I think all of us HATE it there. It's just not that easy to find a better employment situation, but I'm sure most of us who have been bitten by the Spider are trying to do just that.

Not all of us hate it there. I like my job. No, I am not management or a suit as others call them. Your job is as good as you make it. I am really thankful to have a job as I have friends in this business and elsewhere who have been laid off for a long time and can't find work. Be thankful for what you have (be it your job, family, home) because it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.

It just amazes me that those that do have a job do most of the complaining. I have not had a job in 2 years and I am a good transcriptionist. If I am hired by ANYONE my goal would be to give that person my all and not complain.

If you don't like the WX posts, don't read them. Simple. Given the downhill spiral of the company, I think many WXers come here to vent. Perfectly understandable.
This type of response is what makes me lose sympathy very quickly - for WMXers or any other MT

Just because an MT is content with their job does NOT mean that MT is a "suit," management, or anything else. It simply means they are probably on a different account, have a different manager/team leader/whatever, and have had a different experience than YOU have had.
As soon as I see someone scrape the bottom of the barrel with the lackluster "suit" response, my sympathy drops to zero in a heartbeat. To me, such name-calling and attempted insults reflect the type of attitude the MT probably has toward his/her job as well and goes a long way in explaining why that poster is so unhappy with their job (and likely unhappy in other aspects of their life as well).
Sorry, but when I see the juvenile "suit" comeback in response to a post made by a content MT, it just makes the poster look bad IMO.
We're all MTs here, presumably with an excellent vocabulary. If you're going to attempt to insult another poster, please try to be a bit more creative. I'm certain I'm not the only reader of these boards whose eyes roll every time they see a post containing the stale old comeback of "suit."

I don't recall anyone asking for anyone's sympathy, let's not forget where we are posting, AND everyone has the right to post here. There is nothing wrong with posting good or bad for anyone. And like you said, anyone can have a different experience. It is not fair to down someone for posting their good experience ANY MORE then it is for "YOU" to down someone because they are posting their bad experience. It is a matter of choice of what you continue to read. If you don't like it, feel free to move on...freedom. It seems to me your vocabulary of "juvenile" is like the pot calling the kettle black.

..another thing I wanted to mention, funny thing I see every day, people seem to choose the "complaining" posts. Notice how many views there are on the ones with the names of companies..and the subject lines are fairly clear, yet they still get "viewed" and commented on. If you know it is going to bother you by the subject...

I never begrudged the person for their posting about their unhappiness. My objection is the way the standard retaliation of accusing someone with a differing opinion of being a "suit" rather than accept the fact that not EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE AT AN MTSO IS AS MISERABLE AS YOU ARE.
It's no wonder there's nothing but negativity on these boards most of the time. Whenever someone tries to post a POSITIVE experience, the "pity posse" come out in droves to accuse them of being management, post snide personalized comments, and in general do whatever they can to ensure that poster doesn't post again. I'm pretty certain you're the same poster who does all the "suit" accusations; if so, can't you figure out something more constructive to do with your time than accusing someone of being a manager or a suit just because they're obviously not experiencing the same job experience you are?

I don't think that anyone is really using the term "suit" as an insult. They're simply calling someone out if they suspect that they're not actually an MT... nothing juvenile about it. I for one believe that management from various companies will check this board to do damage control. MTStars posts will often come up during a simple Google search, and someone needs to smooth out those bumps in case a potential new hire - or even worse a potential new client - decides to do some research on the company. You can tell the MTs who are happy with their jobs from the "suits." Usually their posts are somewhat sympathetic and try to offer a bit of optimism. The "suits" like to come in and deny, deny, deny, be abrupt or nasty, or just discount what the poster has to say (like the one claiming that it's the same few people posting over and over again - very typical - even though I've caught people doing it... usually on the Politics board). And I think the New MTs board is infested with school recruiters... who else would actually recommend MT as a wise new career choice along with the name of a "very good school" and a message to e-mail them for more information? I guess I'm just trying to say that we're not trying to be insulting... just giving a heads up : )

I have to apologize because I was not the original anon. My post was the second anon. Anyways, yes I have work but not all the time. Anyone who has been in this business long enough knows it is feast or famine. I have learned over the years to save up in anticipation of the slow times. It isn't easy, but we manage to get by during the slow times.

And yes, there were sometimes (but not always) slower periods once or twice a year, usually sometime around the the summer or the time that school starts and then again around the holidays.
But this business has become feast or famine now at LEAST weekly and more like DAILY now...all because the MTSOs are overstaffing their accounts so they can give ridiculous turnaround times of an hour or less. So this leaves the MTs waiting and fighting over the few dictations that do come in. I used to run out of work MAYBE once or twice a year, but now I am running out of work DAILY.
So yes, I agree that good finanicial planning can help an MT get through the slow times, but NOT when the slow times are happening daily.
MT4toolong, how can you say a 1-hour turnaround is - ridiculous?

Our competition is front-end that produces a report immediately and our reason for being the patients who need all reports on the charts immediately. We continue to provide a valuable service or we disappear.
BTW, don't forget, 30 years ago was a different world. What happened then is about as relevant as comparing people bringing vegetables to the town market by horse-drawn wagon with the semis that draw up behind every supermarket every day.
BTW, 30 years ago the guy sitting next to me in a plane read or chatted. Today they're always working from takeoff to landing. It's not just us.

I have had a hard time also, but there ARE still ways to save..I am taking an on line coupon class, learning how to make the most of what I have, taking a Dave Ramsey class on finances, learning how to barter instead of just going and paying retail. And guess what, it often works! I just wanted to try to encourage everyone, but I do know how it feels to be totally out of money and no food on the shelves too, no fun!

Told Dr Complaining Sep 12, 2013We were told recently a doctor was complaining about the quality of our reports. I thought that strange as he has no accent and speaks very clearly. For You TransTechers Complaining Below, Did You Get The Email Jan 07, 2010that came out today explaining the insurance coverage and the costs? BCBS apparently uses PHCS for the employees who dont live in Michigan. I have actually heard of PHCS and its a huge network.
My insurance cost didn't go up with this change, so I am not sure why anyone else's would have unless you selected a higher level of coverage than you had before.
