what is average hourly rate paid by major healthcare system - donna

for transcriptionists. Always been paid by line count production and now I am looking at an hourly rate. Company won't tell me pay rate until interview. Afraid that it will only be like $10 an hour and don't want to bother with interview if it will be too low.

It is extremely hard to answer that question. Pay rates vary tremendously depending upon where you live. An MT in California might make $20/hr where as an MT in Indiana might make $12/hr (and I live in neither so this is a generalization) Depends upon the cost of living in that area. In my area, pay rates even vary by city or town significantly. Honestly, if you want the job, just go to the interview and hope for the best. Whatever the salary at least you get a steady paycheck and benefits!

If it helps, I worked in-house about 5 years ago and made about $12.50/hr in central PA with AWESOME benefits.... I really miss that job. Don't underestimate benefits when considering what they offer you!

I am in Florida. Hospital pay here is between $14/hr to $22/hr. We do all work types including radiology. Hope this helps.

I make over $18.00 per hour and get shift differential and time and a half for weekends, and holidyas. Moneywise inhouse is the place to be.. it's just that there are very few jobs these days in house.

Also, how much experience do Account Manager/Shift Manager types have? Years ago I worked for a couple of MTSOs and my "supervisors" had less experience than me (and would have to ask me to figure out blanks in reports) so I'm guessing its often just a matter of how long you've been there and who you know and sometimes how much you're willing to put up with (one supervisor bragged that she worked about 20 hours a day). ...

Last week I asked what you all thought was a fair hourly rate for a one-doctor clinic MT. I went to the interview on Tuesday. The job ad was for a "medical records transcriptionist."
