mmodal taking my hospital's accounts - mtunemployed
Posted: Feb 07, 2014
mmodal is taking my hospital's transcription. 5 of us losing job. mmodal offered to let us test twice to be considered for a position. not so sure about it.
Your hospital is going with them - MModal cannot take anything

MModal doesn't "take" hospital accounts--the hospital chooses to go with MModal to have MModal do their transcription.
Hospitals have been going with MModal (formerly MedQuist) since the late 1990s. You've been riding a high game and been extremely lucky that your hospital kept you for so long.
Working for these big MTSOs is a horrible thing. You will be expected to be on call if you want to get their production requirement in (because they off-shore to India), the pay will be so low you'll be crying, the dictators so hard you will be tearing your hair out, and the expectations for fixing ASR quality messes are out of this world. You are not allowed to just delete the ASR report and type from scratch, or you will be penalized.
You will have hundreds of dictators, all the specialties, ESLs and the worst of the worst dictators.
If you are wanting to do this, go in knowing all of this, and meanwhile (as we've been saying for about 7 years now), start a plan to get the heck out of the business.
If you are wanting to go with a small agency, know that MM and Nuance are buying them up like crazy.
That is that.
hospital chose mmodal - mtunemployed

Yes my hospital chose to go with mmodal
Bad choice of words.
RUN, RUN RUN - FAST - DO NOT WORK FALL FOR THEIR LIES

I am sorry to hear about your job, but Mmodal (or Mmoral as we call them) is NOT an acceptable answer to your dilemma. They have no work and are extremly focused on sending all work to India. They will make you work a schedule, fail to provide you work and then insist you make it up before midnight that night or all weekend, which you will not be able to do. They have cut our pay so far down it is insulting, and on top of that, management is a horrid nightmare. Nothing but punitive policies, nasty management and a blatant distaste for anything moral and decent as far as employee treatment. This company has boasted that they are changing the face of this industry and they have - they ruined it! Run to anywhere but here, please do yourself a favor and tell them where to stick their "offer to test". Best of luck to you from one who knows this company painfully well after 20 years. I even escaped once only to have them buy up the great company I was working for and they fed us all the lies too, nothing will change......not true.
I had escaped, too - But got slammed back
[ In Reply To ..]
That happened to me, too. I was so happy to finally have found an almost-okay company to work for, and 2 years later, whammo---got slammed back to MM. No notice. I had 1 day to make a decision to go with them or not, and at the time, I needed the health insurance, so I was forced to stick around and quit 8 months later.
During that 8 months, I aggressively worked on getting OUT of the biz completely. I was not going to go to another "nice" agency only to be gotten bought out down the line.
If there is any way at all that you can avoid working for them, I would do that, and spend your new free time seriously looking for another line of work.
All you have to do is read down the list of threads on this board - anon

And it will tell you everything you need to know and more, about what you would be getting yourself into.
"Not so sure about it?" It would take me literally two seconds to decide, if I were you.
not interested - mtunemployed

Honestly mmodal does not seem that interested in us.
No offense, but they are not interested in you, just your accounts - so they can send them to India
[ In Reply To ..]
They will feed you a line of garbage, and it is all lies. I still have my propaganda emails they sent us when they bought out our company and every single thing they "promised" was a blatant LIE. They will "take you" and lay you off or fire you as soon as the accounts are in their greedy clutches, then it will go to India in the dead of night and you will be left with nothing but broken promises and strife. Please, spare yourself the misery we are all trying to escape now. Go do something, ANYTHING, else.
I agree. Take this as a golden opportunity to - escape MT for something better.

I was an MT for 11 years. I started with eDIX, which was sold after just a few months to another company, we eventually became Spheris. Life was pretty good for the most part, then that dreaded day....we have been acquired by MedQuist (now MM.) That was in February, by August a part-time employer (none MT)offered me a full time job and I ran for my life...I come on there from time to time to see if anything is getting better, it's not, it's getting worse. MM is the biggest reason I won't ever be in the MT field again, they gobble up everything in sight, and I would live just waiting to get that dreaded Email and honestly, I NEVER want to relive that time with them. Start laying out an escape plan now! Best of luck to you and all affected.
See if hospital will move you to another position! - Tired MT

If there is any position in the hospital you can move to, TAKE IT! Unit secretaries will be making more than you will with MM and you will have better benefits (insurance, PTO, retirement) and you will definitely feel better mentally. If you are already vested in the hospital's retirement program, you will continue earning more later because you will have no retirement with MM. In fact, you probably won't have a job at all by the end of this year when MM cuts all US MTs.
We learned today that our transcription department is being eliminated and Nuance will be taking over. However, Nuance has kindly agreed to offer employment to us, promising that our first choice will be our hospital account. I think they are full of it and are just telling the hospital (and us) what they think we need to hear, and that one should run, and not walk, away from their job offer. Thoughts? ...
Does anyone know of companies hiring regular clinic transcription i.e. chart notes etc for OB/GYN, internal medicine, pediatrics? I see lots of adds for hospital work, but for those of us who don't enjoy the hospital accounts, it would be nice to know of companies who do straight clinic typing.
Any help is appreciated. Anyone just wanting to slam me for asking this, please do not respond.
Thanks ...
I have taken a new job to transcribe for a hospital in Canada. What are the differences? Can you post (or email me) links for websites that you use for references - looking up doctors, meds, etc. Is the spelling different? ...
how is the platform. I know people have negative comments about them but are there any positive ones. I would only try it PT and IC. Not sure that would work out or not. ...
is that correct? If so, are CB and DF still involved? I love Bayscribe, and I was thinking about biting the bullet and applying to Nuance for some PT work, but I kind of butted heads with the 2 ladies and so I don't want to waste my time. Thanks for your input. ...
What the heck is going on here? We're being bought out and paid less than the people cleaning the toilets at the "corportate" offices of the big-three companies. We're scraping by to make one-third of what we used to make. Why? Do you actually believe these companies are charging the hospitals less? We're the only ones getting paid less, and less, and less. The hospitals are getting crappy reports, something they're told can't be helped; there's no other alternat ...
I checked my pay stubs and, granted, I still was getting production bonus 5-6 months ago, but my pay has decreased so much, like $400-500. Sometimes I wonder what all those "delays" with "uploading the lines" are.
Honestly, this company has made me literally into a minimum wage worker. Thanks a lot, Nuance, you will soon get your wish and I will have to subsidize my income with food stamps at this rate. I guess that is your objective, more profits for you, spread the poverty so our taxes are ma ...
to see what Medquist was looking like. Looks just about like Spheris to me, possibly a little worse.
Can anyone say what they are paying per line ASR and regular transcription for a mid-level account? Clinic account?
Not sure it is worth the bother to stick around for this change. ...
I have 2 job offers from 2 different companies, but both of these companies are fairly large and have multiple posts with complaints that there is just not enough work for everyone. Would it be possible to take both offers, on the chance that if one doesn't have work the other will? I might be kinda screwed if they both have a lot of work, but it might be worth it to see how both will work out without closing any doors. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible to run 2 companies differen ...
If you get NJA on a very regular basis, reply with what state you are in. Apparently, some states require pay for downtime, CA I believe being one of them. I'm not sure of the other states. Obviously, work can be routed to or away from us at will, and I have a feeling they are choosing MTs from the states that mandate downtime pay over states that don't. ...
After having been an MT for over half of my life and constantly reading these forums and realizing the shortcomings we are all facing in this industry, I'm taking the plunge.
Yesterday my husband and I bought 2 domain names, ordered 500 business cards, my husband is researching MT salaries nationwide, and we're going to start our own MTSO. An MTSO run by HUMAN BEINGS for HUMAN BEINGS. A small one, we're looking at probably 20 or less ICs to ensure ample work for every ...
My teacher IS a lawyer. Any questions I should ask him??? Just read the post below about the old grandfathered. I am a grandfathered employee, but what is "new" grandfathered employee. I had ONE interview back in 1990 and here I am today. Been bought, merged, and aquired with name changes to finally, Medquist and soon, we will probably getting a new name again after all the acquisitions. It seems our company is probably run by a lot of lawyers who know how to handle ...
I've decided I will go through Andrews school for coding. All that I have to do now is wait until Monday to sign up and enroll. I am so excited!! I was wondering if anyone who has gone though or is currently in the coding course through Andrews could give me some advice. I am currently a medical transcriptionist,so I have medical language behind me...but that is about all. Any study tips or anything else for that matter would be well appreciated. Thanks. ...
Some have been trying for over 7 years to change things and things haven't changed. Okay. Those of you who are quite certain you want to try to change things, how long have you been doing it? And how much longer are you going to do it? I guess we who have been speaking up for 7 years have been doing it all wrong? ...
without pay we were given (13 days). If you use this for NJA you will forfeit an entire day of the time off without pay, even if it's just 1 hour. The days off are not hourly. They are daily, so if you had 1 hour left in your shift and had NJA and took the time off without pay, 1 entire day of your time off without pay would be used. Looks like MM screwed us again. ...
If you think the offer from MMoral to become a coder sounds good, think again. If you start the program and don't finish, you have to pay MM for the full cost of training, and no mention was made of how much that is. If you decide to leave MM for a coding job elsewhere, you probably won't even be considered for a job with decent pay because you didn't train through AHIMA and you will have to pay MM for your worthless training if you leave before 2 years. Lastly, if Obamacare ends ...
Has anyone read the rule book here? I tried to once but couldnt read through my tears! I believe I was told we can't take days off unless we have the PTO to cover it? This is going to be a problem. I have some important days coming up for my 18 year old daughter with autism, a meeting at school and an awards ceremony and some other things. This would use up the measly PTO hours I have and I would have nothing left to take days off this summer, like my birthday. Does anyone else take da ...
Okay, we know we cannot change our personal information that is public on Office365. Simply double click on the image area of any contact and presto, home address, etc. Try to change your own and be instantly denied.
But do you know for months that you can go into Exponent, go to Time Reporting, then Additional Options, and click on "View Other Employee Leave" ??
Cute, I have seen this list of full names go from 60 to 31 in a few weeks, not to mention why do we have access to these ...
Went to another site and there are tons of positions with other companies in India. Has anyone thought about turning the tables and working for them? Just curious. I mean, its still basically our work. ...
