Transtech MTs; how long did it take to re-build your pay - once you switched to EditScript? nm

I did too. VR ruined another good service, IMO. - nm

That's progress for you. VR ruined the industry except for the suits at the top. - I feel sorry for the MTs who spent a fortune for t

Not everyone hates VR, only those who cannot - do it
[ In Reply To ..]
There are excellent platforms. There is money to be made. Some people are just not cut out for it.
What a rude thing to say. The platform a company - sn
[ In Reply To ..]
chooses to use, the line rate, and the account make all the difference. You aren't going to make minimum wage at 2 or 3 cpl on M-Modal with horrible accounts, but you can do pretty good with Escription at 5 cpl. I believe the majority of people doing VR aren't LUCKY enough to have a good line rate, a good platform, AND a good account though, so be thankful you're one of the lucky ones and quit being condescending to those less fortunate than yourself.
If anyone does VR for 2-3 cents a line they are - probably newbies that cannot get other jobs
[ In Reply To ..]
The line rate should never be lower than 4, the accounts have absolutely NOTHING to do with if you can make good enough money, the platform is apparently the #1 thing anyone should consider in accepting a job, oh that and the the pay per line. But again, not all can do VR.
At 4 cpl, you'd have to crank out about 4000 lines a day - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
to make a decent living. It's difficult to crank out 4000 lines a day anyway, much less with any sort of quality in the reports. VR is really bad for our industry.

You obviously have a decent line rate, a good platform, and good dictators, so you're pro-VR right now. I wonder how you'll feel when your company loses that account or has layoffs & you end up working elsewhere. I believe the majority of MTs are really struggling with bad platforms and low line rates on VR.

Enjoy what you have while you still have it, but don't be so quick to judge others lest you end up in the same boat.
Only 1 thing you guessed was true and that was - a decent platform
[ In Reply To ..]
Again, it all has to do with the platform. I make 4 cents a line and I have ESLs all over the place BUT the platform is an excellent one and can pick up the ESLs as good as our English speaking dictators. If my company lost the acct, that would not be the first time this particular acct lost but I found it again at another company and started working there. I am not worried about the what ifs in life. I have to achieve a 98% or better and keep it there, no different from others here except the GOOD platform.
No VR at 1/2 line rate - MTer
[ In Reply To ..]
I did VR editing about 3 years ago when my pay was NOT cut in half. I got paid my normal line rate and NO less. Now the *suits* want our money and cut our pay in order to get their bonuses and freebies and a very high lifestyle!

We should not sell ourselves short of what we are worth! Why should these *suits* make all the money and the MT's, who make their living for them -- get their line rate cut in half!

NO WAY! DO NOT DO IT!
I agree because MTSOs are NOT charging the client half. - They are pocketing extra profit.
[ In Reply To ..]
Most clients pay the same line rate and have NO IDEA that VR is being used. The MTSOs are getting rich & we're making next to nothing.
The client I was outsourced from, a hospital, knows 100% we are - using VR because were told that as employees
[ In Reply To ..]
When working inhouse, we learned VR and then outsourced to a company. We were TOLD we would be using VR at the company and that is exactly what has happened. I know in my case what you are stating is not true.
At the company I work for, none of the clients know. - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
x
I think I will call you on that. I would venture to say no one - associated with a company knows
[ In Reply To ..]
for sure the clients are in the dark about VR. On the other hand, I can say with 100% accuracy the place I was outsourced from trained us on VR and I was there when trained and when outsourced to the company who still does their work. Unless you have contact with the place where ALL the work comes from, I doubt your statement.
When we asked on a conf. call if the dictators could be told - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
something about what VR does when they say a certain thing, they TOLD US the clients don't even know we're using VR & that we just have to adapt & correct it. Again, OUR SUPERVISORS TOLD US THE CLIENTS DO NOT KNOW WE'RE USING VR. That's how I know. It's really not a big secret that companies are doing this, switching to VR without the client knowing so they can cut the MTs' pay and pocket the extra money.
Again in my case I was actually there- no guessing, - no second hand talk from others
[ In Reply To ..]
First of all, that second hand talk from the conference call would never stand up in court for the truth. You do know that, right? I was there in house before VR, when we were told was going to VR, when we trained there for VR and when we were told 2 companies were going to do the VR and we could choose which company we wanted to go with- still inhouse, mind you. Am still doing the same inhouse work using VR through the company. I really do not care what other companies do but I can say for certainy that I know, not just second hand talk. I knew going into VR what the pay was, no secret in anything done. I think others guess being as they were not there from the start. Oh BTW, the way I hear supv talked about around here I would not bet my next paycheck on what one would say.
Good grief. YOUR hospital - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
was told. That does not mean MY COMPANY tells their clients. This is a small company, so my supervisors know what they're talking about. I believe you that your hospital was told, but I don't understand why you think EVERY client knows just because YOUR ONE hospital knows.

When I was a team lead for a different company a couple of years ago where we offshored & had started trying out VR, we were specifically instructed to never mention in any communication with the clients that we offshored or used VR. Not all companies are the same you know.......
I agree, clients have to be told that VR will be used and they are..sm - .
[ In Reply To ..]
going to be charged less if they buy the system. This is the MAIN incentive for the clients to buy a VR system.
Not to disclose this fact is FRAUD by the VR vendors and the MTSOs. Don't you think that 1 MTSOs or VR vendor would blow the whistle on this?
One company I worked for would take the - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
voice files & run them through the VR system. This was done with M-Modal. The clients had no idea & didn't have any additional software installed.
Gonna be the first to break this news apparently - VRing
[ In Reply To ..]
Even BEFORE VR when doing regular MTing, the companies ALWAYS charged more than we as MTers made. This is not news for anyone who has worked like this in the past. Nothing new.
It's pretty low of them to - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
for example, go from paying MTs 8 cpl and charging the clients 12 cpl, to then paying the MTs 4 cpl doing VR which takes just as much time but still charging the clients the 12 cpl. I just really don't think that's right. But what comes around goes around, and someday I hope their greed catches up to them.
That's BS. My line count is up... - pl
[ In Reply To ..]
...but not twice as much as I was typing before. I've been a transcriptionist for about 10 years, so it's not a lack of skill...! When they pay you roughly half for VR that they did for traditional and then make all your work VR, you would have to be typing twice as much to make the same salary...Think about it. Although I think this is just one of the VR shills on the board who love to tout it because their company is asking them to do so. My personal theory is that this is a good way to make their current (US) transcriptionists jump ship, because nobody here can get by on a piddly little salary like I'm making now.
I work on VR every single day and you do not type - twice as much on VR
[ In Reply To ..]
You should be typing a lot less, not more. Maybe this is the problem with you not making what you think you should. I do not give my company name (so you assumption is out) and I do not give the platform I work on. Guess you will have to start guessing more. I make an excellent salary, not a piddly one like you are saying.
They have MANDATED that our line count go up... - pl
[ In Reply To ..]
...and if we can't hit the quota, we're out of there. So we all have to type more lines--but we're all making only half our salaries. Do you think all these people are lying, or every single one of them is unskilled? There can't be that much difference between the VR programs. The difference is that TT is now paying us half of the former rate per line, "expecting" we will producing twice as many lines per day (which they know full well that we cannot unless we literally have no lives, families, hobbies, friends, etc. and also are logging in and working before and after our scheduled hours--resulting in no/low work for other MTs).
First of all I do not know who TT is - and very seldom have I
[ In Reply To ..]
done twice as much but do enough to make what I want and I do not think 20-25 dollars per hour is a bad salary.
I did over $163 today on my VR and would have done more if - the next to last dictation I had today
[ In Reply To ..]
was STRAIGHT typing of over 8 minutes by a new ESL who not only was ESL but also spoke like Elmer Fudd!!! I despise straight transcription, just despise it.
So you did over 4000 VR lines at 4 CPL today? That's admirable. - How long have you been on your account? nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Does anyone else hit 4000 lines a day? - impressed
[ In Reply To ..]
I thought I was pretty fast and I am lucky I can get the required 2600 lines a day in 8 hours. Is 4000 lines the norm?? If so...what platform is it??
I think you're line count is more the norm. - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
x
Long time on the acct but having said that, the dictators are - changing more and more
[ In Reply To ..]
More ESLs than I care to talk about. I work only on 1 acct all the time, do not want to work on others. The amount I made today was not entirely VR, I only wish it could be. I did 434 lines at straight today also and that is 8 cents per line.
well, let's see...the post up top says TRANS TECH and I wonder what those initials would be... - 4qjn7j

Now that there are unrealistic quotas in order to maintain insurance, I am - definitely gone. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It's certainly just not TT. All the services seem to be following this trend. As long as most MT's continue to take the constant pay cuts, wages will continue to go down. VR has finally given me the push I need to get into another field where at least I'll have a regular 9 to 5 life. $8 an hour isn't worth it just for the privilege of working at home. Someone hand me the pantyhose.
NO LIFE WITH VR - VRhater
[ In Reply To ..]
I have been doing VR for years with Editscript, am very fast and still don't make a decent paycheck. I have to work at least ten hours a day just to make any kind of pay which has taken away my life because I have to make a living. I have finally had enough with this VR and transcription industry the way it is and am FINALLY moving on to something else. This is sooo wrong what is happening.
VRhater, what would you make working 10 hours a - day on your platform, is it
[ In Reply To ..]
that bad you just cannot make a go of it? I will make about $175 for today and that is an 8 hour day only.
WOW - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
What platform do you work on? I supposedly have one of the best platforms. I have never made more than $110.00 a day, moving at a fast pace with VR. I usually have to do more than 8 hours. Very low pay and eyes can't take it anymore!
the cpl on "excellent" platforms is 2 cents...NO moneymakers!..nm - excellent?
[ In Reply To ..]

Who in the world told you excellent only pays - 2 cents per line, where
[ In Reply To ..]
does that come from?

Still trying... - NOT possible.

Im a high producer, been doing this job for MANY years, have VR all the way up past 150% and still not happening.

Hope you have better luck than me.

What is VR past 150%? - L

Transtech pay - ME2

If you don't mind my asking, where did... - cc

[ In Reply To ..]
...you go? Please feel free to email me if you don't want to post here. I'm sooooo sick of being screwed. I know that if I don't work extra hours, I won't make even slightly reasonable pay, but if I do, I will screw other MTs out of work. I don't want to do either. Thank you very much.

TransTech TOTALLY IGNORES Wage/Hour Laws - Expose Them

[ In Reply To ..]
This company needs to be heavily leaned on. If you are making a good living there and working the hours you intend, good for you. You are lucky and one of the few. Of course, it is possible. It depends on your assignment. BUT, the owners/management are deaf to any issues raised. Everyone is sugar sweet until you have a problem, then they move into IGNORE STATUS. They do not provide a way to document the hours worked, overtime hours worked, they do not post labor laws, they do not respond to payroll errors. They behave like a contractor arrangement when it suits them, but pull out the employer/employee card when they want to control your hours. Read the labor laws and call this company on it. They need to be put out of business. I am fixing to quit ASAP. If you go to work for them, you may find a decent situation, but bank on it, they won't help assure that one happens for you.

I wish I could find others to get with me on this - cc

I've really enjoyed working with them--until just recently.

We are a pretty big company, and we think we know what transcriptionists want, but it doesn't hurt to ask.  There are a lot of top people in our industry that are finding themselves without jobs, often without notice, both managers and transcriptionists.  I think that the tide is turning, and that we need to make sure that we treat our people right, so if you could take a few minutes and answer this, maybe we can make a difference.  I am asking for real answers, ones that ar ...

Hi there fellow TT MTs:)  Do any of you ever have trouble with QA at TT.  Lately, I have been afraid to send anything in for correction, particularly 1 person, who dissects my reports down to crossing my Ts and dotting my Is.   I know she is probably just doing her job well, and I know being in QA is a hard job, but this is getting depressing. I started a new thread because I noticed your question about TransTech waaaay down at the bottom of the page and with no responses yet, so here goes...
