Hi. I took it online through the company I work for as a home MT. It was not too bad. I think I scored around 95% on it.
and how much did they charge you to take it? - alias

just wondering.
I also take it through my company once a year, - no charge. NM

my company is charging only the ICs 15.00 to take the certification test for HIPAA/HITECH test. I pretty much refuse to give them the benefit of my hard earned pay for something I could probably get elsewhere for lesser or no money at all.
Sounds like just another MT scam, to me! - nm - Meerkat

as I stated, the 15.00 charge is only for the ICs. The employees do not have to pay anything...scam!
HIPAA Certificate - Not a Scam - CJR
[ In Reply To ..]
The HIPAA class and certification is definitely not a scam. It is a new class, which was started this year, 2011. It is extremely important for MT's to take this course. Starting this year there are fines and prison sentences for MT's that breach confidentiality even if you do not know you are doing it. Do not count on the company you work for to protect you.
I did not pay for the class and actually was paid $100.00 by my company once I passed the final examination and became certified.
Please don't misunderstand me... - alias

I did not mean that the HIPAA class was a scam...just that the company I work for who was "charging me for it" was a scam. I know the course is legit and that I have to take it...I just do not want to have to pay 15.00 for it. that's all.
Scam? - MT

If you are an IC then they can require that you have it, as part of the agreement to subcontract with them, but they do not pay for it. However, if you are an employee and it's a company requirement then yeah, they have to pay for the employee. That's not a scam at all.

I Thought About Getting A Nail Technician Certificate. Jan 29, 2013But the cost is around $5,000, the time is short only 6 months, but with working full time I would have no life with the classes being 4 hours every evening and 7 hours on Saturday. Okay, so if I commit myself to all of that, will I even be able to find a place to work? Most of the nail salons these days are chock full of Vietnamese workers. I rarely see salons with American nail technicians anymore. What I would love to do is open my own salon, but where would I get the funds to do someth ...

HITECH/HIPPA Nov 14, 2009A few days ago the MTSO I work for informed us that it was even more important for us to be sure that the patient information in the demographics be accurate. They went on to say that if an error was made, the patient would now be informed of this.
While I totally agree that at all times patient information, inculding DOB, MR number and other very important data be perfect every time, I can't help but wonder that if patients will be informed when this information is in error, w ...

Question About HIPPA And Medical Records Apr 15, 2011My husband's father had a brain tumor many years ago (back when I first started dating him) and had surgery. Unfortunately, the surgeon never stopped the bleeding completely before closing him up and waited too long to take him back to the OR, so he remained in a coma for numerous months until he passed away. My husband's mother many years later also passed away. My husband is starting to have periods of extreme forgetfullness and completely not remembering something ...

"State Certified" Birth Certificate Apr 25, 2015I took some pre-employment documents to a notary yesterday. The birth certificate, issued by the hospital where I was born 62 years ago, I was told would not do for ID because it was not "state certified". In order to get a state certified birth certificate, you have to have the notary certify they have seen my birth certificate, then the state issues one they call "certified". This makes absolutely no sense to me and only delays employment. Anyone else had this experienc ...
