I'm not sure I fully understand the role of our - whodat

"QC coaches."  Anyone really know ~ because I am curious.

I don't know, but mine is clueless & gives incorrect info very often. - nm

I wish they would quality coach their only QA - people. So many incorrect

changes being made to reports.

I'm an MME/SHDA, and my QC lets me know my mistakes. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If I've erroneously changed something in an MT's report and the MT points it out to my QC or TSM, they let me know. I NEED to know when I've been an airhead and made a mistake or mislead someone. I learn from my mistakes just like everyone else should.

Unfortunately, if the MT stays silent....

Email forwarder - CT

The rumor was they were supposed to "coach" us to quality, but I think they just forward complaining emails they get from the client...

I totally agree! If I ask mine a question - whodat

[ In Reply To ..]
she always refers me somewhere instead of answering my question. Why can't she just answer? Is she that busy?

She gets a lot of emails ;) - CT

[ In Reply To ..]
Could you imagine having to distribute complaints from all those grumpy accounts every day to 100+ MTs? Holy glorified mail clerk, Batman!
Lots of e-mails - Poor thing!

That's her job! If you are a garbage collector, don't expect to pick flowers! I really don't understand all of these acronym positions and yet we are constantly paid less!

because she doesn't know the answer. - kayz

We know so much more than they do.

I would imagine if cuts start happening, that's where they'll start. - Seems like an unnecessary position. NM

One and only time I'd probably disagree - s

I actually do like my QC. She is helpful when I ask questions, answers emails.

My QC is always available as well. - Fights for me on audits too.

[ In Reply To ..]
In fact, she will look at audits and fight for reversal even before I see them sometimes.

She is sweet and always available.

Boy did I luck out in team assignments.

You and I must have the same QC - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Mine is a "fighter" too, for the team on Audits. She listens to ALL critical errors and has many of them reversed even before passing the Audit on to us. Most people never even know she does this.
Well dang - I'm jealous!!! Sure wish mine - whodat

was like that!

Went from amazing producer (3d in a group of over 100 and top 1/3 of QA) to couldn't do anything right, to failed audits, 100% Qa and termination.
How are failed audits your QC's fault. She has nothing - to do with your audits. nm

This was based on someone saying her QC fought for her even with the audits.

Anyone Has Yet Been Fully Transitioned To DQS 6.1?
Mar 09, 2012

I was curious whether or not anyone has yet been fully transitioned to DQS 6.1?  Like the age/gender discrepancy feature or the banned content feature?  I keep asking my CCM and really getting nothing in answer.  I just wondered if this has completely fallen by the wayside or if its something that my CCM just hasn't activated yet.  I feel so ridiculous having taken the training, waiting with baited breath hoping for an easy way to make sure that drs got the gender and age right and just ...

Question Regarding Role Of CCM.
Jul 05, 2013

Does anyone know what the role of the CCM is? It seems all they do is make sure there's adequate coverage for all of the accounts, so MT scheduling/schedule adherence, accepting or denying PTO requests, some Teamwork stuff, approving time sheets -- what am I missing? Also, does anyone know how much they get paid? This seems like the easiest job in the world, considering no weekends, no holidays. I hear from mine about once every 2 weeks when she sends out reminders to approve your time shee ...

WOMAN'S ROLE
Mar 31, 2014

In answer to my original post to Val, only 2 issues here, Val:1. We are almost all woman. It is run like a system that once historically ran hospitals. We are not a Walmart, Kmart, Target, McDonalds. We are skilled workers, women for the most part, and from the old days, historically this has been a woman's role/job in a fraternity of higher powers, the men who once often had nuns as cohorts filling this postion for no pay at all.2. Although some individual hospitals may not care about thei ...

MT Role - Always Evolving (FACT - Brief Response)
Apr 14, 2011

The role of the MT is always evolving.  No doubt we are all trying to figure out a way to stay afloat.  One of those ways could be for the MT to go beyond just transcription into assisting with the clinical documentation (including the complicated ICD-10).  Some doctors believe that medical transcription is one of the least efficient parts of their medical practice.   Certainly, many MT's have moved beyond transcription into speech recognition Medical Editors ...

I Understand What You're Saying, But......
Dec 29, 2009

What you say is true, BUT when 90% of your work is off-shored except for 10% and you barely have any work, and the work you have is 100% ESL (the absolute worst dictators ever) you make minimum wage.  The fact that I'm a much better MT than the ILPs does nothing to comfort me at this point when I have bills to pay. If you don't believe this scenario, then you have not experienced it.  Try being in SA3.  BTW, I'm scheduled for 24 hours per we ...

Okay, Please Help Me To Understand....
Sep 15, 2010

Everyone says with VR you can double your line count. I want to know what was their line count typing? On my account, I can type anywhere from 250 to 300 lines in an hour. I've been doing VR now for almost 2 months. I'm editing around 300 lines in an hour, however, I'm being paid 50% less. I was told I would not have to work MORE hours to make the same, but would work the SAME hours and make more. I have an extensive autocorrect and use it a lot. I'm finding that many of the ...

An 84 year old monitored for diagnoses of renal failure, anemia and hypertension. 586, 285.9, 403.90. It seems to me that the last code should be 401.90. I don't understand why the code 403.9 was selected.  The guidelines say you should "assign codes from category 403, hypertensive chronic kidney disease, when conditions classified to category 585 are present." There is only the 586, renal disease, present in this scenario. Can anybody tell me why a 403 code is appropriate here? ...

Something I Just Do Not Understand
Apr 09, 2013

You know, I have worked in a health care facility ever since I graduated from college.   My supervisors have always tried to foster a spirit of teamwork -- how we all, working together, can accomplish the goals set out for us.  As a result, I believe in building people up, not tearing them down.  And I have seen such GREAT examples of that here.  When I first posted on this board, I was so upset about a job decision I had made that I was ready to quit, and with the ...

Help Me Understand

First, let me start by saying I've worked as an MT for 25 years.  The company I started with was eaten up my Medquist years ago, now MModal, and I've worked at home for the past 20 years. I've lately seen many posts by MTs wishing they were paid 15 minutes a day for reading emails, paid for taking coffee breaks, and would get cost of living raises, Christmas gifts from their employer, flowers on their birthday, and some sort of gift acknowledgement during MT week.  I u ...

What I Don't Understand About Locking Out
Mar 05, 2010

According to the suits, they whole reason for this locking-us-out-unless-we-are-scheduled thing was because some of us were not working when we were supposed to or clocking in and working when we weren't scheduled.  Okay, at any other job, if someone clocked in or out when they were not supposed to without notifying anyone, they would get written up 3 times and then fired.  Why do they spend so much time and resources putting this stupid, probably messy idea into play, when they ...

What Do You Do When You Can't Hear Or Understand?
Nov 17, 2010

For the first time in a long time, I was in the cesspool.  I spent 3 hours with an ESL serial dictator, that was speaking so softly I couldn't hear most of what he was saying, and what I could hear I couldn't understand.  In one of the reports I only got 5 random words after spending a half-hour on it - and it was only 20 seconds long.  What should we do in cases like this - when you literally just Can't Get It, and not for lack of trying.   ...

This Is What I Don't Understand About Outsourcing
Jan 07, 2013
