Shaw's E mails literally crack me up! - mme

These stupid tips he gives in his e mails. Has he ever transcribed a day in his life?? My guess..no!
really... I mean, come on! what does he think we do all day? - our nails?

I seriously work as fast as I can every hour, but my dear Shaw... I don't have time to stretch or add up my lines till the end of the day! I have to pay for the roof over my head. With all the pay cuts I took, the crappy ASR, and NJA situation, I gotta edit like a crazy woman just to buy luxuries like a loaf of bread or peanut butter to go with the top ramen. Come on Shaw... I want a real tip!
power hour - the answer to all our problems!

Once again, words of a fool. He makes it sound like working harder for one hour out of 8 will somehow make our paychecks better. Of course he never mentioned what to do once you get the NJA message or how to make up the time you spend counting your lines or stretching getting ready for your power hour. Most of us are already working power hours every hour every shift. What is your advice then?
I am all for the "power hour" IF I can get work for - a straight hour!!!!

If I have constant work flow, I actually DO focus, focus, focus, and for a lot more than an hour. Now today I've already had to punch in and out several times due to NJA - not conducive to working the POWER HOUR SHAW!!!
Supposedly these are tips garnered from MT week essays last year. - dnr

Shaw is certainly is doing his best to look like he is doing something :-P. Amy did the same -- sendingMT tips from MT week essays last year.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he meets the same fate as Amy and for the same reasons.
Quite frankly Shaw... YOU Stink at your job. - Just saying.
in reading about the pressure cooker conditions we're all under trying to meet MModal's standards - and for minimum wage at that - I think, "Crack that whip!" Then from there, my mind goes to a story of a woman I once knew who was a supervisor of some kind, and she said once she meant to jokingly yell that out to the employees, but what came out of her mouth instead was, "Whip that crack!" She was mortified. I guess there's a funny side to everything. ...
Apparently they're exorbitantly priced, large percentages of their students default on their government loans, and they don't prepare the students adequately for the careers they promised. Sound familiar? ...
Finally quit. Except for leaving MM I have never felt such a load taken off my shoulders. I am going to a hospital system where historically they do not treat people like robots, or slaves. I was going to try to hang on here, by hermiting (do my job and not look at e mails, etc) but decided to try to get out and with a lot of job hunting it worked. I still cannot believe how much pressure has lifted. Oddly I no longer feel depressed. I guess now I know what was causing my sadness... I am not say ...
there is a whole long thread about people with NJA and no PTO time left because of it, people complaining about mandatory OT, AND comments about ads to hire more new MT's.
This company is truly weird. ...
These are the last 3 days of my notice. I thought I would be elated. Instead, I had a really really bad day (again). I have always done well, been in the business forever. I learned to hang on here a year, rarely if ever paid mind to the nasty e mails because I kept my nose to the grindstone. I managed to get bonus almost every payperiod the last several months, and last time got the big bonus.
All of a sudden out of nowhere about 3 weeks ago I suddenly sucked so bad as an MT it seems I ...
My region has just brought on a few new accounts which would be considered a good thing for most but here is my problem. I'm an MME so these new accounts are all 100% QA which means I've only made $0.03 cpl for days now. To make it a thousand times worse, it seems as if every doctor on one of our new accounts has a different set of samples and formatting to follow so when I'm not earning $0.03 cpl QA'ing other people's work I've got at least a dozen samples open ...
Was just falling asleep while transcribing a report. I kept nodding off. I had to rewind quite a few times to see what I may have missed. I usually don't have this problem, but I went to bed really late and had to get up earlier than usual so didn't get the sleep I normally do. What is a good wake up remedy? ...
I have noticed that my right index finger is a little bigger than the left, feeling a little tender, not real painful yet. I measured them and sure enough it IS bigger. Great, does this mean I'm getting arthritis or something? In my late 40s--am I old enough for this? Probably.
I just hope this doesn't get any worse. I'll be in big trouble. I had to drop my medical insurance. And if I can't work, I don't know w ...
I don't think I am going back to working here. My son thinks it isn't right for me to leave b/c of a bad boss who micromanages everyone until they cannot breathe. I have another source for money and for the little I make here it isn't worth the effort anymore. Just writing to warn others about the micromanaging done here. The pay is so little, it isn't worth it. Thanks for listening. I know this is a negative move on my behalf regarding money but you cannot take m ...
I once took great pride in the practice of medical transcription. Funny that we didn't call ourselves "editors" then, because the fact is that we really were editors in much more of the true sense of that word than we are now. A true editor can take garbage, stomp it, filter it, ferment it, age it, and ultimately bring forth a bottle of delicious wine from it.
This, we did also. From garbage dictations, we used superior language skills, a knowledge of many subjects, skill ...
"productivity tips" have finally jumped the shark. I think most of us who have been doing this job for more than about a week understand that keeping a neat desk and not checking feedback while working are conducive to productivity. Here's a tip for you: Treat highly skilled and knowledgable workers like valued assets who are able to make choices and decisions on their own, not like robotic drones who have no clue how to get work accomplished. Otherwise spare us the ...
One of his tips was:
Try something new - Exchange your foot pedal for a keyboard shortcut to toggle your audio!
Hmmmm... I don't find a keyboard shortcut to toggle the audio on and off. I only know/find the shortcuts for toggling speed and for toggling tone.
I have checked F1. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the audio on/off toggle keyboard shortcut is? I really doubt there is one. Double checking for confirmation.
Thanks ...
Perhaps Shaw should have one of us working for him so he doesn't send out "important" emails like taking everything away from everybody with a typo!!
"You will receive an FAQ document in a separate email to help answer questions you may have."
...
Sent out tip number 10 but inserted tip number 9!!! Too bad we cant take away their bonuses, hey? Oops... you are now in performance management shaw. You pay is cut in half and you will now be micromanaged until you poke your own eyes out. Now get to work!!! Mandatory OT for you. ...
I have worked so hard all day, have next to nil inactive time, and still, barely the minimum line count. I would especially like him to do the last report with the horrible scratchy sound with the doctor alternatively blasting out my ears and not talking into the phone, and the horrible output.
Ha, ha - spend a day in our shoes. What a challenge :) I doubt he is up for the challenge, though. ...
She said, "retype more". She had nothing else to say after watching me work.
I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts, but I can still mouse faster. The secret to being fast on the mouse is learning to use it on the left side of the keyboard so you don't have to reach back and forth past the number pad. It's only mere inches when it is on the left side. I have never found a way to Ctl Alt I with all my fingers on the keys.
Again Shaw, spend a day (or better yet, a week) in our sho ...
I am looking for an Mmodal email address for Shaw. They seem to hide his email like a snake hides in the grass...hmm.... I would like to ask him about ASR and why each time they "upgrade" it, the system gets worse and worse. I am also going to petition him for our line rates to be increased as this system does not do what he said it was intended to do - make our jobs easier. The whole reason our pay was cut was because he thought we were making too much money with the new and e ...
Eye on quality?? Wow..so informative..not! How about an eye on paying professional MT's a decent wage, what about that Shaw??? You get what you pay for ...
Whatever my count is, too bad. With the sorry excuse for ASR that we given to edit, let the chips lay where they might. Whatever my line count is, I am doing the best I can - as confirmed by the fact I have next to no nonproductive time showing on my statistics. ...
