some part-timers anyway, why not offer weekends to part-timers and offer some Mon-Fri shifts for the experienced full-time MTs you're trying to get..... That's about the only way you're going to get many experienced quality MTs. And there are always plenty of MTs looking for part-time weekend work as a 2nd job.

how about making all of your full-timers do the Wednesday through Sunday shift and us part-times will fill in for Mondays and Tuesdays.

That works better for me. I am pretty sure that us part-timers would like to have a weekend off as well. Thanks!

I never said I only want to work 2 days a week. My friend, I work 6 days a week scheduled and sometimes 7.

I like the fact that they make the full-timers work 1 weekend day as this allows us part-timers to also have a weekend day off.

No, not all part-timers WANT to work evenings and weekends. I want to work mornings on my first part-time job and afternoons on my second part-time job and don't WANT to work any evenings or weekends, just like you!

Sorry, but there is no such thing in this field.

experience and test extremely well. I hold out for Monday-Friday full-time work, and I'm worth it. ;)

People shouldn't work in health care if they don't understand 24/7. It's not just - a job to let you work at home at your convenience.

on the crap-shifts, and now some of the newer ones can have those. Better yet, the part-timers are LOOKING for evening and weekend work as a 2nd job, so let them do it. We aren't doctors or nurses making the big bucks to work those shifts for crying out loud.

If not, they cannot make you work any shift or day of the week. How about them apples?

If they are hiring ICs, they need to hire enough that can provide the service. Of course, don't cry when there is no work during the week! LOL

I most certainly will work at my convenience. If they want to hire me as employee, then I will work a shift and they can pay me a differential for nights and weekends just like everyone else in the healthcare profession. If they want me to be available for STATs, I'll take an hourly rate plus whatever lines I do in addition to that hourly rate just like other healthcare professionals get for being on-call!

Just because this is an at-home work environment does not mean they can walk all over us. I am using my equipment, my electric, my supplies as an IC, and I am providing them with a service. They will not tell me when or how or where to work while I do provide that service.

Accepted a position with TransTech a couple of months ago and have consistently run out of work on almost a daily basis, always on weekends. Yet every time I look, they are still hiring more MTs? WTF is going on? I am no longer an MT, but I still care about a lot of people who are still TRYING to work at the Q. Just popped over to mtjobs and the Q has an ad on there for MTs wishing to embark on a world class....etc. It's unacceptable that the Q doesn't let anyone know what is going on at the MT level, starve out all the experienced ones they "acquired," then offshore to Inida and hire a bunch of newbies. I want to work a part time job to supplement my other part time job at Nuance because sometimes there is no work. I see an opening at TTS but when reviewing posts about TTS it sounds like a bad place to work with incompetent recruiters and managers. It seems 95% of the posts are bad regarding TTS. The ad they have placed here indicates wanting 40 people for new accounts, etc. However, I just received an email about job openings for only 2 very heavy ESL 1-9 shifts. Is this just a scam so that employers don't have to pay benefits and employer taxes? I bet if there was an audit, most ICs and MTSOs would be in trouble for using that classification improperly, especially for the full-time positions. I even applied for a full-time secretarial job in a small law office recently, and was told I would be hired as a contractor with no benefits. I was stunned and declined. I see ads for Medtrans all over the internet for all different cities and you go to their website and it seems they are pushing you to take their course and then they will hire you. I am just confused because I keep seeing the companies advertise for months, yet they seem to say "no" a lot. They only hire for 2nd shift and that is to do the leftover, picked-through work from 1st shift. There is no way to make good money going this, though they give you a month to get up to 135 lph, which at 8.5 cpl is a whopping 11.48/hour.
