I think it would depend on what account you are on; however, I will say that I found they pay just as good or even better than what I have seen out there when I was looking, as far as line rate. Especially, VR.

It's 4 cents on one account, 4.5 on another, 8 cents if you type the report (not VR), but those are rare and far between. With all the other changes they've made, like the $12 PTO wage they just implemented... 4 cents isn't worth jack crap. My PTO average the way TTMS used to do it was around $18 per hour. I won't work for anyone that pays me $12 an hour for holidays or vacation, when I make much more than that if I'm working.

Of course now, there's not enough work for anyone. Don't delude the OP about iMedX. They are dishonest and they are greedy. The OP needs to run very far away from this company, and honestly, from MT work in general. Not worth it.

Right now you can't count on any kind of consistent information on Imedx. They continue to make changes, lose accounts (off-shoring, other reasons), change our benefits. TransTech is approaching 1 year anniversary with Imedx (buy-out). Today I am waking up to yet another change, cutting hourly rate for vacation and sick time drastically. I imagine very shortly the next thing to come will be line rate. This company is very disorganized and inhumane in how they deal with their employees. I wouldn't make a choice to work for Imedx unless that was my only option for a job.

Good for you. Take all your vacation time now before we lose our jobs or that number gets dropped lower. I think that would be smart! Take advantage of the situation while it works out well for you?

Sorry, it was my poor attempt at being sarcastic. Sitting here with no work and looking at a blank screen while they take away vacation pay and there is little to no work makes me warped and bored and angry.

I've only got something like 12 hours accrued that I haven't used yet this year (to cover the MANY days of no work available). I'm leaving the company in a few weeks, so you can bet I'll use every penny of that before I'm gone.

Make us take all of our PTO pay at the time of the merger and then use up whatever else we had accrued by December 31. This is what these companies do. That way, when people start dropping like flies and quitting (which is their main objective), they don't have to pay any accruals (because we have NONE)... and no unemployment payouts. They're not going to fire you... they're going to let you sit here without work until you are forced to get another job.

Has anyone noticed a reduction in lines? I completed 2 speech documents this moring. ESL, but not terrible. I copied/pasted the body text (no headers/footers) into blank Word document and ran the Word Properties after each was completed. Together there were 13,375 keystrokes (VBC + spaces), and divided by 65 the total was 205.76923 lines. However, when I went to IChart I was only credited with completing 149.38 lines. We know you do not get headers counted, and we knew that with TT. YOU DO get spaces counted and included in your count. Copy your document, put in Word. Go to menu Tools, Word Count. You find the number for Characters With Spaces. Take that number and divide by 65. It always matches what Fluy reports, always. I do have some benefits with the VR job, but not good enough to even take them on right now. After 3 months I will start accruing PTO up to 12 days a year. Is it worth it? I was thinking having benefits would be really nice for once in the last 16 years, but now I am thinking it may not be worth the struggle to make a living on VR. I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. When a company states a line rate for a "65 printable character line" does that mean they do not pay for spaces? I saw an ad saying they pay the highest in the business, which was about 8.5 cents for 65 printable character line. That to me says without spaces, as it is not a printable character, so that would be a horrible rate surely not one of the best in the business. Wonder why there is no respect for our thumbs !!!! ...

It's beyond me why anyone would do VR for 0.03 per line or straight transcription for 0.07 per line, even 0.08 stinks. Are we all that desperate to let these companies get away with not paying a living wage? It's outrageous. As long as MTs send their resumes to these companies and apply for these positions, the longer it will take to bring us back to the pay level we deserve.
