I have that feeling too. My e-mails go unanswered. I've lost accounts and have not been given a reason. I truly don't understand any of this. I've worked there a long time and have never been unhappy until the past couple of months.

What kind of nasty e-mail. The only reason I ask is because I didn't get an nasty email, and I'm wondering if I'm just not getting all their emails or if they are picking and choosing who they are sending stuff too. This is like the 3rd or 4th time someone mentioned emails about overstaffing, begging for help, nasty emails that I havent gotten. Makes me go hmmmmmm.

I had this happen to me with another company about a year ago before coming to OTI. I was making a higher than average line rate, never had any complaints about my work, then all of a sudden I was put on probation because all of a sudden they had a problem with my work. I documented everything for Worker's Comp. but too hard to fight it. I felt as though they were pushing me out to bring in workers who would take a lot less money than I was getting. Working 2 jobs now and feel like a ping-pong ball between the 2 sometimes, one week one has work and the other doesn't and vice-versa, sometimes neither one does. I used to love what this job/industry is about, but feeling more and more like it's not going to be around much longer if things don't change soon. We can't afford to be doing this for minimum wage. I also am getting a "jerky/pet food business" started at home on the side to supplement my income if anyone is interested in that, let me know.

I get the same feeling. I too have been cut off from 2 of my accounts. I only have one left and it is with me manning my computer 12-15 hours a day to try and get a dictation. I'm with the other person who says that maybe they are trying to let the higher paid people quit so they can get people for a lot less money.

The last company I was with that sold out to the Squid was much like OTI, however a bit better with communication. Then all of a sudden we had QA% and accuracy stats being thrown at us. Its the buyout company who requires that info. They then cut every employee across the board down from 9 cpl to 7 cpl as that is what the Squid would pay.

So I would say if they were merging or selling, we'd be hammered more on QA% and accuracy, rather than being given samples saying "the patient is in aspirin" LOL

regarding patient name/number on the T-account, they would be removed, whether it was the first time they made that mistake or not. That seems rather "hammering." As for mistakes in samples, I have seen that in pretty much every company I have been with.

I was looking for work about 6 months ago and had worked for OTI about 8 years ago when it was a great job. I applied for them again, as they were hiring, but didn't hear back. A month or two later they again sent out posts for "now hiring" and again I was not acknowledged. I'd been a good worker for them! I was hurt. I cried (a little, but it just made me feel bad about myself).

Now these emails and I realize it was a good thing I didn't get hired back on! NOBODY needs that emotional drama with a job.

What really spooks me lately is that my company (not OTI) has been trying to get rid of a bunch of us for 2 years. A few of us diehards are still left. Now, all of a sudden, it's quiet. TOO quiet. Few to no emails. No phone calls. No updates on account specifications. Normally, I would consider those all to be a good thing - a little peace and quiet, finally! But I know the jokers that run my company don't operate that way. The silence bodes more of their evil is headed our way.

internet search engine. I have found that Google is causing serious slow down of the computer since upgrading to 6.1 and wondering if this could be the culprit of the problems with 6.1 as when I switched from Google to other search engines I am not having the slow DQS 6.1 problem. Support suggested this when they tried to fix the problems I was having. I want to know what others have found to be a good search engine for MT other than Google. With FTR still in play and all the other requirements made of us highly-paid MTs, when ASR 4 cpl goes into effect in February, does that mean 3 cpl would still be deducted if our "performance" had to be improved? Would that mean 1 cpl or, as an example, if an MT produced 1000 ASR lines in one day, would that MT make $10 for a day's work? TIA ...

As I just got of a dictation with variable volumes and of course the eventual hang up with the loud dial tone, seems to me we could make a real good case for a worker's comp hearing loss problem. Not so much to collect now but to make an argument that they need to fix the volume on the system and maybe actually train the doctors to dictate correctly or be liable for lawsuits before we all go deaf. Too late for me, the ringing is staggering at this point. Thoughts anyone ...

Our hospital just went with M*Modal. We are getting laid off in a couple of months. I am curious to know the answer to this question. We have three doctors that stand out way ahead of the rest of our doctors with their HORRIBLE dictation. I MEAN HORRIBLE! I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years and on my current account for almost 2. Recently a LOT of changes have happened at the acct. manager level, and everybody is looking to me for help getting things under control and have also started asking me to do QA. However, I still get paid to type by the line and a flat rate per report QA'ed. I have a few questions about VR. Does the dictation translated by VR need limits on how fast the dictation is spoken, or can the audio be slowed down to accomodate? On what sort of dictation will VR not work? If you use VR presently, do you feel you could transcribe and proof faster uisng straight transcription instead?
