I've been working with my company for almost a year now and i'm wondering if I should start looking around at other compaines. I graduated from M-Tec last summer and got a job about a month later, they started me at 0.055 cpl, then in December bumped me up to 0.06 cpl. Since then I have been getting paid the same, while working a lot more. I just want to know if this is good and I should just stick with it, or look somewhere else. Any advice is appreciated!
Generally with the MTSOs you will have a team leader or an organizational point of contact. Who do you get the e mails from? That's who I'd address my compensation questions to. I've taken one of your sentences and adjusted it a hair and it might give you an idea as to how to phrase your request.
I get emails almost every day saying which work types need to be caught up and I have been switching over and doing whatever they need help with on an emergent basis.
I would then add something along the lines of "I think that in the last year I have proven to be a consistent producer and a team player and would like to be considered for an increase in my line rate."
If this doesn't produce any results, then work on your resume. Really play up the fact that you can do and have done many different work types. It makes a huge difference. Even if you only have a year or so of experience, if that experience is all Basic 4/acute care, that can be the tipping point if the recruiter has a good feel about your resume in general. There are some companies out there that will hire newbies and yes, they do sometimes pay less, but if you keep at it and keep looking (if this company doesn't give you a raise) you might get lucky and find that one that likes your resume and likes your experience and is willing to give you a shot at a penny or more per line.
Good luck. I hope it works out for you.
