Can they legally do this? My hire paperwork - mtx
Posted: Mar 02, 2010
states my pay per line, nothing about 5% submission rate. Can the rules be changed so drastically, virtually cutting my pay in half for ASR (I make 6.3 cpl for ASR)?
yes - anon

it's something new and drastic at least once a month. Be glad you are at 6.3. I've been there 5 years and make less than that for ASR:(
Please, please do not take this personally - Aimed at MQ

You are a new hire and they hired you in at 6.3 cpl for ASR? I have been with this company through all its ups and downs, worked the night shift which I hate, work weekends and OT for just going on 7 years now and they are hiring new people in on more than I make now? Please know I do not in any way begrudge you at all, I AM MAD AT ME for taking all this bulloney and now finding out at a lesser rate of pay than new people in. I would love to know their new hire rate for transcription. I knew MedQuist did not value me or my experience or loyalty, now I guess they have put a price on that.

I have been here 13 years and make less than that...
I am MAD AT ME TOO!
I am so mad, the stress is too much, I just absolutely cannot take this anymore. Omg... what has my life become?
Me too. Been with MQ since the early 90s and only get - 5 cents for ASR.

I get so mad reading what these newbies are making.

was a new hire. Just because she has hire paperwork doesn't mean it's new. Why do people not read posts correctly on here, or just assume things???
Well smack me down and - Give me a critical error on my audit!

Do you feel better now? Maybe we jump to conclusions because MQ does crummy things to their "valuable" employees on such a regular basis, we all just expect it.
What the heck is a hire paperwork anyway. - Especially stating your pay.

The only paper I received from this company was paperwork back in 1988. What the heck is a hire paperwork unless you are fairly new.
I was hired into a company last week. Now, I am asked to be trained without signing any new employee paperwork and to get started immediately. I was told my paperwork would come via email and I should sign and send it back, but I have yet to receive anything, but I am being pushed to start transcribing reports. Might this be so that they can decide if they want me to stay or not. Are they trying to see my work first before they send me the full employee packet. ...
fill a blank? Wouldn't that encourage guessing on a legal/medical document? I didn't think it was that easy to dock someone's pay in this country with our labor laws. ...
I can see once in awhile but this is crazy. I have a lot of trouble with my left arm and can barely get through a shift let alone an extra hour. I'm also so mentally and physically tired by the end of my 3rd day my production starts to suck. Can they make us do this OT? I haven't done it the past 2 weeks except for 3 days of it and I suffered with severe pain in my arm. If they fire me, will I be elligible for UE? No, I haven't gone to a doctor because this insurance sucks a ...
How do you know if a school you're thinking about enrolling in is operating legally? Where do you go for that information?
I know it's important because if they go out of business and are operating illegally, you lose everything. It's also means they are monitored as far as being a legitimate business, qualification of instructors, etc. Is there a list of agencies to contact for each state?
I'm questioning a school because if they were licensed, it would say so on all ...
The company I'm working for has no way to verify my line count on line, nor do they provide a count on my paystub. I have no way to verify the lines they are paying me for. Is this legal? ...
Just curious: Any MDI MTs not feeling like jumping through the hoops, printing out the paperwork for Transcend on THEIR deadline even though we don't become official employees until Feb 1? Anybody going to just quit and save yourself the hassle? Doesn't seem quite fair to want MDI MTs to just say "how high" when they say "jump" does it? I'm just put out at how we've been treated. Yeah, it's business, and that usually means it is okay t ...
It has been 9 years since my one and only raise, so after hassling CCM for last few months, she finally got on the ball with it. First, I had to have an audit, which was done on 10/01 and my score was 99.89, so she went ahead with the paper work. She told me a couple of days ago via IM that the paperwork had been submitted (however she failed to say when). Soooo, my question is....how long does it take for it to go through? ...
Hi Friends: My name is Suzanne and I am sending in my paperwork to enroll in the Andrew's School for Medical Coding and I am nervous. I am nervous because I do know I can do it, but what about my age of 57. I am too old for studying for this field? I am a medical transcriptionist and have been for 12 years and I am a fast thinker and learner and I know I can do it, but what about the Affordable Care Act and the jobs being outsourced like medical transcription. Can you ...
record. That's a new one on me. I work at home and no driving is involved, so why would they care? It's bad enough companies routinely check credit scores, now this. More and more it feels an invasion of privacy, and if I am using my own equipment in my own home, why would anyone care if my credit sucks or if I am a horrific drive? Oh well ... ...
Just a question for everyone. I accepted a position and was to hear by the end of this week from my manager about doing some training on Tuesday of next week and have not heard one word. I did receive foot pedal, etc. I put a call out to the recruiter who told me my manager was going to contact me, but of course at MQ you always have to leave a message. Is this the norm for new employees????? Any comments are appreciated. ...
Dear Fellow MT's,
Please advice me with some reputable information on how to get started with a company or job transcribing. I've worked in the Medical Field for 10 years now as a Unit Clerk, Telemetry Tech and then doing CNA work since I am a Medical Assistant. I've worked in the ICU, DOU, and Emergency Room for 4 years and then worked on a Cardiology Unit in Telemetry with heart rhythms for another 3 years. Before all this I've worked as a CSS for 3 doctors on t ...
part-timers for weekend work anymore? That's the way it was done for years, full-timers for M-F and part-timers for weekends, and it worked great because so many MTs are looking for extra weekend part-time work anyway. It seems to be mostly the bigger corporations, as usual, changing things for the worse here. Is it just the laziness of the HR & management people, not wanting to process part-timers? I suspect a lot of the very-experienced MTs are working at small ...

RE: Public Posted QA Editor Job Opening, Ann Arbor, MI, Posted 11/22/11
Hello,
I am emailing to express intent to apply for the Ann Arbor, MI, QA Editor position listed on MTStars, 11/22/2011.
I am currently employed full-time with SGS. I was hired into the position of QA-Editor, as a member of SGS' A-Team (the 'best of the best'), two years ago, to an hourly position at $16.50 per hour, 40 hours per week. As we ...
Regular full time with benefits or regular full time with limited benefits, what is the difference. Thank you! I am assuming MM benefits are horrible. What's best route to take when working full time. ...
as employees, yet the MTs are still on production instead of hourly, and the new hires never get any work to do. If they do get any work, it's not enough to live on. They want you to sit there until they have enough "extra" for you to do??
How is that right? There must be some kind of fraud or something legally that I don't know about that can take these companies to task for doing this to people. I'm tired of being treated this way, starving all the way t ...
I was laid off from a hospital in November and our boss gave us the name of your company, saying we would be hired on the spot. Why do these places continue to hire if there is no work?

I have never been through a more horrific new hire training process anywhere. This is such a mess and I'm more confused than ever. Already guarded about my decision with taking a job, I'm more than ever regretting this!!! I just want to quit and I haven't even gotten started yet. Will it get better if I can get through all this training? I haven't even gotten to my account yet!! ...
I've had a job offer with a transcription company..however, my problem is I'm required to have MS Word, version 2007 or 2010,,,no student/teacher/starter or trial editions....and I've gone to Best Buy, E Bay and Amazon. The cheapest I have found to dowload it is $300 !! That's not happening....so, is there a less expensive way ??? If not, I'm faced with turning down this job offer. HELP !! ...
Does anyone know of any companies hiring and are compatible with my windows 8 computer? I am seeking evenings from 5:30 through 11:30 p.m. and any hours on the weekends, but I cannot find any companies using windows 8.
Thank you everyone for any info.

Seriously? Is this typical? Love how recruitment hyped this place up. New PT hire, assigned one primary acct, finished the umpteen hours of training, released to TSM and on my first "live" day of work my account is OOW? Then receive a zip file of emails from TSM sent to the ENTIRE team which include prior employee resignation letters, employees being reprimanded, and the kicker - TSM acknowledges that the work volume on the account that I was assigned to wasn't ...
Just showed up on the Job Seeker's board. Does this mean that you're a temporary employee until they decide they like you, and then they give you a firm offer? Not a good deal, IMO.

I know this is an extreme long-shot, but I'm wondering if there are any good MT companies out there that hire M-F and pay a fair line rate (for the way things are today anyway). It doesn't matter to me whether I work employee or IC. I just left Nuance a couple months ago and am working general transcription on my own schedule right now, but it's way too strenuous for the pay rate and the work is sporadic. I've got to figure out my next move, but I hate to go back to working e ...
