It is only 1 hour into my shift, and my hands are shot already - horrible ASR

Posted: Jan 05, 2014

So many corrections and so much missing punctuation that I an excruciatingly sore already! I was barely able to move my hands last night because they hurt from so many corrections. Grrrrr

Is it do you think arthritis or simply muscle strain from overuse? - I do have an idea to help. NM

hands hurt - Heather

I have worked since 1993 as a MT, working 7 days a week, 16 or more hours a day, only when work was low I didnt work as much. Now when I dont use my hands or try not to work much for that day, I can barely move them or bend them. I have disks that are out, bursitis in my elbows, my feet hurt and my knee is messed up from having a surgery that didnt turn out well and sciatic pain, but yet Im still working bec to get disability they want to you stop working. Impossible!! and my pain meds and office visit costs me 150 a month bec I dont have insurance. Went to a great career to a OMG career...

hand pain - smmt

My hand pain is/was related to ulnar nerve compression after 30 years of being an MT.

Swine Flu Shot?
Apr 14, 2010

Has anyone gotten the swine flu shot, as in those working in hospitals or in home.  They say it is on the rise again and I am debating on whether to get it.  I work at home, so no risk from hospitals, but I do have kids in school to bring it home to me.  They say the 30-somethings (me) get a VERY bad case of it and the kids are usually fine?  So much info and so many decisions, makes you want to wear a mask on a day to day basis. ...

$170.00 FOR A TETANUS SHOT!!!????
Apr 18, 2013

Went to the doctor's office this morning to get my tetanus shot updated because I fell the other day and cut myself and Dr. said my last tetanus shot was 10 years ago.  When I told them I did not have any insurance that it would cost me $170.00 because they were required to charge an "administrative fee" (hospital-owned practice).  I just about swallowed my tongue!  Fortunately the lady checking me in suggested I go to the Health Department and I could get it m ...

Hard Drive Shot...now What?
Jun 21, 2010

OK, here's the scoop. I am working on an older company-provided Dell running XP that's basically on the very last of its legs (got the blue screen of death this morning but was able to finally get to Windows and into my program). I talked with our IT guy today, and he said to get a new hard drive and have the old info transferred (at my expense, because of new company rules). I work on ChartScript.net and asked if that ran on Vista because I could then use my laptop, our only other com ...

CO Hospital Employees Threatened W/ Firing If They Don't Get Flu Shot
Oct 06, 2012

This makes me REALLY glad I am getting the hell out of health care!   These draconian measures are being implemented across the country.  Most require that ALL employees -- even those who work off-site and have zero patient contact -- receive the toxic injection or they will lose their job.    Check out the comments.  I was VERY heartened to see that the vast majority of them are by posters opposed to the mandate (several very educated MDs and RNs po ...

Average Per Hour With 0.75 Or 0.375 Versus $12.00 Per Hour
Mar 31, 2014

My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour.  I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl.  The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years.  The other is an IC position.  Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate?  I have never done production by line work so I'm not sur ...

Hands-On
Feb 07, 2011

I have worked for Hands-On for a few years now and I think it is a well run company. I recently had surgery for breast cancer, and the owner and manager were very compassionate and concerned for my well being. They are always available to help if I have a question. It is one of the best jobs I have had. You have to work hard, but after all it is a job and if you follow the "rules and regulations" regarding quality of work and turn around time you will get along just fine. You also transcrib ...
