Does anyone work for a hospital, but you live out of state from that hospital? - - curious

I type for a hospital out of state through the MTSO of which I am employed, but not directly for the hospital. If that is possible I would like to know how myself. I would really like to cut out the middle man as I am really tired of working so hard for so little. Any ideas or help in that regard would be much appreciated.

I live about 60 miles from the hospital I work for. We have several MTs who live out of state - most within about 20 miles, one about 200 miles and another more than 1000 miles away.

What would you like to know?

I worked in hospital in Wisconsin and we had several transcriptionists who were employees of the hospital and lived in Ohio and Iowa. I do not now how they got job with the hospital. They did same work, got same pay and benefits as the rest of us.

I am new to this forum and have never posted before. I am curious about the hospital in Wisconsin. I live in Wisconsin and would love any information on local hospitals that hire MTs. I would appreciate any info.

I worked for a hospital that utilized the services of K-Force. When they were assigned MTs, they would look for the best ones that came through and then recruit them privately (yes, probably underhanded in the business ethics). They would furnish them with all equipment necessary and they would be hired as a full-fledged hospital employee with benefits, etc., just as if they were in-house. We had MTs on the east coast, middle America, and the west coast courtesy of the K-Force MTs.

Another hospital I worked for also would keep on the really good MTs if the MT moved and left the area yet wanted to keep his/her job. They were kept on as FTEs and retained all of their benefits just as if they were still in-house.

That's the only 2 scenarios I can think of off the top of my congested head, but I'm sure there are other scenarios as well.

Yes, I work for a company in Florida and my one account is in Nevada and the other in California, but I work an east coast schedule. So, I work 9p to 1a pacific and 12a to 4a eastern to them. It's strange. Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure my former employer made a mistake on my W2 or made a mistake by withholding state taxes. I live in a state that has no state taxes. My company is in a state tax state. Just curious if anyone has a remote (long-distance) position with a hospital. If so, did you have to work inhouse initially before being able to go home or not? Okay, so halfway out of curiosity, I applied to my local hospital, which is a large regional hospital, for an MT job. They wanted a "seasoned" MT with CMT, who transcribes 250 lines an hour. Was laid off in April. Have a couple offers from transcription companies, and one from a clinic which is part of a huge school/hospital system in our area, (which actually is through a temp agency). There are only 2 full-time NP's and a handlful of part-time NP's. The hospital job is a 45-minute drive, 1-way, in light traffic. Does anybody out there work at home for a hospital, not a transcription company. How do they handle the running out of work situation - do they expect you to use your PTO or take it without pay.
