Is Anyone happy at MQ, Wow. Just curious - Tired

Been an MT for 12 or so years and I realize what everyone is going through. Yes line counts are bad, money is bad, but I think every company is the same. I have been through so many myself. But we all have a job and that is good right now. I just want to hear something good about MQ is there anything anyone can tell me.

Something good about MQ? So far the paychecks have never bounced.

No, not every company is the same as MQ. I can make more money at Micky-Dees or WalMart than I can make at MQ. BTW -applying there this week as the holiday season is near.

This is sad for a profession that is so important for patient care and legal documentation of medical records.

My pay is about half what it was 6 months ago, so no, I'm not - very thrilled.

up until about 9 or 10 months ago I loved my job. Now I make less than 1/4 what I made before, have been bounced around to several different accounts, can't get any information about anything from anyone, and soon as I have this baby I will be looking for another job. Happy? Ha ha ha. Noooo. Not anymore. Not by a long shot. My employers always expect me to be honest and have integrity, yet they cannot or will not grant me the same courtesy in return. Been with MQ for many years. It's sad. I'd probably make more on unemployment. Walmart would be a better bet at this point but I just can't support or work for a company that supports offshoring.

I was working for a smaller company that lost its two biggest hospital accounts to the Indian component of Spheris. They paid me slighly less per line for straight transcription (they didn't do voice rec), yet I made more than double what I am making at MQ doing MT, ME, MME. There was minimal ESL, minimal difficult dictation. At MQ, minimum wage every paycheck since I started and 95% ESL and difficult dictators.
Would you be "happy" in this situation ?
Yes, I'm glad to have a job and a paycheck at all. But "happy" ?

I think the only reason anyone works here at all is their pre-Cbay reptutation.

The good ole days are not coming back, but hope springs eternal. I doubt they will have a US base other than sales department past the first of the year.

In the meantime, they have driven down the average pay of every employee for three quarters straight. That is all they needed to do before they laid everybody off and paid those unemployment insurance claims at half of what they would have had to pay before.

All they had to get you to do was hang on just a little bit longer, not for things to improve, but so they would have to pay less UI.

I believe in Karma. Ironically, the Indians are huge believers in Karma too.

I'm also a believer in instant Karma. We had these snooty neighbors (this used to be the "rich" section of town years ago, and though it's still a nice section, they've built bigger and better houses elsewhere). Anyway, they'd have their fellow snooty country club friends over all the time. Not once did either the husband or wife ask if their friends could park all over our front yard. I would have happily let them but they just assumed they could tear up our lawn, so I let it anger me. One day I came home from work, saw cars all over our front lawn and proceeded to get out our push mower. I mowed as close as I could to their expensive cars, blowing grass all over them. That lasted about 3 minutes until I stepped into a hole in the lawn that I had never seen in the years we've lived year. I fell, the lawn mower shut off and I yelped in pain. I had only twisted it but do you see my point about instant Karma? I was being a s**t and because of that, I hurt my ankle. I still cannot find that hole to this day. :-) Heh - After that, I let my 2 boy dogs (and my female who hikes her leg) pee on their tires on occasion. Admittedly, I can still be a s**t.

Go let your dogs do their thing. The cars are on your dogs' property so let 'em pee. You're not guilty in that department, only of being taken advantage of by your opportunist neighbors. That's understandable, though, as we are all guilty of being taken advantage of by the corporate MQ opportunists.

I looked at my year to date income on today's pay stub. Almost 18K (full time). A couple years ago it was 45K. I might break 20K this year - what I was making probably 25 years ago.

Don't forget, when you get old and apply for Social Security, the amount you get is based on your highest year's earning.

MQ has us by the short hairs. They know they can abuse us as much as they want, and since jobs are few and far between, we'll keep taking the abuse.

I work for them as well. Right now I am in kind of a funk with MQ. I get that way from time to time. I am really frustrated right now because I am typing mainly ASR and not making the money I had hoped to. But, as you said, we have jobs and should be thankful I suppose. But, you wanted to hear something good. Well, I have a nice CCM. She's kinda ditzy sometimes and slow to return emails but she's nice overall. If I think of something else I'll let you know.

Then I spend my money on things that make me happy. If I don't get enough from MQ to buy happiness, I'm moving on.

Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" In this day and age, all I see is "sad" MTs and, in my opinion, if "Happy Transcriptions" is still happy, they can only be messing even more with us poor "sad" MTs. All I can say is I am so "happy" I am so close to being on my way out of MT! ...

internet search engine. I have found that Google is causing serious slow down of the computer since upgrading to 6.1 and wondering if this could be the culprit of the problems with 6.1 as when I switched from Google to other search engines I am not having the slow DQS 6.1 problem. Support suggested this when they tried to fix the problems I was having. I want to know what others have found to be a good search engine for MT other than Google. With FTR still in play and all the other requirements made of us highly-paid MTs, when ASR 4 cpl goes into effect in February, does that mean 3 cpl would still be deducted if our "performance" had to be improved? Would that mean 1 cpl or, as an example, if an MT produced 1000 ASR lines in one day, would that MT make $10 for a day's work? TIA ...

As I just got of a dictation with variable volumes and of course the eventual hang up with the loud dial tone, seems to me we could make a real good case for a worker's comp hearing loss problem. Not so much to collect now but to make an argument that they need to fix the volume on the system and maybe actually train the doctors to dictate correctly or be liable for lawsuits before we all go deaf. Too late for me, the ringing is staggering at this point. Thoughts anyone ...

Our hospital just went with M*Modal. We are getting laid off in a couple of months. I am curious to know the answer to this question. We have three doctors that stand out way ahead of the rest of our doctors with their HORRIBLE dictation. I MEAN HORRIBLE! I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years and on my current account for almost 2. Recently a LOT of changes have happened at the acct. manager level, and everybody is looking to me for help getting things under control and have also started asking me to do QA. However, I still get paid to type by the line and a flat rate per report QA'ed. I have a few questions about VR. Does the dictation translated by VR need limits on how fast the dictation is spoken, or can the audio be slowed down to accomodate? On what sort of dictation will VR not work? If you use VR presently, do you feel you could transcribe and proof faster uisng straight transcription instead?
