I am with a company who works with legal documents. I just started. In order for me to go full-time I would need to type 75 pages a day. Does anyone have experience with this type of pay? And is it unreasonable? I'm just scared I won't live up.

How many lines per page? 25? More - sm

It depends on if the work page is double-spaced or single. Hearings? Interviews? Audio quality? A lot depends on the formatting.

I was typing IMEs for BWC for an ortho clinic in downtown LA. Everything was a template. The doctor would fill out these papers and we would just fill in the blanks on a template we had preloaded in our computer. The IME report was something like 7 pages long Anyway, I made money hand over fist back then. We would bill the doctor per report and he would bill the attorney it was very easy work.

It is 1.50 for every page, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Has anyone had experience with this?

Excluding headers and footers, there were about 30 or so lines per page based on a standard 8 x 11-1/2 inch page with 1-inch margins all around with standard Times Roman 12 point font. I think I maxed out at $2.30 a page in 2003 when the company got a platform and started hiring in a 7 cpl and I was pushed out.

What you are asking is a bit hard to nail down to be able to compare apples to apples. I was doing med transcription, you are doing legal. I was producing work in WP 5.1, you are probably producing in MS Word. There are a lot of factors to weigh to say yes or no to whether you're going to make it at $1.50 a page. I had years of experience, you don't state yours. Lots of variables.

The math example you gave is 72 x $1.50 equals $112 a day. I guess you need to know your skill set, speed, formatting issues, and how comfortable you are at that pay rate.

I was wondering if anyone has been paid by the page as opposed to by the line. If so, what do you think of $1.75 per 1.5 pages of typing and $2.25 for 2 pages of typing...is that too low? and about what does that average out to, approximately. (no good with math). TIA. ...

I have a question about Smartype and I will try to make it so it is understandable:) I bought Instant Text because I had to have some way of moving my Smartype over into Word 2007 (I had Word 2002). I have Instant Text turned off until I learn the new platform on the new company I am with. My problem is this, the Smartype line will not move with the page so when I get to the bottom of the page it covers up everything at the bottom and I can only manually move Smartype by scrolling back up ...

I am working in Word 2007. I am trying to make a template that has a different first page top margin. Can anyone give me some help? I have searched on MT Stars but can't seem to find anything. I have been transcribing for many years from home and I usually use per line rates. However, I have a Dr. that is interested in using my service, but they send all the info by internet and I would just have to type everything up.
