Just gave my notice! - mecmt

Posted: Aug 11, 2011

Just gave my notice! Working for the Q was just too stressful! Pay was crap, hours were crap.  I couldn't take it anymore! I went from an awesome job making about 25 bucks an hour with great hours to the Q? My other company closed down (it was local) thanks to EMR.  I must have been desperate.  Just accepted another job for better pay and better hours..

Congrats! Hope you enjoy your new job. - good for you

Are you still in transcription then? I didnt know there were jobs that paid better than the Q at this point.

I do wish you every happiness and look forward to the day I can post that message!

Thanks - mecmt

It will be both transcription and VR but the pay is much better than the Q..I was only making 8 cpl and 4 cpl at the Q and now will be making 9 cpl and 5 cpl plus the holiday incentive is better. I know you hear good and bad with every company but I have yet to hear anything good about the Q. I am moving to Transcend. I had posted for opinions last week and didn't really get any negative input..(nobody said to run for my life)..LOL and anything is better than the Q

Congratulations! NM - Daisy

RE: mecmt - me too

I gave mine on Monday, have yet to hear from anyone. I got a job working at one of those big chain pet stores for 13 bucks an hour as an assistant manager. It isn't much, I know, but it is definitely an improvement! It will be very physical too. I'll have to work on Saturdays, which I never have, but for peace of mind, it's worth it. Like the people below were posting, my paychecks have been down to 500 and under. I haven't heard one word from MQ regarding my notice though. Guess they really don't care. Good luck to you!

I am glad - mecmt

I am glad I gave my notice and they haven't contacted me yet about it either! I had sent the email to my CCM and to my QC...I had mentioned in the email that the OLC group is useless when you have 60 ppl in it and no one ever helps you and today when I was working my QC was ever so helpful! LOL a little too late..which tells me she read my email about quitting, but she didnt say anything to me about it..hmmm

I am glad - Cupcakes

Is it Medquist you're talking about. My former coworker and i were let go (me after 13 yrs, her after like 4!) from a company (devastating) and I went from making $20/hr, great hours, full benefits, to LESS THAN $300.00 a paycheck and no benefits, so far for where I am now working (a national). Was looking into ANY better company ti test for, for MT...but it appears there isn't much out there from all the posts I've read here and how depressing! :( I am going to go back to school after 20 years in this business, it looks like!

so after reading some MTStars Forum job listings (which I have not been doing for a few years now due to typing almost 24/7 to make ends meet) I see a lot of IC jobs out there...which is the way it used to be 10 years ago...so I'm wondering...is it better to be an IC and take the tax deductions or just get with a good company as an employee...

I was an IC for 9 years before the Q and I really truly loved it. The tax deductions were nice but very complicated to record everything, right down to the last mile on my car (I was typing tapes). I didn't pay quarterly which was a bad idea because the IRS took all of my husbands money to pay my taxes but the paychecks I got through the year were nice because of it.

I too was an IC from 1987 to 1999 when MedQ bought out "your office genie" the company I IC'd with and then I was with MedQ until June when they let me go for not keeping up with production (I had a moonlight job as an IC with a small company that took on a cardiologist group and the start-up was rough and took way too much of my time) I worked MedQ from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. M-F and when I was starting up that IC cardiologist group--well it cut into my MedQ hours and I had a low production for 2 pay periods and got axed...so now I am looking for another job (still have the moonlighting job)...but I do not know if I should use MedQ as a reference (can they tell the future employer that I was let go??? its a real bummer...

great news!! - many more to follow - verla

hope the Q is getting what they're wishing for by forcing MTs to leave because of their crappy treatment -- as always, I truly believe Karma will get 'em in the end!!

Exactly Why I Gave No Notice

I read the post below from the MDI/Transcend MT who is struggling with BeyondTXT.  When I was informed last week that this platform was going to be installed on my computer in a day or so and then training would take place for God knows how long, I  hung up during the conference call and immediately resigned.  I had started another job, which I was going to give a trial period before leaving Transcend, but I realized that taking the time and effort to learn this unfriendly user pl ...

Gave Notice To The Q
Dec 14, 2010

Hi all.  I've been doing medical transcription for over 20 years, and have been with the Q for almost 12 years (the first year in the office and at home, and then they sent us all home).  Been through all kinds of changes, from working in the local office and at home, to working at home, to being moved to the responsibility of another office, to that office closing down, then to working for a "virtual office" and finally a "service area."  I lost count of how many superv ...

Encore Gave Me Bad Paychecks
Aug 07, 2013

I thought I found a good company to work for until I got a two returned checks from them in the mail. The first time I thought mistakes can be made but AGAIN my check was returned. That really upsets me because I work hard for this company and they give me a bad check. There is no excuse for doing this to an employee. I have not been contacted about this check and I just quit because enough is enough. This is very dishonest and unprofessional to say the least. I have a family to take care ...
