I cherry pick and I don't feel bad! - CherryPicker

Here's the deal, I'm not saying I cherry pick every minute of my shift, but if I have done one after the other report of difficult dictators, then I will go in and assign myself 2 or 3 jobs to give myself a break. I work directly for a hospital and I know that I am absolutely not the only one who does this.
I also cherry pick if the end of my shift is coming up and I find that my lines need a little boost. I will assign myself some easy dictators to boost up my lines. What is wrong with that? I wouldn't have a problem if anyone else on my shift did the same thing (which they do). So what is the big deal anyway? I know that someone ends up having to do the hard ones eventually, but I take my share. So long as you take your fair share of crap, then I don't see anything wrong with cherry picking when you need to or need a break.
The MTSOs and supervisors have made MT a numbers game. They practically force cherry picking. There are some days when I wouldn't make minimum if I did cheat just a little bit, but I don't look at cherry picking as cheating. It is a necessary tool. So all the self-righteous MTs out there who claim to take whatever comes to them, whatever! You can lie to yourselves, but you can't lie to me. I've been in this business too long and I know that everybody pads their lines from time to time.
How many times have you gotten a rotten job and just logged off the system for 15 minutes so it gets pooled to someone else? That's a form of cherry picking too!

I have never cherry picked by skipping over, etc., but I will say that at times, because I usually never skip and the worst slurrers, the most hard-core ESLs, etc., I will do the old "log off a bit" toward the end of a long, hard, frustating day and wait to see how the work queue cleans out....and sometimes I just HAVE to get those wretched reports done myself. But I do speak up about it to my bosses when I see unabashed abuse, but it usually does not get me anywhere!! Okay, glad we vented, friend!

The account we are all basically on is horrible. Newbies used to quit right and left when assigned this account. I'm just holding out a few more months and then I'm done. I'm looking at a state job which may pay less but once I've worked my 8 hours, I'm finished. Plus the benefits are a lot better than the crap we get now.

Well, there are some people who don't do the hard ones at all and just snatch all the good ones as soon as they come in. I would talk to the supervisor. The owner where I work said if anyone cherrypicks they are in trouble. I don't think it is right. If you feel you have to do it or else get stuck with all the bad ones then you need to talk to supervision and tell them they need to do something because the only way you can get a decent line count is to cherrypick some. You shouldn't have to do that. There have been times when I got an awful job and I stuck it out and done it. I didn't want to but you can't pick and choose what you want to do. As an MT, it is your job to do the good with the bad.

That's something we will get in trouble for. But since my company is not doing very well, and I don't know how much longer they can stay open, it's all about how much money I can make. I have no loyalty to the place anymore. Today, our system has been down since 3:30. It's the last day of the pay period. Tough crap. If you need to make base yet, you have until midnight. I'm so over this.

[ In Reply To ..]At Trancend no one has the opportunity to assign themselves jobs - only the TLs. They can assign themselves jobs as well as their MTs. Sometimes that is a good concept, but it is not good if the TL is grabbing all the gravy in order to get their production in, as they also have admin duties to perform as part of their job requirements. The MTs at this company get what they get.
As an employee - no you shouldn't be allowed to assign jobs. - but as an IC - most certainly!

It is quite frightening to me how many MTs think they are bosses or management that they can make these blanket statements about their coworkers when they have no clue. All you see is a job pool, yet you claim to know the entire workings of the entire industry. Just whatever... Geesh, you people will argue over the most trivial things.
I do not care if your paycheck is affected by it and I do not care if you think you always do the hard jobs. If you think you are being cheated, then I strongly suggest you join the cherry pickers! LOL

After browsing around in FIESA, I found what looks to be an instruction manual for the people who audit us and after looking at it, it sure does look like they can pick and choose which reports to audit, rather than randomly. I have also had the worst dictators audited more than the good ones. Of course it's easier to find a mistake that way and easier to keep our pay down! I work at Transcend and got on this evening to work and had 3 reports staring at me first in my q that were from a hard dictator and were STATs that had been OUT OF TAT since 10-11 AM this morning. I have a question. On my account I type a few notes a week, rest is all VR. So, when I see typed notes in my que, I may not take lunch or something so I can hurry up and get that note.
