[ In Reply To ..]There are probably a grand total of 20 people on this board who say they are not going to do overtime. There is a pretty good chance that most of those who are working overtime, never said that.

[ In Reply To ..]I'm one of those people who works OT whenever I can. I need the money. It may be their fault my pay has gone down over $10,000 a year in the past 5 years, but my mortgage company and utility companies don't care; they send my monthly bills, regardless.
Their poor planning and management decisions have at least allowed me to work OT and not have to drive to a second job 30 miles away. So for now, I'll work extra hours when I can. Go ahead and dislike. I care more about being able to pay my bills on time.
OT - The pay is horrible
[ In Reply To ..]I am with Mountainwoman, I need the $$, so I jump on it, but what gets me is that what I make working so-called OT, is what I used to make on a regular basis if not more. Time and a half of practically nothing equals not much. Like the other post, if my bills would go down like my salary did, I would be okay; guess it doesn't work that way though. Too bad!

Once you get set they mandatory change your schedule, as if you have NOTHING in life beyond this miserable place, and we comply because we are so freaking broke we have no choice. I'm sorry but at some point in life, you have to make a stand. I will skip a meal rather than work OT, as long as the kids and dogs have food, I can suffer through. I cannot possibly sit any longer to make enough OT to make a real difference. I will not be abused anymore. I can't take the stress anymore, so I cut it where I can. I don't care about them anymore. The ONLY thing I care about is that I do the best job I can so that patient care is never compromised. Not working a second extra, if they don't like it fire me, I could probably get SSDI from the problems caused by sitting here all day long, I just choose not to be dependent on the gvt.

Those that allow this to happen and say MT has changed and we need to just roll with it, must be new. This used to be a profession, it used to be a job you could count on to pay the bills, this used to be a job to be proud of. I look in docqumanage and see the crap that is in there. I'm not talking typos, I am talking medications that don't exist, words that don't exist, equipment that is wrong, and it is embarrassing.

Not Getting Overtime Pay???

I work second shift, so, due to the time change from PST to CST, after 10 pm my time, the last hour of my shift shows up as the next day. I worked 1.5 hours this morning and then my regular 2:30-11 pm shift, so I figure I should be paid for 1.5 hours overtime, but my calculated time (I recently discovered this on the current time card page) shows me as only getting credit for 0.5 hours overtime with 8 RT (Regular time) + 0.5 OT hours showing up on Sunday and then 1 hour showing up on Monday as ...

Could the suits be so devious as to require mandatory overtime so it temporarily boosts income so they look like they are paying a living wage? Or is there just a supply/demand problem?
