But I find myself chronically angry. Today I've had nothing but crap dictators and every single report has had at least 1 blank in it. Nuance, c'mon, get a clue will you? Is it any wonder you're losing people and have to keep posting for new people? Bring back the good stuff from India and give them the crap dictators and let them see how they like it. OK, rant over.

Don't know why that is, really, I guess if you move up the food chain that is the day you get off, or what. I have always despised working on Sunday because it is the start of my week and invariably I do terrible line counts due to the horrible quality of dictators/dictation on Sunday.

I think it is also because there is not a lot of it either, at least this week, so that also means all the secondary accounts and their terrible dictators.

Sometimes I wonder if I am going to go below the 186 lph sheerly by virtue of crap dictators, and how are they going to blame us for that? Very rarely is it possible now to get a good run of quality dictators where you can make 200+ lph and this is from somebody who easily used to do 300 lph even with worse dictators back before Nuance took over my company (I believe the ISR was much better than Nuance - I frankly wonder if they do not upgrade the speech engine on purpose so we can't make much money).

I know my account does NOT go to India, so can only assume the front-end point and click has taken over for the better dictators and we are left with the dregs.

The fact that they are not only harder to transcribe, but also take longer, as well as you use every bit of your experience and knowledge, will probably not result in Nuance acknowledging this in any way except to berate us for not making the 186 lph, since they just do not seem to know anything about transcription or care, except they WILL no doubt be successful in their attempts to make us all quit or into minimum wage workers and then brag to the shareholders of their profits at our expense.

I agree. Work for Nuance and the Sunday dictators are the worst ever. Very frustrating company to work for. Was hired for one specialty and am given almost everything but that which I was recruited for.

Same here; wow that recruiter was just so obliging, I couldn't believe it (stupid me). I think I could have asked for a dollar a line and she would have said yes. Anyway, told I would be doing a lot of op notes, which I love and I never say one in a month. That did it for me, I quit and moved on. Again, these companies lie and treat their MTs like dirt, don't take it, just get out and find something else. I did find another MT job and believe me when you work for a decent company, it is hard to believe how may MTs stay at places like N and MM and so many others that are just as bad. Every nightmare story I have read on this site has happened to me, but no more! BTW, this will be my LAST MT job. No more when this one goes. I am at the end of the line.

My company is in the process of being absorbed by Nuance. We have to test and interview but were told most of us would be hired by them. They said they would try to give us schedules/hours we have now (or would like), but I am wondering if they end up offering us horrible hours (like overnight) and we don't take it, if we would be inelligible for unemployment. Send your resume to every company out there, stating that you are looking for IC work. When you get an interview, demand more pay than the measly 8/4 cpl that they are trying to shove down our throats. I came across this idea when looking for ideas to branch out from doing MT. A local technical school in my area offers a certification degree for a respiratory therapist. In doing some research, this doesn't sound that bad. You basically work with patient's who have trouble breathing, asthma, COPD, etc. Learn how to use all the oxygen breathing equipment and such, learn how to respond to a patient who might be coding and give proper airway support. In any case, I've been ignoring it. You can double check your pay by taking the amount of money in the Current column and dividing that by the number of lines in the Piece Units column. It may be a little bit more if you work nights and get the shift differential as it seems that they add that on.
