I work a 7-hour day.

95% VR

Same here, maybe a little bit more but only because I work 8 hour days. I do take a break every hour of at least 5 minutes, the only way I can get through the whole day. Mostly VR also

1400-1500 straight typed, working on getting to 200 lph.

Dang! I want your account and/or platform. - sm

It is a good day if I hit 1600/8 hrs with mostly VR. Not a newbie and do not take a lot of breaks. Horrible dictators (most *not* ESL) slow me down.

Eh, I don't think that's the deciding factor here - sm

I'm on the E5 platform, which is the only platform I have worked on, so I really don't know how it compared with others; but I doubt that it is very attributable to my high line count.

I work on SIX accounts, 3 of them acute, with TONS of ESL and all very different account specs. Yep, I also have some horrible dictators (mumblers, gum chewers, second-guessers, auctioneer speeds). The fact is, I am good at my job and work very hard each day to make that line count. I have a goal of 2500 each day and stop at nothing to get there. If I run out of work, which lately seems to be par for the course, I flex my time to get those hours in. And when I do have work, I don't let distractions get the best of me. I close the door to my office, tell my husband and kids to let me be, and work my a$$ off. That's how you get a high line count.

2300-2500 - Jackie

Escription, 7-1/2 hrs.

so far this week (4 days) average is 2400.

Lines per day? - Lee

That depends on the dictator. If you get a batch of reports by a dictator from Hades, you might not even get 800 lines. It also depends on the platform.

Depends - Marge

I do anywhere between 3,000 and 5,000 depending on who it is. But.... I charge by the gross line, not a character line.

lines per day depends on the day - rock bottom

I work on 5 accounts. I get student dictators who don't have a clue.

I get dictators who say things that cannot possibly be true.

About 50% of my reports are sent for errors, discrepancies, no patient name, not dictating dates, etc., etc.

Yep, I don't get credit for all the explanations in the reasons box as to why I am sending this to EQA because what the dictator clearly said makes no sense.

I don't get any normals and don't know why but that has been the case since 2013.

I have one account where the dictators dictate and erase, dictate and erase, dictate and erase, dictate and erase. Impossible on that account to even make minimum required lines.

I'm about 80% VR, but that doesn't matter because of the above.

Since people have 'flexed' due to NSA or OOW or whatever you call it, I've noticed gaps in the time stamps wherein it looks like nobody dictated for 3 hours on 5 different accounts, huh?

So, my line count per 8 hour shift went from 2200 to 2400 down to 1400 to 1600.

I'm really looking forward to the new escription software, when I log on, there will be no work for hours.

Never worked days, ever. I'm the cleanup person at the end of the day when only the dregs are left.

Where have all the normals gone?

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average During The Day/week?
Jan 19, 2011

Just wondering if the TT MTs would like share ... how many lines do you average during the day/week?  I'm doing about 9,000 to 10,000 a week and wonder if I should be pushing myself more.  How much of your count is VR?  I do probably 15% traditional and 85% VR but that, of course, varies week to week.   ...

Average Per Hour With 0.75 Or 0.375 Versus $12.00 Per Hour
Mar 31, 2014

My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour.  I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl.  The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years.  The other is an IC position.  Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate?  I have never done production by line work so I'm not sur ...

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. Average Lines

I currently work for a clinic system who, it seems, is trying to usher us out the door so I've been looking at online companies.  It seems plenty pay by the line but I have NO clue how many lines per hour I can even do because the only number my place of employment gives us is average minutes per hour for an entire month (our bare minimum is 12 min/hr).  So I am curious to know what sort of average lines per hour you ladies can do?  We really cannot afford for me to take a hu ...

How Many Minutes Of Dictation Can You Do In An Hour/day On Average?
Feb 18, 2010

I was just wondering your best estimate of how many minutes of dictation you can do per hour/day. My manager is calculating that the average MT can do 100 minutes of dictation per day. How Many Lines Do You Average A Pay-period?

Not talking straight typing but VR line average per week or per pay-period. I know its a personal question but we are all anonymous here. So for example do you average: 7000 a wk 9000 a wk 15,000 a pay-period. 18,000 a pay-period. Me personally, I have been only averaging 14 to 15,000 a pay-period. Trying to work on improving and I work 40hrs per week, so basically only doing anywhere from 7000 to 8000 per week. Just curious if I am average, below average...I am assuming below ave ...

What Is AVERAGE Line Count Per Hour For An MT To Type

Just wondering, what is an Average line count per hour for an MT?  I worked in a pathology office for almost 5 years, but we never kept count of lines per hour.  When we pulled an audit once, we were only typing about 700-800 a day between myself and the lady I worked with.  I had to pull all the slides for the doctor, help with grossing, assist in frozen sections, etc.  I was hired for a job where they want me to type 135 lines per hour, that's ...

QA Lines Per Hour/day
Nov 17, 2011

I have been promoted to QA and was wondering what the average line count you that do QA get in an hour or a day. I have been doing this for a few months and I am making about the same amount of money per month as I was with MT. Am I being too slow? I am afraid to speed it up for fear of missing something. My workload is about 50% fill in blanks and scan and 50% listen and read along full audit stuff. Right now I am averaging 400 to 450 lines an hour or 3200 to 3600 a day. I was hoping to make a ...
