just curious to know names of MTSOs who - curious

pay more than 8 or 8.5 cents a line straight typing and 3.5 to 4 for VR. I know there are some as I have seen them post, but I am drawing blanks thoughts. I am not looking to apply just more or less curious. I interviewed for a .07 job today for part-time work and just in general coversation with interviewer she said there were some that paid as much as 10 but she didn't mention any names of course. Is anyone out there willing to share info, just curious. TIA

There are small mom and pop shops that are paying that much and more but some of those pay based on your resume and backing it up. You'd have to really do some personal research to know what you'd be offered. 7 is the average it seems for the mid-size gigs who want you to believe they can't afford to pay more.

Was 10 and 6 at MM, I was tier 3 and I believe that was - top tier 3 pay. No longer an MT tho.

I am not applying, I have a job that pays 8, and starting part time that pay 7, because I am in a sinking ship. I am barely staying afloat. Why not give up the information if you know it to help other MTs. You discourage new MTs because of the pay and bad mouth companies that are probably actually GOOD to keep them from applying and the way the profession is now. So why not lend a helping hand to those who have devoted their whole life to this, who probably feel the say way, that they just need a little more pay. These companies don't do a continuous hire, they only hire when they need to so it's not jeopardizing any one. You know there are some MTs out there only making 5 or 6 that probably have families to help take care of. If in the future they could periodically look into other places or be on the lookout for much better pay why not help out. Geezeâ�¦don't be so greedy HAVE A HEARTâ�¦â�¦â�¦ I needed to add thisâ�¦

the company I work for is paying 7 now and when I hired on 5 years ago paid 8. This is just wrong

just because someone pays 8 doesnt mean they are hiring - so what is the point?

If they let the names out, they would be flooded with 100s of applications and there are others out there in the same need. You just need to get out there and send applications and find out yourself who is paying that. That's how everyone else does it.

I was paid 9 cpl M-F and 10 cpl on weekends and late evenings (if I wanted to work them). That was at SoftScript. I just recently quit due to finding a job that better fit my needs without a set schedule, otherwise it was an okay place to work. I also did QA there, about half MT work and half QA work. SS is 100% straight typing.

MModal top pay is 10/6. - nm

I remember in the late 90s, an op report at my company was 12 hours, a discharge summary was 48 hours. I think H&Ps were even 8-12 hours; if there was one that was truly stat the hospital would call and it would be done sooner. Can someone explain to me why, if I get paid by the line, I spend so much time looking up doctor names, facility names, the local burger joint, etc, but I don't get paid for that? ?? I am going to throw in the towel with transcription and look for a job that pays by the hour. This line stuff is a joke. Anyone notice their W2 now actually says Nuance Transcription Services and no longer Transcend DBA Nuance... Last year there were lots of comments about our W2's (all of us, not just those who came in from Transcend) saying Transcend. I even wrote HR to see what was up with that. They never told us about the change to Transcend and certainly didn't mention the change back to Nuance. Oh well. Just an observation. ...

Does anyone else ever have a problem with a doctor/nurse, etc. who sends out letters or just on regular reports who gives no complete names or addresses? We have a place to go look them up but it does sometimes take a chunk out of my time doing it. One or two minutes means a lot sometimes. I have one doctor who dictates letters to "Dr. Smith, Dr. Jones," etc. and there are only about 10 of each of those listed and sometimes you cannot tell what the specialty is to look it up.&n ...

So, this being the most friendly and up-to-date board around regarding MT practices, can I get some opinions about the HIPAA 'privacy rule' and your doctors using patient names in their notes, clinic or otherwise. I am not sure how an HIM department can say to a physician how using a patient name in a transcribed report is not going against the Privacy rule in HIPAA. When do you capitalize departments? I have been in the biz for 10 years, and my current QA staff is giving me conflicting feedback on my capitalization. One QA manager is giving me errors for not capitalizing, the other is giving me errors when I do! How annoying is that? There are a few doctors on my account that don't bother inputting the patient name into the demographics, don't spell it, don't give a date of service...they just say a name and start dictating. They do this for every report, and it's been that way since I started working here! I have a rule where I only try 2 spellings of the name to find the patient. Otherwise it gets pended.
