I asked her if I was supposed to pull work out of the air?? I was so angry!! Are these people clueless or just stupid? I asked her if she thinks I like making no money and why would I show up every day that I am supposed to and do nothing?? I told her that I knew what the company was trying to do and that I Would Not Quit, so they had better find another reason to get rid of me. I asked her if she knew of this website and that the MModal MTs actually "do" talk to each other and we know what is going on with the company. We are not clueless and simple-minded. She didn't have much to say but to hang in there. Also, I could tell the phone call was being recorded---it beeped throughout the conversation.
Are you serious? She recorded the conversation? - Isnt that illegal?

Well, for sure now your TSM is going to know that you posted this if you told her to read this board and you stated exactly what you said to her.
I am not sure that they are trying to get you to quit as much as just waiting for anyone to quit due to low volumes after shifting offshore. If two other MTs quit, then you would have work again.
I dont like the fact that she made you feel like it was just you when there are so many without work.

I think they think that we sit at home and only go by what they tell us. I have no problem if she is reading this. The question was obsurd. I agree, making me feel like it was "just me" that was having this problem was very low.

If you are so overstaffed now, why not transfer those MTs to areas that have work. They are still hiring for the love of all that is holy. I dont know why everyone at this company pushes the buck off to someone else and not just take some damn responsibility.
If you have too many MTs, treat them with the dignity and respect that you would want to be treated with. Give them the option to reduce hours, transfer to another region, or God forbid, LAY THEM OFF.
Cant anyone at this company just do the right thing? ANYONE?

The TSMs used to be able to move people around or transfer them to another TSM to help get accounts caught up or whatever but not anymore. Now the TSM just recommends which MTs could be transferred and it is up to the VP to find them a place. But there are so many hoops to jump through a transfer can take weeks or months. As an MT you are not told which account you are going to, which TSM, and only given the option of working the schedule the new TSM has available. If you refuse it is considered job abandonment. You may also have to learn an entire new platform also.
No, there is no respect or dignity anymore. They truly are deaf to the cries for work and even have the nerve to blame the MTs because we are working too fast. So it is all our faults we are out of work. Shame on us for wanting a paycheck.

Recording the conversation isn't a good sign as far as continued employment with this company. Then again, why would you want to continue being tortured like this. I agree though - don't quit, let them fire you. Even though there isn't enough work for US MTs, they keep hiring new, inexperienced people that they don't bother to train properly.

a disaster. They're completely out of touch with their employees & have no idea what's going on, nor do they care as long as they make their bonuses. If they'd make them strictly an hourly position & eliminate the bonuses, that would be a start. Also someone needs to periodically monitor/audit what they're doing & how they're dealing with their employees. The TSMs are a disaster. The bottom line is we have no direct supervisor we can count on to help solve a problem, assign work, etc. Most of us feel as if we're thrown out here alone while the TSMs rake in the money.
Why not make a suggestion to ASK VERN - tell him how much...

they would save if they took away just their bonuses! Not to mention, cut their pay because they are not doing their jobs! It is supposed to be a Transcription Service Manager, they are supposed to deal with just the transcriptionists now. No customers anymore. How hard can it be. They should get their pay cut in half. Half the work... like ASR is for us... the whole reason they cut our pay.

the last email we got from Vern, about the latest survey, said they are going to begin manager training and development. I would assume they got enough complaints about absentee managers that they decided they needed to address this. (Sad that next time we'll have to complain about the email system again and they'll have to go through big fanfare about giving us a new system that works better. Just now, trying to access the email from Vern, I had to get an act of congress.)

I've been getting work so I guess I should consider myself lucky even though the work is the worst I've ever done in 40 years. However, it infuriates me that they can tell MTs to take "excused no pay" for as many days as they like and then, when you have no PTO or, in my case, don't get any PTO and you miss a day because you are sick, they tell you to make it up by working at night. Well, I don't work at night so if they want to fire me the next time this happens, they can have at it.
