Sunday is Diwali in India. It's a huge festival weekend - the biggest holiday of the year there and so if you're asked to work extra - just know it's probably not the domestic folks taking off - it's the staff in India.

My accounts DO NOT utilize offshore vendors on Fridays thru Sundays, so when I'm asked to work extra on those days, I KNOW it's not because it is some holiday in India. It's usually because someone on the U.S. side has called in and is inevitably "unable to work their shift" on the weekend, which happens EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND on the accounts I work. It has become such an issue on our accounts that a few months back, we were asked if "anyone wanted to work Thursday through Monday, meaning EVERY SINGLE weekend. I don't know about the rest of you, but I already work ONE weekend day every single week and have very little time to spend with my family as it is, so I would rather not give up my ENTIRE weekend when my kids are home and we can actually have at least ONE day that is spent as a family.

So while your scenario is possible on some accounts, it is definitely not the reason our MLS are constantly barraged with emails begging for help on OTAT accounts from Friday through Monday. I mean no disrespect, just wanted to point out that our accounts have not one single offshore person working on Friday, Saturday, OR Sunday whatsoever.

My previous TSM (laid off) actually told me because I asked why so much work disappeared after 10 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, but Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays were always OTAT and there was so much work around midnight that it was just mind blowing. The TSM told me that the offshore vendor did not pull work on the Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so those would be the days that work would be most abundant. There was even an email asking if anyone wanted to change their schedule to working Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday because the most help was needed on Friday-Sunday and a lot of times on Monday during the day because of the outrageous backlogs.

On our accounts, by midnight on the weekdays, there is absolutely no work to be had. I have seen more than more than 100 jobs across several accounts disappear within 2 hours in chunks of 15 and 20 jobs at a time.

I guess it's different for different platforms and/or regions. I just know what I was told by my former TSM.

Offshores - me

On the Dictaphone side they are moving most of the accounts to offshores and calling it "following the sun" accounts. The problem is there aren't enough offshores now and they have fired or had quit MTs who covered this account. I see the reports on the system and who is doing them. What accounts don't want work offshored, they send to smaller vendors, like Amphion, Inscribe, etc. There's hardly anybody on on weekends anywhere.

I am only saying what is done on MY ACCOUNTS. What is done in your region or on your accounts may be vastly different.

You are actually wrong there. Just because your - account does not offshore it

means the accounts that do are backed up so they are scrambling to put MLS on those and take away from other accounts. Covering for offshore accounts has a domino effect across the board. My TSM has even confirmed this.

I don't think you and i work on the same platform, so your scenario is much different from mine. I'm not going to debate whether the accounts I work are staffed by an offshore vendor and/or why there is so much work all weekend. I already know the "why" for my team and accounts. :)
