not meeting production." I do agree with your post about the lies and they are just trying to keep their jobs. I think as it all goes overseas, which will be soon, the managers/supervisors, etc....they will be gone too.
All of these companies are going to kick our butts - to the curb, sooner rather than later. (s/m)

1 - Leave before they fire us anyway, and let them train their own software and Indians, or
2 - Teach their software and Indians to do it wrong.
(I kinda like choice #2.)

If you honestly do value your MTs, instead of falling all over yourselves with "thank you for all you do" and telling us how integral we are in the EHR field, the knowledge and accuracy we must possess, etc., ad nauseaum, please, at the very least, reinstate our WMX pay or, ideally, give us back our pay plus a cost of living stipend comparable to most other large and humane megacorporations. The saddest part of being an MT is that most of us have to maintain 2 or jobs at the same time, no just to make ends meet, but because of the fact that we don't know when they will be ready to fire us because we missed a comma or did not meet their high, ignorant, unreal expectations. How many of you have to work more than one MTSO, not only to make ends meet but because there is no work or because you fear being let go without notice or explanation? ...

I'm on Escription. Now they've changed the header so it fills my screen. I have to ALT-shift-E to get to the report. If there is a doctor's name given and I don't know how to spell it, instead of being able to see the header info, I have to go back and write down the firicken name because yoiu cannot copy and paste in this crap. Before, I could leave the header alone and I'd have about 3 inches at the bottom to start typing or editing. ...

I'm in shock about all the layoffs at M*Modal this morning! I'm sure everyone else is too. I'm scared/worried the same thing might happen to Nuance now. I see job postings all the time for both companies. It's crazy how they hire all these people and then layoff a bunch of people. I'm curious to know how many people in total got laid off. Does anyone else see this coming at Nuance? ...

Somebody fry these bas****s! Document EVERYTHING! Someone posted about how to save the voice files. Also save your completed document into a Word document so it can be proved that the document was created on a certain date and never modified. Print copies of all correspondence for anything that isn't just a mundane question. Take screen shots or whatever you need to do of FIEFSA or anything else. Challenge all errors. Just one more thought. I have never, ever, known anyone who has left Medquist or Spheris and regretted it. They may bounce back and forth just to get by, but in the long run, when they are finally finished, they are finished. For all of those MTs who don't want to start over, please don't take that attitude. I did and it only got worse and when I did change it wasn't that bad at all. Again, could it get any worse? ...

I had another physical last week and my blood pressure was back down to 120/70, and my doctor was very happy when he learned I had quit. Urine welkenton? Not sure of spelling, since I'm not sure it's really a word. They could also be saying welkington. That's what the dictation sounds like and I've listened to it several times on numerous days. Can't find a reference to it anywhere and I've tried many variations. I do believe now that they are starting to target those of us who were making 10/6. In the past, on my old accounts, I was audited no more than once a month. If I failed an occasional audit, they would wait another month to see how I did on that one and since I always passed, no action was taken. I just can't stick it out 2 weeks :( Every job I type just stresses me out more and more. I am to the point that I don't care if I get my 20 hours PTO I have built up. Just had a doctor dictate "potassium 40 mg," (should have been mEq) and then further down, "Levemir 40 mg" (should have been units). If I had not left blanks for them, that would have been 6 points off. It also compelled me to use my allotment of blanks for that report! But they, of course, do not get penalized for their mistakes. On the other hand, our pay is docked. There is a double standard here that needs to be changed. ...

It's always annoying when she chitty-chats with the "girls in the office" while dictating, but in this dictation, one of the girls is mocking back everything the dictator says and continues to do so, after a little chuckle from dictator each time, to the point where the dictator finally has to tell her that this is important, it is for an attorney and she cannot mess it up. ...
