My company was honest and upfront when we started using ChartNet. They told us that once you enter a report for VR, the time clock does not actually start for 60 seconds. Soooo.... this means if I did 30 reports, I add 30 minutes on my time sheet, right? Nothing was said about this for straight typing on ChartNet. We do both. Does anyone know if the time works the same on VR and straight typing for ChartNet? I have tried researching it, but I can't find anything about this very specific question.
I would really like to know this because if so, the actual time clock can cheat us an hour a day or more, which should be added to our time sheet. You could actually be working OT and not know it because it does not show up in the system. Clever, huh? I also do not feel when one counts the lph, that it is very accurate either. I think perhaps they want you to believe you are doing better on VR than you area. But, do I add the number of reports typed to my time sheet also? Does anyone know? Are they doing this with all platforms now?

[ In Reply To ..]There is no delay at all. There is no time clock in Chartnet or in M*Modal. Line and character counts, yes, but no time clock. Most companies use an external time clock for tracking hours worked.

[ In Reply To ..]They have an external clock (Schedule Source) and the MModal (DocQscribe) program has a clock, the times have to match within a certain percentage (to make sure you are not working off the clock and to make sure you are working when you are scheduled).
If there is a discrepancy in the times between DocQscribe internal clock and the Schedule Source clock, you can receive Performance Management, be written up, and fired.

I've been on ChartNet for years now, with straight transcription only ... no VR. My MTSO uses an external webclock, but ChartNet is simultaneously clocking time while WITHIN a report (NOT while filling out the Report Data -- demographics -- screen). This is not secretive, BTW...it's just one of many pieces of data being compiled by ChartNet. This means that there is some discrepancy between the 2 clocks (webclock shows more hours than ChartNet).
Recently my company announced that the accumulation of PTO would be based on ChartNet hours, not webclock hours. This is a significant loss for the MT, as the discrepancy between the two can add up quickly. Example: Webclock may show 40 hours worked in a week (while ChartNet says 35), or 160 hours worked in a month (ChartNet says 140). At this time, my employer bases OT on webclock hours, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that changed to ChartNet hours in the future.
The only good thing about ChartNet's tracking time WITHIN a report is that, while you research terms or look up archived reports, the internal clock is still ticking. Future upgrades may cause the clock to stop if your hands aren't active on the keyboard.
You do realize there are different ChartNet versions, right? - sm

The requirement for ICs to use a time clock is apparently to protect the service from being sued for unpaid labor, right? It is my understanding from an attorney that if we are required to sit and wait for the work that is considered time worked. Keystrokes wants us to keep track of ONLY the time spent typing, any time spent NOT typing is NOT considered as time working according to them. You would have to rack up a lot of time just typing to get in those 40 hours in order to get paid overtime. The truth is KS is being sued for not paying overtime. KS does not have time records and that is why it is being implemented now. I myself know overtime pay was not offered for anyone taking extra hours on my account. I also have e-mails to that effect. Used to work for Transcend and loved that you input your own time card. You could put down 8 hours even if it took you 10 to make your lines/$.
