Has anyone asked their TSM to move them to another BOB? - anon

How did this go ... did your TSM take it personally or is it strictly business? My BOB is constantly, constantly out of work. If I stay put in this BOB I will go under, but I also don't want to target myself or get in the radar as being disloyal or a "ship-jumper". Can anyone share their experience with this, and how the conversation went down with their TSM?

I went through Human Resources, but it wasn't for NJA, it was because they put me on an account that I had no experience on at that time and was told I would be doing something else. I went from the frying pan into the fire though. I finally quit; no winning with this place. Besides how many other "BOB" (how I hate those acronyms all over the place) are NJA. I wish I could put some initials here!

Are you kidding; you're worried about that? Do you think they care about you, even your TSM doesn't. You should be provided work, after all they hired you! I cannot believe what MTs will tolerate and then feel they need to do the right thing. Good luck. There probably isn't any work anywhere else either.

Wow, the replies on this board NEVER cease to amaze me. "Nobody cares about you", that's one fine message to give someone.

Here ... I'll see if I can answer your question and I'll see if I can answer it like a decent human being.

Switching Books of Business happens ALL. THE. TIME. It's no big deal, it's not personal and the TSMs know this. Truth is, if your area is that low on work, your TSM might even be looking for someone to switch, or to move to other BOBs, so I would just call her up and say something totally non threatening and impersonal like, "I know we're really slow right now so I just wanted to touch base and let you know it's OK to consider moving me to another BOB if you need someone to volunteer."

Like I said, it's done all the time ... employees request to be moved, and TSMs initiate the moves, but it's done almost daily. Your TSM should have no problem with this request at all. Good luck, and I hope you get an area with more work.

The people here can be unbelievably, incredibly nasty. You KNOW something is wrong with a board when a nice or helpful post gets disliked. What does that tell you.

I hope no one around here ever chokes on a piece of meat - they're more likely to get brow-beaten than saved.

I e-mailed a different supervisor who had filled in for our BOB and told her I needed to be where there was work. I got switched and was moderately happy (except for making no money which is why I finally quit).

The company doesn't recognize it. Just a sweat shop. By all means request to be moved or have more accounts added to your list. Sometimes even that is enough.

It seems that different parts of the country have different saturations of foreign doctors. When I worked the VA/NC area for another company, there weren't that many. I can't stand them anymore, but I pretty much always have work, so for now I am going to suffer through.

Check out the bonuses for employees in India. My thought is the big N is making a move to transport as many MT jobs to India as possible (low work volumes) and employees in US are getting what is left behind. Home-based employees in India send reports to QA or Editor. If it goes to Editor, Bingo, maybe that's your job, correcting what someone in a foreign market cannot possibly understand. Evidently it is an unwritten rule at my company that when you are asked to work hours outside of your shift, or over 40 hours, it is a given that you are to do so with no extra pay.
