Does anyone here get paid through Paypal? If so, how does that work? Do you declare youself a merchant? How much do they charge for their services?

[ In Reply To ..]I do not get paid through PayPal, but I do have an account with them. If it is the same as when someone pays for a service, you do not have to become a merchant. All you need to do is open an account. They only charge the person who sends the payment; not the person who receives the payment (when it is not an auction).
The problem is if you need the cash right away. If you do not already have an established PayPal account there are some restrictions on getting your money out quickly.
If someone sends you money, you can:
1. Use your PayPal account to pay for things (it appears that more and more companies are accepting PayPal that used to only accept credit or debit cards).
2. You can request a PayPal debit card, which if I remember correctly, you have to be a member for 90 days or something like that before they will issue you the debit card. Then, you can withdraw your money from an ATM, but there are maximum daily withdrawal limits and, of course, like any ATM transaction, there are those pesky ATM use fees for each withdrawal.
3. You can request the money be transferred to your checking account. That can take up to 5 business days before you have access to the cash.
So, unless you already have an established PayPal account, if you go the route of being paid using it, be sure to add a week to whatever pay date they give you for you to actually have access to any cash.

You don't need to sign up for a merchant account or anything like that, if you already have an account with them then the person paying you just sends the money to your existing PayPal email address and it's yours. You can actually sign up for a PayPal debit card so you have quicker access to the funds in your account, but be careful because they are very tricky with the debit card. I'm disputing about 15 transactions right now from my PayPal debit card. Anyway, they do charge a small fee, which is a percentage of what you receive, but you'll have to check the website to see what that percentage is. Hope this helps!

[ In Reply To ..]I can get paid by check too, so I do have a choice, just check takes longer, and most of the time I don't have that luxury of waiting, though I could probably do it now as we bulked up our checking account so now I could. I really do hate loosing the percentage they take. I forget what kind of account I have but periodically I sell stuff on ebay so I know I don't have the "free" one they offer, if they even offer that anymore, that was years ago. You'd have to see what PP offers nowadays.

If the payer did I guarantee no one would ever use it, or at least not like it is used now. I need to see about changing mine so I don't lose that 3 percent any more, stinks. I do have a PayPal debit card too but do not use it too much, never had any problems with it though. They do charge fees for withdrawing cash though. Generally I just transfer my money to one of my checking accounts, one takes about 2 days to get there, the other is 2-4 days, two different banks, no clue why the one takes longer though.

I've been working with my company for almost a year now and i'm wondering if I should start looking around at other compaines. I graduated from M-Tec last summer and got a job about a month later, they started me at 0.055 cpl, then in December bumped me up to 0.06 cpl. It will show the multiplier etc. Doesnt matter what the final line count is. That may not be what you actually did anyway.
