love full listening ILP reports for 3cpl....!!! - krabby

Because I need my job I bite hard everyday to continue with MQ. Being an MME is horrible when you are paid 3 cpl to full listen ILP. I get paid more to ME my own ASR reports which take me sometimes just as long. Each time the situation is mentioned on how unfair it is to only get 3 cpl to full listen ILP reports we are always told that it really isn't that many reports....funny I did over 90 of them in a pay period and they aren't short reports ever always long.....sorry I'm venting and frustrated and sick of making no money to "help" ILP learn MY STINKIN JOB! fill in 1 or 2 blanks on would balance out the occasional long ESL and poor quality US doctor dictation. Trouble is if they are easy the MTs/MEs breeze through them too so they don't come to MMEs at all -- easy dictation doesn't have blanks. For some reason "they" think blanks are always words the MTs don't know when in fact they are almost always words that are mangled in dictation. If they could be heard correctly, they could be transcribed correctly. Anyhow -- I am in the same situation -- rarely hearing American dictators and consistently earning under min. wage because of this. A poster yesterday mentioned loving MQ because she could choose her own schedule and had only a few ESL dictators. Since I have been asked several times to change my schedule to fit workflow and I have practically all ESL dictators -- it is obvious that it really depends on what your accounts are. Is there a geographic factor here I wonder ? Like the South and Southeast and Northeast have more ESL doctors than the West and Midwest for instance ? Just wondering.

I think it depends on the hospital, not the geographic area. I am in the West but my primary is a HUGE hospital with about 1000 docs and residents (which change every 6 months). I would say they have about 85% ESL . . . and I mean EVERYTHING from Spanish, Indian, Farsi, Russian, Japanese. . . I have literally gone an entire week without even one English-speaking dictator. The even sadder part is, all of them are on ASR.

In general, if your primary is a teaching hospital, you can bet it's an ESL mecca.

His dictation is going offshore and coming back a mess. He doesn't have time to sit down and edit and there is nobody at the hospital doing any proofing. I know the VA won't allow offshoring but does anyone know who at the VA made that decision and how I can get ahold of them? ...

someone posted where the school told her she could make 20,000 a year in MT. So, divided that by .03 and then I divided that by 365 days which is 7 days/week working and got about 1826 lines rounded off a day for production to make 20,000 a year. Is anybody doing this. Is this really possible? Is there an MTSO that has 1826 lines for you to type 7 days a week? What is the average production in lines, now? Daily. Trying to see what I'm doing ...

I am really really really (times pi) sickened but I figure if I write it here I can go to work and try to hang in there. I got the quarterly bonus and qualify for most times the weekly ones (depending on OOW situation and or if there are so many ESL a week I can't get the goal lines). Anyway, I have this high QA score on my weekly time sheet which is figured quarterly. I caannot get my Windows Media to work or whatever is used to hear QA reports in DQS. A black screen comes up but tells me the file is opened elsewhere. I always was able to listen to reports that had been Q/A'ed in the past. Has anyone had a problem like this? I dread having to call the tech support as I can hardly hear them or understand them. I am sitting here literally ready to punch the wall out of sheer frustration. So sick of listening to these foreign doctors. Are there any of the regions that are not saturated with them? Today I had the misfortune to have 2 lo-o-o-ng reports by the same dictator - I suspect someone else had him before me and said No Thanks and passed him on to me. A new ESL dictating a DS. Can't speed him up because he's too "new" (to this country?). He is spelling every other word!!!!!! AND then spells it again - extubated, e-x-t-u-b-a-t-e-d, extubated e for elephant, x for crosses, t for tom, u for umbrella, b for .......... get the picture (sigh)? Only warrants periodic scans. If anyone comes back at me for that, they can listen to 64 minutes of nothing themselves. If the doctor dictated, too bad he did not follow protocol = put the dictation on hold when not dictating or hang up the phone! ...
