How long does it take to receive approval of PTO? - justwondering

The request is only a week old, for a week off at the end of June. I have to make a non-refundable deposiit as soon as possible, as beach houses are going quickly. Do you think it is permissible to ask TSM to approve it ASAP? How long does it normally take to get approval?

My TSM is really on the ball so my PTO is usually approved within a few days. It certainly wouldn't hurt to send her a quick email and explain that you need to put a deposit down and ask her to approve it. It's my understanding that we cannot be denied our PTO as long as we give the appropriate notice.... but I don't know if that policy is across the board or if some TSMs actually deny PTO. I've never been denied PTO even once in 25 years.

With how light work has been I doubt they would have any reason to tell you know. My TSM is also pretty good about approving, but I'd just send an email and tell her what the deal is and if you don't hear no you are going to assume it will be approved. I have never been told no to PTO by my TSM, but they may not all be as accommodating.

It definitely depends on your TSM. I put in 2 months ago for time off and still have not heard anything. I sent an email to my TSM yesterday regarding it and still no word. Kind of hard to plan a vacation when they will not respond. Ridiculous!!!

I have the same problem. Mine likes to wait until the last minute and - its too late then. SM

Bet they like to get their own PTO requests approved in a timely fashion so they can make plans though.

Of all the MQ employees here scheduled to work on Saturdays, has anyone been approved to have off Christmas Day? I put in my request exactly 60 days ahead of time (since we can't do it before that) and have yet to hear anything. Before: average 10,000 lines of VR/week @0.413 per line = $413 PLUS weekly incentive averaging $100+/week = $513/week which I can live with. For my last pay period I did not recieve my pay (part-time at Breitner). I contacted payroll person by E-mail and phone, and she told me that for some reason, the pay did not "download" into the PayChex system (they use PayChex).
