For anyone that works on EMRs or Epic, do you still continue - Curious MT

to work in your regular platform such as DQS or do you have to download an entirely new system to work in a hospital EMR. My hospital is on DQS and going to EMR or Epic so I am not sure if that means all my short cuts etc are gone or we continue somehow to use both systems. I doubt you can use short cuts in EMR but again I have no idea and I dont think you can move your short cuts out of DQS to another system and again I dont know. Seems like I dont know much this morning at all.

I dont think you will notice a change. Had job where Dr. said info - wasnt available in Epic yet (hee, hee)SM

so I am thnking that acct is already epic and it is done the same as everyhing else in DQS.

Job I have had forever, when they started with EMR, the - only thing different we had to do SM

was put a job marker at the top of document so it could be inserted into EMR.

The biggest change for us is that the entire department was fired except for 6 people. - EPIC killed us

Be prepared to do something else. Even if you keep your job, the days of being able to get another decent job are gone.

Epic killed us too. Our entire department was told today that September 30 would be our last day. We have work to do but it's going where it can be done cheaper (starts with the letter "I").

DQS completely and the hospital will drop MQ. Just curious about that. It seems Epic is the way to go and was not sure if that can be interspersed with DQS or eliminate MQ altogether with DQS. ...

I've been an MT for over 20 years. Have had my own clients in Rhematology for the past 12 years, been working at home for 15 years. Clients have switched to point-and-click and VR except for one who is Lebanese and hates the point-and-click and can't do VR. The hospital I work for changed over the Editscript last year. Changeover went relatively smoothly, and we still had plenty of work to keep all the transcriptionists busy (after we stopped outsourcing the overflow we used to have). Recently, the hospital switched to Epic electronic medical record system, and within a week the transcription workload plumeted to probably 40% of our former workload --not enough to keep our transcription staff busy. It seems the doctors/nurses/etc ...
