I am starting to see a trend here with companies hiring MTs at 6 cpl enticing them with easy doctors, tons of work, and once off of QA "you are bumped up to 7 to 7.5 cpl." When asked, "Typically, how long does it take to get off of QA?" The answer always is, "No one is ever on QA for more than 2 weeks or we let them, go...1-2 days typically." What tends to happen after the first day or two, they begin to add the worst dictators to the pool, thus making it more and more difficult to achieve the goal of coming off of QA; meaning that they are counting off for blanks (we all know most MTs do not leave blanks unless they cannot understand what is being said in the first place), QA changing their mind on formatting and not being consistent in feedback, and every other trick in the book to keep the MT at 6 cpl. When asked, "When do you think I will be able to come off of QA," the answer is "Oh, you are doing a great job, within the next couple of days," and then the cycle starts all over again, more hard doctors tossed into the pool, etc.
I do not how many of you have experienced this, but it is time we open our eyes to what is happening here because this is the new trend that some MTSOs are using to get MTs to work extremely low wages with open-ended promises of "We will increase you once off of QA." It used to be with most companies, if you are on QA after 30 days, you were let go, let alone six months. The bottom line, it may be unethical, but it is not illegal.
