Legal rates for this type of work are different than MT - nm

I was wondering if the $0.5 per word, no spaces, is only during probation. Once off probation, maybe it would go up. How do you come up with 6 cpl? That is still too low.

I took a page of my own dictation - and added up the words

and came to 140 words per page x 0.05 = $7.00 per page. no spaces. Since one of my clients pays me $2 per page, I think that is pretty good...but maybe I did something wrong too. who knows.

in the old days a word consisted an average 5 characters, like lines are - average 65 characters per. NM

I figured it out and compared it to my rate with a general transcription company I do work for and it was considerably less than what I was making, so nothing to brag about.

A half of a penny for every word ?? - best hope they are 2-letter words!

Here are some stats using TOOLS in WORD - HORRID PAY

331 words at 0.005 = $1.65

1986 characters with spaces = 30.55 lines
6 cpl = $1.83

1632 w/o spaces = 25.10 lines
6 cpl = $1.51

No matter HOW you calculate... it is HORRID pay

I'm sitting and taking fake figures and seeing what my pay would be with the old rates. Two separate rates for speech/typed. Then taking the new pay scale and same amount of lines, converting them and using the grid. I use it as if I got over 10% and under 99%. It is only a difference of a few dollars. and, in my case, ASR saves about 25% to 30% of time versus straight transcription, so the fact that I personally am only making 50% of my regular line rate on ASR is the reason my paychecks have gotten so pitiful. The bottom line is MM has to know ASR is not helping us do the reports twice as fast, so they are purposely not paying us fairly for ASR. What I would like to know is are they giving the clients a 50% discount on ASR reports? ...

I recently read a job posting that required 150 lph for straight type and 225 for VR - Does this make sense ? If QC is over 10%, then the pay is 7/3.5 pennies a line. If it's that amount and the speed is just about 100 lines or a little over that an hour, I think that would amount to below minimum wage, wouldn't it? So I think the 7/3.5 pennies a line pay rate automatically is equivalent to MUP--unless the MT is very speedy. 7/3.5 pennies a line pay rate is pretty ridiculous.
