I think we lose all the good stuff to India and whereever else they outsource too also. sick of this crap. Need to send those Indian dictators to India where they can understand them.
I'm sure that's true in all areas, however - OABO

I think the doctors who come from warm climates like India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East all gravitate to warm climates when they come here thus the work from California, the Southeast and Southwest tend to be the worst. When I worked on Denver accounts it was never this bad.
Good Guess - Indians and Easy Dictators

I used to QA Indians' reports here at MQ (sorry MModal), and you can betcha they were the easy, easy clinic dictators. I could probably make $50,000 per year (even with ASR mess) if that's all I had to transcribe.
Prime example of cherry picking - sm

Before working, pulled up reports in lookup and checked what jobs were in there. Started working. In 10 minutes, all of the "easier" dictators were missing from the batch of 60 jobs. I watched them disappear! Where did they go???
What is left for me... GARBAGE.
Your supervisor wanted to do them? - wheres_my_job

I know EXACTLY what you mean. They make bogus claims of increased productivity - yeah, that's only IF you get a RANDOM assortment of work - not all the hard stuff, difficult dictators, missing demographics - I mean, if it's all hard stuff, you should get a "difficulty differential."
I think these MTSOs have nothing but contempt for us as human beings.
Other companies DO have a difficulty differential - anon

It was one of the best compensation packages I've seen. Small company, not many people have heard of it but the work and the pay were both good. Tough reports (reports with known difficult dictators - accents, speed talkers, mumblers, etc - Op Reports, reports with grids to fill in, etc etc) all were paid more than straight forward, standard reports with easy dictators.

Those jobs go to MTs who do all the easy jobs and no foreign doctors or OPs. Yes, you can choose to do that...less pay per line, but more money, because you get all the easy doctors. Makes me mad too.

And I just wanted to say what a great job you all are doing with these horrible reports and dictators on the system right now. I sometimes proof these reports and wonder how the heck you guys catch what's being said. You're all doing a great job with what you have to work with - nice work.
Thanks for your kind words, was kind of depressed about this this weekend. - MTnotpickin

My MMEs in the west are always so kind and appreciative, as is my CCM. I really appreciated hearing this today, though. This weekend was especially difficult with one particular dictator who spoke no English at all and had a runny nose. Sigh. And it seemed for a long time I got many of those one right after another. Thanks for your kind words, they make it a little easier.
You're very welcome - it's well deserved - anon2

In fact I'm QA'ing a report right now and I'm totally blown away by what the MT was able to decipher. I consider myself good at what I do, but I doubt I could've done nearly as good of a job with this report.
It's so hard to communicate this to you guys because everything is kept so anonymous in our communications but be sure to read your "general comments" on your QA feedback - I'm not sure about other MMEs but I always comment on good work because it totally blows me away sometimes. So just keep in mind when you get a bad batch of work, even if you leave a few blanks, it's truly amazing what you guys are able to pick up on, and know that your effort on these kinds of reports is seriously appreciated.
Because earlier this morning I transcribed a job where the dictator was absolutely flipping his s**t about some of his reports not coming out exactly the way he wants them. He went on and on, in a very condescending tone, as if I were a first-grader who belonged in the "slower class."
I took the time to transcribe his rant verbatim into an e-mail which went to my supervisor, my leads, as well as the QA team, with the request that someone please look over the report to make sure I had done my pa ...
I don't know what else could have explained it. I work at Transcend and got on this evening to work and had 3 reports staring at me first in my q that were from a hard dictator and were STATs that had been OUT OF TAT since 10-11 AM this morning. It would appear they had been skipped all day. I don't know how because I don't know how to cherry pick if I wanted to. Have never tried to. It isn't fair to other MTs. How else could it have happen ...
Today there was a memo regarding cherry picking. How can we be cherry picking in DQS? The CMT says that she knows who is doing it. That we are logging in and out to get our favorite dictators. I didn't know it was possible to do this. ...
I have a question. On my account I type a few notes a week, rest is all VR. So, when I see typed notes in my que, I may not take lunch or something so I can hurry up and get that note. I can type almost as fast as I can edit. My problem is this. At a certain time of day, someone comes on their shift and picks out all the typed notes and leaves me the VR. They also take good speakers. I see it ALOT. How do they do this?
Can I block it?
It's happened so much that now I check ...
One of the absolute WORST dictators from my accounts had a gazillion jobs in the queue this morning, all about the same time stamp (must have been downloaded all at once). I started slogging through them, and after a couple hour,s noticed that his backlog was moving a lot faster. Soon, no more jobs from him were coming into my queue, and I was getting jobs from other doctors. I went to lunch, came back, and lo and behold, a couple of jobs from this doctor, now about 3 or 4 hours older.&nbs ...
I didn't think cherry picking was even possible at Nuance. I like the idea of cutting cherry pickers off at the knees though. However, I am pretty sure the real cherry picking is sending all of the easy stuff to India and leaving us with the difficult work types and dictators. ...
There's major cherry pcking going on at my job and there's nothing I can do about it and it makes me soooo mad that I'm considering finding a new job. The "best work" is being funneled to one MT and it's so not fair to the rest of the staff. To MTSO's - Would you rather have 1 happy MT or a staff full of happy MTs???? Doesn't make sense to me. ...
Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with rarely ever getting to work on your primary account because you can really rack up some lines on it, only to be given crappy thick accented dictators? The reason I ask, is if work has been slow, then why are the dictations I have been getting in the evening shifts been dictated at 9 and 10 in the a.m.? Shouldn't those have been done during the day shift? I don't know how much more I can take of this place!!! ...
On 1 account that I work on, there are a couple of dictators who are the worst of the worst. They actually should be reported to their superiors. Many times each day, these reports are downloaded by MTs who simply return them and rather have no work than try to decipher what these idiots spew out. I admit they are very difficult and many times impossible, as I see where QA returns them to the client with blanks, even after additional ears have given a listen.
What I have done ...
Cherry picking is wrong no matter how you look at it. That being said, I believe very strongly that being paid by productivity fosters that very thing! People who are desparate to make a living sometimes resort to doing things that they would not normally do. Add to that the fact that apparently some MTSOs PUNISH employees who do not meet minimum productivity requirements!! When did we start treating medical transcription like factory work???!!! I FIRMLY THINK THAT WE NEED TO BE PA ...
I have all 8 hours worth of ESLs too. Hey, check my number gladly...it surely is not a FAV number by any means. Had a great account. One day I got a call to get off because the supervisor wanted it! Was taken off completely and now the entire account is gone.
The programs are such that they can block off a whole grouping and assign it to one person. They think because you don't see the manager as they do, you are stupid. But I guess we are for work ...
Whenever I'm working and she is off, the incoming jobs are typical good, bad and indifferent with alternating different dictators, which is okay, just the usual. But, when she is working, there is nothing but bottom of the barrel crappola dictators, with no rotation until one is done dictating it's block and then another lousy one comes on with another huge block of blah blah crap. Never a good one in the bunch - unless, of course, she is gone. Coincidence? I think not. ...
You know who you are, and I know who you are. I have been watching you do this for months now. Whether you realize it or not, while you are playing this game, switching back and forth from VR and typing, logging off and logging on depending on the dictators, you are causing a decrease in my production. You have been around long enough to know if there are numerous reports in typing from yesterday, you should not be on VR doing the easy reports dictated just an hour ago tod ...
Did you post here to stir up trouble? Are you bored? You certainly knew this criticism would stir up nasty posts. Seems to me you are displaying the very attitude that MTs complain about with QA. Quite a power trip you are on there. This also caused very low morale and worth ethics. MTs would rather send an error to the client than a blank to QA. How sad. Yes, there are slacker MTs. We all know that, just as there are people in QA positions w ...
So, there must be something keeping you there. There are many other MTSO's you can apply to. I am not trying to start a flame or upset anyone. Only inquiring, because I am considering applying. I have taken their test and passed. I have had one interview, but I have delayed filling out the final application to get the second interview because of all I read on this board. Is there no one making a decent line count, I mean at least 32,000 dollars a year, are the benefits that bad. I wo ...
I tried to rally people about 5 or 6 years ago to stop this stupid outsourcing..I needed several of you from each state to organize groups so we could make our voices heard (not union) just groups that could contact legislators. I got about 10 people that were with me, the rest of you sat back and complained yet did NOTHING.. So this is what you get when you dont get involved, sit back and let others do your dirty work, you get screwed. Your jobs are in India, my job is in India. Im ready to ...
I just have to ask, in all sincerity, why does everone on here just bash all of these services to death? I have rarely found a good word from people about the places that they've worked for. You mean no one has had an enjoyable moment at any of these companies?? It just seems very odd to me that this is the way this board is run....
Is this really the case....that ALL of these services are garbage? Come on....There has to be some service that is a decent ...
We were told recently a doctor was complaining about the quality of our reports. I thought that strange as he has no accent and speaks very clearly. I just did a report of his and his complaints are....do not use 1, 2, 3, etc., spell out one, two, three, etc.., do not leave off THE patient and just type patient at the beginning of a sentence..do not leave off LABORATORY IS AS FOLLOWS and just type LABORATORY, type what I said. I said..right on, doc, my sentiments exactly. ...
that came out today explaining the insurance coverage and the costs? BCBS apparently uses PHCS for the employees who dont live in Michigan. I have actually heard of PHCS and its a huge network.
My insurance cost didn't go up with this change, so I am not sure why anyone else's would have unless you selected a higher level of coverage than you had before.
Kudos to TT for sending this emai out and explaining and shame on those of you who are only here to bash without ...
about quality of reports, and these reports are are being traced back to ASR reports and it has been reiterated that we must listen to the whole report. Hmmm..... Wonder if the reports are from ILP or US as, based on the sudden drop in work a while back, it looks as though our group's work has been swallowed by the at least 80% to India CB rule. ...
I just spent most of my day basically doing full listens on about 30 reports by one specific MT who sent EVERY report she touched this morning to QA, all clinic notes by the same dictator. All looking like swiss cheese with more blanks than actual words. I basically transcribed these reports. The dictator, although ESL, was clear, dictated at an even pace, and was extremely repetitive meaning that after one or two reports, things really should have started to cli ...
I only wish the rate of MT pay matched the MT skills, but why am I complaining? Still have a job ....
Many years ago, I can remember that my niece would always ask me about my MT work and how I was able to stay at home and do this sort of work on a full-time basis. Back then, I would try to explain to my young 9-year-old niece that it is all about my preference to stay at home and work full-time, instead of working in Corporate America which I did for many years, and having to commute to work ...
An MT posting a complaint on this board is one of the reasons it is here!!! If you don't like them, move on. You do not have to read them, and you certainly do not have to respond.
While I do not agree with personal attacks on a board or anywhere else on individuals, complaining about pay, workload, or company practices should not be considered complaining, but very useful information, maybe not to all, but probably to some.
You work for a company who does not pay? Name ...
