Why don't the big companies want to hire - sm

part-timers for weekend work anymore?  That's the way it was done for years, full-timers for M-F and part-timers for weekends, and it worked great because so many MTs are looking for extra weekend part-time work anyway.  It seems to be mostly the bigger corporations, as usual, changing things for the worse here.  Is it just the laziness of the HR & management people, not wanting to process part-timers?  I suspect a lot of the very-experienced MTs are working at smaller companies that don't require weekends.

Well I am not sure everyone is looking for part-time weekend work. - sm

MTs look for part-time work for different reasons. You are assuming that MTs looking for part-time work are already working full-time and just want extra for the weekend. Some people do not have to work 2 jobs. Some people want to work part-time hours during the week. If I only had to work part-time, I would want to work during the week and not just the weekends simply because I want part-time status.

However, I have seen job ads for strictly weekend work, maybe you could scour the job seekers board here and see what you come up with. Good luck!

with the advent of VR a lot of the time there - isnt any work left for the

weekend, plus a lot of companies now require full-timers to work at least 1 weekend day as part of schedule, so less need for part-timers. I have been looking too, no-one even bothering to respond to applications......JMO

That's part of my point though, why are they making their - OP

full-timers work weekends these days in the first place? I've been in this business for years, and this is a newer phenomenon. They used to hire FTers for M-F and PTers for weekends, evenings, etc.

I think it's partly because everyone wanted M-F - and partly for payroll

I'm just guessing, but if FT people work weekends they don't have to hire as many people. We also used to be able to work whatever hours we wanted as long as we did our lines, but those days seem to be history too.

from what I've seen lately... - sm

a lot of MTSOs are requiring at least 1 weekend day a week for their employees. I guess that way nobody gets weekends off on a regular basis.

I've been doing this a long time and can do - sm

any type of report, any ESL, will learn any platform you want, am very dependable, and get very high marks on my audits. I've paid my dues and won't work weekends though. When I started out, I worked evenings and weekends, but I don't do it anymore. If you want me, then that's the deal. If not, then I have plenty of other offers. That's the way I feel about it now :)

Any Companies Hire M-F?
May 15, 2014

I know this is an extreme long-shot, but I'm wondering if there are any good MT companies out there that hire M-F and pay a fair line rate (for the way things are today anyway). It doesn't matter to me whether I work employee or IC. I just left Nuance a couple months ago and am working general transcription on my own schedule right now, but it's way too strenuous for the pay rate and the work is sporadic. I've got to figure out my next move, but I hate to go back to working e ...

Will Companies Hire A New MT From Careerstep

I've given VR a fair shot for close to a year now, but I still type much faster than I edit, so I've lost quite a bit of money since my account went to VR last year.  I know that VR is almost everywhere these days, but does anyone know of any decent companies that still have straight typing and are actually hiring right now?  I'm looking for acute care and I really don't care if it's IC or employee status at this point.  I just want to do regular transcrip ...
