...I can assure you, the MTSO I work for will not be giving anything. As a matter of fact, they will probably come up with something else they can take away from us. :(
Mine did - I got

I got candy, too - Happy Mom

Every year we get the most wonderful chocolate bars. My family and I really appreciate them! They came a couple of days ago--YUM! And thank you!
I got a 100.00 Visa Gift Card - Synernet
[ In Reply To ..]
It was a pleasant surprise as I have only been with the company a year. Synernet You Rock!!!
Ditto on the Gift Card - Stubby
[ In Reply To ..]
Yeah, that was a wonderful surprise!! I can't remember the last time I got a significant holiday gift from an MTSO! Happy Holidays indeed!
Glad you're still here -- hadn't seen any posts by you sm - Another Synernet MT

and thought maybe you had left. I was surprised by the gift card. It was a thoughtful and generous gesture.
Aww - you missed me!! - Stubby

How nice to be missed or at least noticed that I wasn't around!! I actually had to have surgery a couple of months ago and just getting back to my normal routine which includes snooping on the forums!
Unless things change drastically, I hope to retire from Synernet! I know changes are coming, but for this past year I really couldn't have asked for more in terms of job satisfaction. Yeah, we had a little bit of a lull over the last few weeks, but it seems to be picking up again and with the generous leave accrual, if I do run out of work, at least I can take leave at my $20+ base rate so it doesn't hurt as bad as it would otherwise.
No place is perfect, but I still believe I've got it pretty good, especially when I read some of the horror stories on this forum!
Sorry about the surgery -- glad you're still around. sm :-) - Another Synernet MT

I enjoy someone who is positive. I know all too often I can let negative thoughts creep into my head. My main complaint with Synernet is that T is perhaps the worst supervisor I have ever encountered when it comes to answering emails. She either doesn't answer me at all or answers a month later. I think it shows a huge amount of disrespect. That being said, it is a beef with her and not the company as overall I am happy. The benefits are wonderful. It could be far worse.

not over staffing, i.e., never seeing NJA for the rest of this year and throughout the new year, IMO.
AND pay out any unused PTO for the year... - sad
[ In Reply To ..]
I will lose mine January 1st and I will have almost 50 hours unused. I couldn't even take off the rest of the year if I wanted to. I worked all year w/o more than 2 days off and now I will all that PTO. That extra would mean alot. I'd rather have that than a gift card or candy.
why arent you using it? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm confused at people who allow themselves to be taken advantage of. Why don̢۪t you take the time off?
Been wondering that myself... - see msg
[ In Reply To ..]
Long story short, I do take quite a bit of PTO throughout the year, usually 1-2 days a month or like half days for a week at a time. But whatever I do use gets racked back up again with my next paychecks. No one is allowed to take the last two weeks off of the year (we are told this) and besides OMG emergency (and even then we are asked to flex or make up!), we are required to give 2 weeks' notice for PTO. Too late now. I do have PTO I am using by 12/31 but I will have leftover time to use. Once 1/1 hits we are only allowed 8 hours to carry over. Last year I had overage too and had to use it up by 1/31 or lose it. (I was emailed about it). I asked if they pay it out, they said no. It's stupid and unfair but it's basically a use it or lose it situation for PTO. I really could use all that unpaid PTO right now as "bonus" just to catch up too.
So in order to avoid that for 2014 (if I'm still with this MTSO) I am no longer scheduling any doctor appts, dentist, haircuts, etc. on my only day off. I'm just going to pick a day and a time for the first available appointment and then use PTO.
You know, just listening to you - you sound like you might be getting sick
[ In Reply To ..]
Know what I mean? You just sound like you are coming down with something bad, something that will lay you low for 2-3 days. Or maybe the power will go out, or maybe your foot pedal won't work or maybe your ISP will be having issues. Or maybe...
It's pretty crappy they don't pay it out. My one carries over up to 40 hours. Or is this PTO from the year before? You really have to use it all except 8 hours? Not good.
Actually I do feel a little *cough cough* LOL - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
No PTO from last year. It all starts Jan 1st and ends Dec 31st. All PTO is based on production. It's basically use it or lose it. Only 8 hours can be carried over. When Jan 1st comes, my time card will show 8 hours in the PTO slot no matter who much I had in there (unless you have less than 8 then it will show the actual hours of PTO you do have). And yes, I agree, it is NOT good! I calculated with my horrible math skills that if I got my 50 hours PTO paid out at my line rate that would be $500 plus! Could really use it right now too! My goal is to be out of MT by next Dec 31st. And I've been trying!!!

Synernet ET - Grateful MT
[ In Reply To ..]
At Synernet our ET rolls over from year to year and we can cash it in, just have to commit in December how much we will want to cash in the next year then can get it all at once or smaller amounts during the year at any time. They just recently put a cap on how much we can have in the bank, don't remember exactly how much but it's a lot.

Gave Notice To The Q Dec 14, 2010Hi all. I've been doing medical transcription for over 20 years, and have been with the Q for almost 12 years (the first year in the office and at home, and then they sent us all home). Been through all kinds of changes, from working in the local office and at home, to working at home, to being moved to the responsibility of another office, to that office closing down, then to working for a "virtual office" and finally a "service area." I lost count of how many superv ...
