Oh, I wish I were a Transcend team lead so I could cherry pick - again
Posted: May 15, 2011
my work and then I would have no problems getting my lines every pay period. What pieces of trash did they select to put in quasi-management positions?
I'm lucky. I have a great TL... - mtmom

It's my ROM that sucks. Gotta love Transcend.

I think this particular ROM is the only one as bad as she is. I've had other people on here describe her to a T, so I'm sure we probably have the same one. Sorry for you too. At least we have nice leads.
Cherry picking? - sm

Excuse me... You openly admit you had cherry picked before and would like to do it again? Did I misunderstand? Is that something leads are allowed to do with Transcend?
You misunderstood. The team leads at Transcend are notorious for cherry picking - again
[ In Reply To ..]
and many admit freely they do it because that is part of their "benefit" for being a TL. Between that and them assigning their friends the good jobs, it is very hard to make a line count when you have 5 B mode (straight typing jobs) with Dr. notalkenglish in a row and you know it is going to take half your shift to do them for a piddly 8 cents a line, for which I might make $30.00.

Wow, that sucks. I had been in the process of hiring on there and am now having second thoughts. I guess that probably happens everywhere though. I have heard QA can get in there and pull out jobs using normal since they are paid by the hour and they don't want MTs to get the "free lines". Unbelievable if management turns a blind eye to it though.
you are right, and TLs can do the same thing and do it daily. - again

it does suck and no one does anything about it. An MLS is considered lower class than a worm in this company.

Transcend is creating a dog-eat-dog atmosphere. TLs get paid $700 extra a month and must meet line goals or do not get the extra money. So they cherry pick and don't think about taking money out of our pockets, which are very slim pickins anyway. They choose to do the wrong thing. It was so extreme in my case that they took my primary account because it was a good account, without asking, without even telling, just giving me bad accts and THEN taking the best dictators on those accts and giving me the worst.
The leads are basically running Transcend and - ex-transcender for good

destroying it at the same time. If Transcend did away with lead positions, they would actually have a decent company.
The team leads did the same thing to me. n/m - ex-transcender for good

This is not new really. I worked for the (old style) Medquist in the 1990s, and I had a supervisor who cheerfully admitted that she was a cherry picker since she also had to babysit a bunch of unhappy MTs! Transcend is turning out to be Medquist all over again. Same song, different label.

They help with our radiology - they have accused ME of cherry picking... Of course my director was right on the phone and told them we were offended that they would accuse her employees of something that is not done at our hospital
Wow, they had the gall to accuse a client's in-house employee of cherry-picking?! - Just My 4 Cents
Even after all of their shenanigans and unprofessionalism.
Stunned.

Is it correct that they expect VR editors to average 2000 lines a day? If so... - Just My 4 Cents
[ In Reply To ..]
....at 4 cpl that's only $80 a day. I routinely did 2000 a day straight typing at 10 cpl before going part-time and pre-buyout. That would have been a hell of a pay cut going to VR had I stayed on - and I sure haven't heard of anyone doing 5000 lines a day VR.
to be full time you have to do $900 a pay period, so that - yup
[ In Reply To ..]
is about 2000 a day. You will see some notes on here that that is easy to do, but it is only thought to be easy by a few of the bosses who have never tried to do it.
Plan for and act on it now. You yourself said "when," not "if"... - Just My 4 Cents

...don't wait for the hammer to drop. No harm in putting your feelers out now.
I wouldn't say TLs are "pieces of trash"...I would say some are a petty, sniping... - Just My 4 Cents

...sarcastic bunch, having dealt with a few after being assigned to different accounts. My favorite was when I emailed a TL with a request, she sat in it for several days, then emailed me out of the blue after I decided not to pursue the issue saying "This got buried in my inbox, didn't see it, I'll pass it on to (insert ROM)...sorry! :-)" My prior dealings in communicating with this TL make it very unlikely that my email was missed rather than ignored. Oh, and I never did hear from the ROM (whose reputation precedes her - believe me, I didn't expect to).
I'd hate to be a recruiter for them right about now.
I don't work for Transcend, but my account supervisor takes the easiest doctor off - our board every day, sm
[ In Reply To ..]
and then gives us the crap nobody else got finished to type for the day. It's crazy. We can have 100 jobs on our board for the day, they talk off half and then gives us something we don't type on a regular basis. I sure hope she enjoys taking money out of the pockets of those who are actually working by the line instead of being paid by the hour and have children to feed.

Where is your proof of this? Sounds more like a personal opinion to me.
have never been treated so badly at any company. My team lead sends out the nastiest e-mails I have ever received in my life. When I talked to my ROM (who is no longer there), she said I just needed to realize that this person had a very strong military background and that is "just how she is". I have been around a lot of military and most of them were taught to be tactful and at least half way nice. You never know what is going to set this one off or how she will react t ...
for some help yesterday and got nothing but garbled answers. I asked how to do something and got part of an answer but then told she did not remember how to do the rest of the steps. I can understand not knowing how to do something, but at least refer me to someone who does know how. This person was definitely not nice and thought it was very funny that I was having so much trouble with the system. The attitude was the worst I have ever encountered. Thes ...
Here's the deal, I'm not saying I cherry pick every minute of my shift, but if I have done one after the other report of difficult dictators, then I will go in and assign myself 2 or 3 jobs to give myself a break. I work directly for a hospital and I know that I am absolutely not the only one who does this.
I also cherry pick if the end of my shift is coming up and I find that my lines need a little boost. I will assign myself some easy dictators to boost up my lines ...
Just curious about this because it seemed when I worked my last shift, I had all good doctors for a change. Some of them I'd never typed before. So I got to wondering if people can actually cherry pick on eScription. I was under the impression that was one of the benefits of that software, difficult to do that. We all work the same bad shift, let's share the junk reports, please! ...
Just read the MQ Central news about the pilot program for a new position called Region Team Lead (RTL).
I'm already confused enough, I don't need a new acronym.
They said the CTL would now be doing 100% QA and transcription.
It didn't really specify who will be doing PTO requests, etc. (unless I overlooked it)
I'm glad I already requested Christmas off and it was granted! Thanks CTL! I'll miss you! ...
it's just not working out for me there. I would rather have an IC position. I have an interview with another company. If I get it good, if not I will go substitute teach at the school...would prob make more money.
This fall I will be going back to college to get a BS in biology. I will be out of this disappointing career as soon as I can. What a waste of 2 years of my time to study medical transcription and the last 4 years trying to make money doing it. ...
Does anybody else get this impression? Or am I misunderstanding what this position is all about? All I know is, I have a weird sense of deja vu about it, like I've heard about this job before but with a different title. ...
Cherry pickin could be found out with a simple run of the software, so leads do not do this. We want to do this, but we dont. There are times we'd sure like to give the snails a bunch of ickies based on their never ending complaints and irregularity. ...
I'm beyond thrilled! I have a good lead on a non-MT job. I have been promised multiple things and they have never happened. No raise in many years. Someone tell me again, what are the benefits of being an IC when you have to do the work of so many other people PLUS transcribe? It's ridiculous. Years ago, when I didn't have to do the work of others plus mine, I made SO much more money. ...
I had an ignore to my IM request by a QA lead team member. ?? Why would someone do that? Shouldn't I be able to communicate with this person? I'm confused. ...
An S8 lead was introduced in the lateral fluoroscopic view, and AP view was used to drive it to the mid T6 level. The lead was in the midline and then an s/l Octrad lead was placed just left to that one described above. ...
Hi fellow MTs.
Does anyone know anything about AssistMed based out of California or has anyone worked for them?
I am curious about their transcriptionists and also lead transcriptionist position. If anybody has an experience with this company, I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

I have worked exclusively from a home office for 8 years as an MT. I've worked with many different platforms, straight transcription, editing, VR, training new MTs in on accounts, etc. A hospital in our area has a listing posted for Transcription Lead (in house). I do not usually do ORs and am baffled. I am covering for another MT. I am not sure how to type this "running loop O PDS suture".
As usual, thanks for all you gracious help! ...
Two questions. Does anyone else have the little screen that pops up and says Editscript has been inactive for 1 hour, will automatically shut down in 5 minutes and then counts down? IT COMES ON WHILE I AM WORKING! I have NEVER let my work sit for an hour, NEVER!
Secondly,I had an appointment last week so missed an hour and missed a few minutes here and there enough to be over 2 hours short on my normal working hours. First I received an email (ON MY DAY OFF SO I DID NOT SEE IT) that I must m ...
After browsing around in FIESA, I found what looks to be an instruction manual for the people who audit us and after looking at it, it sure does look like they can pick and choose which reports to audit, rather than randomly. I have also had the worst dictators audited more than the good ones. Of course it's easier to find a mistake that way and easier to keep our pay down! Remember 7 cpl is really equal to only 3.5 cpl if most of your jobs are VR. ...
