Anybody mind a little production comparison? I mostly ASR and find - I have to do at least 40-50 reports to get 2000 li

Posted: Jul 13, 2011

and it is tough...I work doggedly to do this in the 8 hours I am allotted..not because it takes 8 hours, but because I have to do within 8 hours.  If I was given a block of time, like it has been suggested, I could easily get this done with 6 hours (on and off) of editing and/or the little bit of typing I get.

Do you mind comparing?  I like to know if I am in the average range of what I need to do.

By the way, in the old days, a full day for me was never more than 30 reports, usually averaged again to the magic 2000 lines I tried to hit (at 9 cpl), of course back then they were not character lines.  I made at least 180/day, and it was so nice.  Not to mention the great bonuses and incentives offered...I know I know..quit rehashing the olden times

Thanks!

Used to do 1600+ lines a day. Now with ASR - I bust my hump all 8 hours

to get to the mandatory 1200 lines for 60% pay.

seriously?? Nobody will chime in with their daily production? - Why all the secrecy?

I'm not just being nosy..really... I just am wondering if my experience is the same...am I average? am I doing more than most? I hear there are MTs out there routinely doing 3000 lines a day? I cannot fathom that!

I didn't understand your original - question

I type 2500-3000 lines if they are good dictators, and mostly speech recognition. I don't know how many jobs per day on average because the length of the job varies widely for me. I've got a ton of long-winded dictators. On a "bad day" I type as low as 1600 lines per day, and that's usually a day filled with my more difficult dictators and mostly transcribed reports.

To boost your production, type nonstop in 2-hour increments, not stopping for the phone or the doorbell, or to eat or go onto your favorite websites. Set a goal in your head for what you want to produce in that 2-hour time frame, and at the end of it check it. If you reached or exceeded that goal, reward yourself with something small. If not, try it again in the next 2 hours.

Hope that helps.

I can't even imagine doing 2500-3000 lines a day, even with your suggestions (although they are good and I will try them). You must have some steady, good accounts to dictate for.

I get so many different clients lately that are new that I have to look up the CP on that it really slows me down, not to mention on the ESL dictators or just bad dictators.

Thanks for the suggestions though :)
The longer you type on - a single account
[ In Reply To ..]
the faster you will get. Also, when I get those really difficult dictators I used to have a tendency to procrastinate finishing the report. When I get them, I tell myself that I'll finish the report in x amount of time (usually 2x the length of the report). It gives me something to shoot for and it makes me work faster.

Whatever you do, don't forget you aren't in competeition with anyone else...just yourself. If you did 1200 lines per day on average this week, next week shoot for 1300 average. You can do this!!

Thanks for the advice!

Do that and still don't get but 1200 doing clinics, - lots of letters, etc.

[ In Reply To ..]
Carbon copies, short reports. Only can do about 1200 now. Guess depends on the account.

Too many variables - to consider

It depends on the account, the dictators, VR or straight transcription. You really can't compare your line count with anyone else's, unless they work for the same hospital or clinic.

Anyone Else Find This Work Mind Numbing?
Sep 21, 2013

Does anyone else find themselves find this ASR to be mind-numbing?  I am so bored I cannot even concentrate on this garbage.  I am losing my mental capacity listening to this drivel all day every day.  I need to find a different career, 30 years of this is enough.  I love the odd, very rare, typing job that at least makes me think.  I literally want to call in sick every single shift so as to avoid ASR.  In addition, my blood boils when I think how little we make to ...

Comparison Of ASR With Webmedx And MQ.
Nov 15, 2009

Anyone else working for/or have worked for both who has noticed a difference in the quality of the ASR on one as compared to the other.  I may be crazy, but I think I make far fewer corrections to the ASR on MQ work.  Maybe just lucky, but I tend to be a mouse user  (I know - shame on me, but I am getting better) and I find my right hand lets me know when I have been using the mouse more. ...

Benefits Comparison
Apr 15, 2014

Can anyone, that now works at Nuance that used to work some place else, comment on the benefts (not pay, but more PTO accrual and amount, insurance, etc.) and what differences there are? I'm Going Out Of My Mind!
Feb 03, 2014

Seriously, I honestly do not know what is going on in the western region.  It wouldn't be so bad if there was just no work in my BOB and I could ask for more back up accounts from other BOB but the whole western region is out of work!  It was the same way over the weekend, isn't there usually work on the weekends?  I'm a single mom and can't afford to take it off with no pay - I REALLY NEED THIS INCOME so I'm stuck taking it out of my PTO but I won't ...

Who In Their Right Mind Will Be Sending Anything To QA?
Mar 19, 2010

Are they kidding?  Who is going to be sending ANYTHING to QA and take a chance of having their pay cut? Especially if it's the beginning of the work week! Yes, the clients will be getting blanks and I know they will be complaining.  The Q keeps sending us e-mails telling us to cut down on QA submissions. Are they kidding? No amount of "tips" will help if the dictator mumbles, sneezes, is ESL, etc. Don't they think we know all the "tricks" already? Besides that, we can't ...

An Idle Mind
Jul 27, 2010

Okay, I just started my first job with an MTSO, and now I'm looking at an empty queue. This is the same running-out-of-work scenario that has been following me for the past 6 years, everywhere I go. Three on-site jobs have gone down the tubes because the clinics/hospitals were "streamlining" with VR, and making their remaining employees more "efficient." Every time this happens, I promise myself: Will retrain, will find a new line of work. This is a dying field. Every time, somethin ...

I'm trying to use more keyboard commands and less mouse action, right?  So I needed to highlight and delete a line of text, and I tried Ctrl Alt Right Arrow.  Try it.  Go 'head.  For the timid among us, I can report that that particular key combo makes your screen skew sideways.  I tilted my head to look at it, thinking furiously about how to correct it without having to involve the techs, so I decided to try Ctrl Alt Left Arrow.  ...and tilted my head the ...

Just Too Mind Numbing!
Nov 15, 2013

Editing MM's ASR is so mind numbing! I get back 1-2 reports a week from a client audit with stupid errors, errors I don't make when I am straight typing! And you can certainly tell the horrendous number of errors that I am correcting by my line count. The better the output, the better my count. I so wanted to pop off an angry email back about how mind numbing this is! I can't wait to do it the day I can quit. Who cares about burning bridges, if need be, there are plenty of M ...
