Helping is a BAD idea/Demeaning emails.... - I know, they do not care.

Posted: Feb 04, 2015

I will never help on an unfamiliar account again--no matter what.

Why would I want to work on an unfamiliar account when I will get paid less for everything I do in a week because I have to send jobs to QC on an unfamiliar account?

Today is my day off and I am reading emails that are demeaning, threatening and just plain mean.  I have done this job for 17 years and after all that time, I feel like I must be so horrible at it, that I am going to get fired.

Using phrases such as, "you are the only one on our team..." is so disgustingly demeaning...and I have no way to know if that is true or not....

It is as though there is a camera on my computer and Nuance is watching every move I make...or at least they think they are...

How about some training on new accounts--you know, to get somewhat familar with the little things you learn along the way WITHOUT paying less for the learning of that new account???  25 pages of accounts specs...I have only had training on 1 of my accounts and it really helped.

agree, NEVER help on unfamiliar account - I did it once

about 3 years ago and 3 weeks later I was still on that account, when I finally asked TSM why, she said oops I forgot to change you back. Yeah right! It was just a means of keeping my errors high and production low on an unfamiliar account. I will never do that again.

I learned a long time ago not to help out. I stick to my accounts and that is it. If I run out of work, I flex my time. I would rather wake up at 3 a.m. to catch work on my familiar account than help out another team. It's just not worth it.

Along these lines... - Questions for QC

Just what do you think I will learn by you pointing out the fact that I am guilty of making a typo from time to time? That you are better than me? That you are a better reader and can catch some nonsense that was not dictated but ASR decided to stick in there anyway just to trip me up? Is it really necessary to send me an email saying "Greetings" and then proceeding to make me feel like dirt because I made a "major" error, which is actually a typo that anyone with half a brain (or is that 1/2) would realize it was a freaking typo?

QC doesn't send any emails. We get them too. I think that's an automatic function by God-awful FIESA.

From what we have to go by, a "typo" doesn't create a new word. If it creates a new word, it's either minor or major (as in, if the sentence makes no sense whatsoever, it's a major error). If the opposite was dictated (no heart disease instead of known heart disease) or there's an incorrect lab value, it's a CPSE.

We have the same crappy audio you have when we QC, and I definitely take that into account.

My best advice is, if it's going to QC anyway for blanks and you have any doubt about any word, leave it blank.

Turn that in for harrassment. - sm

There's no reason to accept that kind of demoralizing language from anyone, especially a superior, and as we are employees, they need to find a level of professionalism or be subject to the antiharrassment measures put in place at EVERY company (even our *$#^% company) to ensure that doesn't happen. Let them know that they are harrassing you and you will not accept that kind of demeaning language or tone or you will take it to the next level. You could also cc either your manager or HR. I'd be on that like a fly on you know what. Unprofessional idiots.

Harassment? - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think a manager telling his/her employee the words "unacceptable", "need improvement,", etc., is harrassment.

"you idiot old lady"
"show me your boobs or your fired"
"I' will watch you every minute of the day until I find an error to fire you for"

Those are harrassment.

I agree, it is frustrating to get the "you better improve" emails when you miss a comma, etc., but come on, harrassment?

It is when she was asked to help out - on an unfamiliar account

[ In Reply To ..]
TSM should just say, well, maybe this account has too many specs to absorb and let her off the hook or something, not shame her.

Helping out - Lee

Same thing happened to me. Not only that, it was obvious that the reports were done by one of the worst dictators on the planet, which somebody else did not want to do. I also would never help out on another account again. I was crucified by QA, who it turned out had templates showing what that dictator usually says. I am sure they could not have understood that dictator either without their cheat sheets.

OOW,POC,TSM, Helping On Other Accounts...

IMO, this new contact sheet is another way to make someone appear as though they have an important job... Did all accounts start this?  Maybe it is just mine.... It is 2 pages of emails, protocols, instructions...it has been revised numerous times in the last 2 weeks...we are supposed to print it---I am running out of ink--I have printed it every time it is revised to the "final." If I still have to email that I am OOW, and then wait for a reply on what to do, how does this help me? &nbs ...

Helping Doctor With EMR--funny
Feb 24, 2012

You gotta laugh so you don't cry!  My son works with hospitals on computer programs, and he sent me an amusing YouTube link to watch.  I thought some of you might be able to relate.   At the YouTube site, do a search for "Jane and the Doctor."  The subtitle of the video reads, "Jane tries to help a doctor place orders in the EMR."  It's animated, but it was clearly done by someone who knows a thing or two about EMR implementation!    ...

What About This Idea?
Apr 08, 2010

I would like to suggest that every unhappy MT at MQ jam the phone line(s) of Employee Assistance and share how the stress from working at MQ is affecting your health, your work, and your personal lives.  If this is supposed to be a benefit for all employees, then make it work for you by calling, one by one, day by day, hour by hour, and then, quite possibly, you will see another benefit taken away from MTs (such as no-strings-attached QA) but at least you can get satisfa ...

Odd Idea

This occurred to me today and just thought I'd share.  What if this were a supportive forum? No, no, I'm not talking about not complaining, etc., that's important to do, IMO. But, we are all in the same craft, so maybe we could cheer one another on! Even get to know one another. OMG, that would be awful! New Job Idea
Nov 20, 2012

Today I had to go to a deposition at my attorney's office. There was a woman there who was a "voice-writer" to be present and record the meeting. She used a mask over her mouth and repeated into the mask everything that was said verbatim. We could not hear her. This went directly onto her computer screen which was connected and she said all she had to do now was edit the voice recognition report. I looked it up online and there is a lot of information about this field. I am thinking of cons ...

Another Job Idea
Nov 20, 2012

I previously worked for a MTSO whose main focus was on buying out every company possible. I had enough of the micromanagement and pay cuts, low work, no work, etc. so I just walked away after giving notice. I had been looking for work daily, applying, sending resumes with no luck. Then I saw at the local mall where many seasonal positions to work in the stores were available. I applied having no customer service skills, but I got the job. My foot is now in the door! I am hoping it will lead to a ...

Suggest they call MH back again for the umpteenth time...she's always willing to return again and again.  If not, maybe her daughter.  That's their answer to any problem in the past.  Even if they can't stand her or her daughter... they usually resort to them in a pinch.  Oh, but don't call her a coordinator, no, she's an account facilitator.  They have more made-up titles for people. What a joke!!!! ...

I Have A Great Idea
Aug 19, 2011

Why don't all of us who are tired of everything join forces and form our own company.  We live all over the country, know how to do the work, know how to QA, know different platforms.  Hundreds of us together could market our own vicinity and work together like a coop.  We would all make the big bucks.  It has to work, as we are the people who keep the large companies in business.  Coops work with any other business, why not with this.  What do you think ...

Patients Have No Idea...
Apr 18, 2012

I told them how much I loved the actual job, and then told them what a MESS ASR and EPIC make of a patient's record if it is unedited.  I recounted some of the "funny" mistakes (only funny in the fact that AS ...

Just Had An Idea For An Audit!
Mar 03, 2014

The auditor should determine what percentage of the dictation the physician got correct and then the MT should have at least 99.6% of that correct.  I had a doc today say, "There was no palpation to palpation over the remaining joints."  I left it, didn't even blank it, mainly because I could clearly hear it and knew they had mis-spoke but how am I supposed to know if they meant pain or tenderness or what?  Most of my audio today was extremely lousy and I had left enough blan ...
