Mind-numbing ESL tonight - Rant

I remember reading recently on here about monotonous female ESL dictators. Well I have one right now and it sounds like she has placed her lips directly onto the receiver to speak. This is so frustrating! I'm about to tear my hair out. My shift can't end soon enough tonight. I am so burnt out from this job, just scraping by isn't getting it with my family anymore. And yes, I have been looking elsewhere but there's just nothing. My son wants to take his girlfriend to the prom and I had to beg my ex for money to rent him a tux (my adoptive son is developmentally disabled and cannot find a job, either). My car is crap, my body is wrecked after spending 20 years in this chair. I hate that I chose transcription as a profession. What a lousy decision!

Wow!!!! I had that exact same day yesterday. I cannot stand ESL docs anymore. After 20 years of doing dictation, I would rather blow my eardrums out than do another ESL doc. My sympathies. Hope your shift ends soon.

I can relate and offer sympathy too. I remember listening to ESL docs as an employee at a large medical group and in the "good old days" the docs were more respectful and courteous mostly because they realized a female person was doing their work whom they were introduced to (in my case). When the ESLs dictate digitally to someone random, they simply don't care. They refuse to turn off their cell phone and answer it and speak to a family/friend in their native language for several minutes which ends up dumped into the report and needs to be deleted because the MTSOs love VR. Anything to disrespect the industry and the MT profession even further. I remember dealing with IT dept/helpdesk in India with a former US employer and they were cold people 24/7. It's their way, really. My sympathies to you.

Honey, I feel your pain. Last night I was stuck in India and China all night long. I feel that is all we have to transcribe anymore. It is so aggravating. I would just love to have a night with all doctors who do not have an accent. The "monotone" drives me crazy too. I have been doing this for 36 years and I have never seen thsi many ESLs before. It is getting worse and worse. I was just recently changed from CCM to another and the new CCM well I HATE the place I am working now. SO I DO FEEL YOUR PAIN.

Editing MM's ASR is so mind numbing! I get back 1-2 reports a week from a client audit with stupid errors, errors I don't make when I am straight typing! Does anyone else find themselves find this ASR to be mind-numbing? I am so bored I cannot even concentrate on this garbage. I am losing my mental capacity listening to this drivel all day every day. I need to find a different career, 30 years of this is enough. I love the odd, very rare, typing job that at least makes me think. And they wonder why my count is not up to par??!! I told my QAM that my production depends almost entirely on the quality of the ASR (of which there is none!). I am also so sick of the fact ASR will not output "the patient" and will only output patient. And, I know if I don't add in every single little "the" or "a", I will be dinged and shredded. Hi Everyone:) Is anyone else having trouble getting work tonight? I am on 3 accounts, and all I have gotten since this afternoon is 3 jobs. My main account has no work and my 2 secondary accounts have no work, and they told me that they give first pick of the jobs to the girls who work primarily on my 2 secondary accounts. If you can't hear parts of the dictation, leave a QA marker. It looks really bad when the client is on 100% for ILPs and all you did was copy and paste an old progress note with a few changes to the impression and plan. Seriously?! Did you listen to any of the dictation? Cuz it didn't come close to matching up. Sure, the dictator was difficult and hard to hear, but I could hear enough to know that what the ILP typed didn't even come close to what was said, ...
