should i stay or should i go? - whattodo

like many of you, Ive been with MQ for a while, pushing 10 yrs, and like most of you, have gotten spooked by the changes of late. Mostly the NJA and now the all ME work, which I can finally see, can really be not too much of a big deal.

have the chance to either change my status, adding hrs and gaining some PTO, or making a total change and going to another, much smaller company. Similar MT rate, less for ASR there, no PTO for P/T.

feel afraid to make a move either way...is MQ still the stable company it once was? to chance getting burned by the old cliche"...sometimes the grass isn't always greener".....

yes, Ive been angry and fed up...a lot..in the past few weeks/months, but do not want to make a decision based on that alone.

thoughts, no flames or rants, please, just looking for practical advice/suggestions from those in the same shoes.

If you are able to do that. If it were me, I would not add on hours here, as there is not enough work now.

I am too afraid to leave completely either. By working 2 companies, at least if 1 calls and says... we don't need you anymore, you are not left hanging out to dry.

I have been doing this for 2 years due to uncertainty from the Q. Although I am completely burned out, if the Q gets rid of me, I can get more hours at the other job or vice versa.

It is so hard to find a job right now with so many out of work and I feel blessed to work for 2 jobs.

Right now, I have a schedule that I am happy with, pretty good CCM and accounts (although hate ASR), 6.1 running fine for me after support finished messing with it, never see NJA, and I know when I am getting paid each month. I don't like all the new changes and do get frustrated though.

I did have a couple of offers from smaller MTSOs, but pay not much different for straight typing and lower for ASR, and not the schedules I want. I finally decided that I did not want to sacrifice my PTO, schedule, or accounts for what MAY be a better working environment not knowing what the accounts will be like; will there be enough work; and having to basically "start over" with learning new dictators, profiles, etc., unless the pay was a lot higher.

If I could have worked PT for these places, I may have done that along with FT with MQ to get a feel for the company(s), but that was not an option at the time.

After taking everything into consideration and deciding what was important to me, I decided I will stay here as long I can keep making enough to pay my bills. I think with MQ being so big, might be around a lot longer than the smaller MTSOs anyway (MQ would probably buy out the MTSO I switch to anyway, then I would really be p***ed).

You say 6.1 is working fine for you after support finished messing with it? Do you mean that it is running faster, like the old version? Just wondering if it's worth it to call support. Do you know what the did to make it run better?

It may be just a tad slower downloading and uploading jobs, but not much. I don't know exactly what all support did, just saw him go in and change a bunch of stuff and delete or stop some programs that were running in the background he said did not need to be running. I have no idea what as he went places on the computer I have never been before, all foreign to me. I tried to see what he was doing, but happened too fast and I am somewhat computer illiterate anyway. All I know is that I could only do maybe 3 reports in 2 hours before they "fixed" it. I do know that he deleted internet browsing history, cookies, etc. and said I should do this everyday when done working and restart computer at least every couple of days to help keep the computer from bogging down (why don't they just put more memory or whatever on their computers?). I am crossing my fingers it keeps running well for me and really sorry so many cannot get this issue resolved, just stupid. They are so bogged down right now with calls/tickets with so many not able to work.

Why were these issues not addressed during the "beta version" they did is my question, do they not test this stuff or do they ignore the feedback or what? If we were that incompetent, would we still have our jobs?...I think not.

Sorry for the vent at the end there, but stupidity makes me crazy.

I changed to second shift but was still getting NJA sometimes, and all the "improvements" they are making made me see it was never going to get better for me, only worse, first and foremost the decreasing paychecks. I stayed for 2 years after it started getting uncomfortable. I finally did get up to speed on ASR so I could do enough to get by--but only if there was any work to do!!! Getting one job at a time, I never knew if this was the last one before NJA...I was afraid to go too, but I was even more afraid to stay. They have taken me right to the verge of bankruptcy and may still be going there. I got a job with another MTSO doing straight typing and quit MQ and have absolutely no regrets. I know that transcription is probably going to be only temporary and I'll have to find another line of work, but right now I think I'll be better off away from there. Every change they make just makes it worse for the MTs. Just my opinion, who faced the exact same choice.

Having a hard time deciding whether I should continue working for MM until they go under and have to lay off everyone and I could collect unemployment or if I should just leave, thereby leaving behind all the stress and frustration that I feel daily. I have done this type of work for a long time. So, from what I understand, to stay employed at TTS, you basically have to just work and agree with mgmt at all times? Never question them on anything? Is that the only thing they are concerned about??!! No one has ever mentioned how they feel about production met or not, etc. Not that meeting production would be a problem for me, but if they don't care about that, it makes me wonder what kind of company they are running if all they care about is being right and not being questioned ...

As soon as I start playing the audio, I can't concentrate and I start falling asleep at my desk. I literally have to get up every 15 minutes to keep from snoozing at my desk. Proofing my work is a hassle because, again, audio starts and I'm falling asleep. I went through an 8-hour unpaid training for them and decided the next day they were not a good fit. Their platform is cumbersome and you have to have about 6 windows open just to work on one job and the management is poorly run, IT not always available. Be warned!!!! ...

I was just reading the BOS3, which (unfortunately, as it DECIMATES the rules of proper English) more and more employers are adhering to these days. VERY disturbing. They want only ONE (oh, excuse me -- 1) space after periods and other punctuation marks (colon, etc.) This will, of course, CUT YOUR LINE COUNT. Stay away from Diskriter who has an ad on the Job Seeker's Board. I worked for them and it was THE worst experience of my life. It is a very big hospital they are referring to with lots and lots of facilities associated with it and lots and lots of account specifics. You need to have a certified degree as a rocket scientist to work for them. They chastise you and make you feel worthless. Seriously, the LAST thing you'll want to do is have to work closely with the management at Synernet. I had an extremely bad experience with them. I wish I could give more details, but I am bound to keep quiet (it was an agreement made). I was not an MT.
