question for any Transtech-ers out there - pl

Posted: Jan 06, 2010

Just out of curiosity, are any of you who have been switched to much more VR than traditional (at the halved pay rate) actually making as much or more than you did before?

I am a TT-er, and love TT.... - but

What do you mean by that? Plus question for seasoned TT'rs/ - Newer TTr - 3 years

I'm hoping things will be okay, but I noticed my insurance will be higher than what we had. We live in a small, rural area. We haven't even gotten our new cards yet and don't know if we are covered with insurance or not. I'm starting to get a wee bit antsy here over this.

The last plan we had was a very good one. I don't know why they had to change.

To seasoned TT MT's, do they switch every year? If so, I'm afraid I'll have to find something better; 3 years, 3 insurance companies is too much for even our docs, let alone our pharmacy to deal with and they are getting a little peeved.

I also live in a rural area and got my card today...sm - sm

I called the insurance company and found out that it is not Blue Cross. There are only two hospitals where I live and neither are in their network, and there are only 3 doctors covered under their network (and of course these are docs I will probably never see). So, the insurance is pretty much useless for me. My deductible would be $4000 bucks for going out of network. I am hoping I can cancel it. I hope you are not in this situation. This is the first time I have seen them change insurance companies in the 3 years I have been there. I highly recommend when you get your card to call them and see if there are network providers in your area.
Just what I wanted to hear--NOT!! - Newer TTr - 3 years

That's odd. TT stated it was Blue Cross.

They also stated it was going to be cheaper than what we had, but it isn't. Even the vision is higher. I liked the BC/BS we had before.

Evidently, TT forgot about "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I may be jumping to conclusions because I don't know what our old plan was going to cost in 2010, so it may be that they are comparing our old plan cost with the new one and that's where they come up with the new plan being cheaper.
Maybe they meant cheaper for them, more expensive for us! nm - nm

I had the same confusion with the insurance, but after research...sm - as

and speaking with our HR department, I found that there are providers in my area and I also live in a smaller town. I recommend contacting the new payroll/benefits company. They are very helpful and answered all my questions. My insurance is actually about 30 bucks cheaper each month.

glad it's not just me - pl

Thanks, all of y'all--I'm glad it's not just me. I wish there was something we could do about this. It will be interesting if they see a mass exodus out of there. I for one would be happier if they would just up the line count for VR. Cutting it literally almost in half is just too much. And I too was told it would be Blue Cross--I'd just switched to a new PCP, who now is no longer in my network. I've really enjoyed working for this company up to this point...I know these companies feel they need to make the doctors happy, but wow--this is sort of a triple whammy on us.

I am making less, but...sm - MT

I think a lot of it has to do with the holiday lull we have had. Once work picks up and I can work a full steady day, I will be making what I was when we did straight typing. I am about to have a baby and have had a difficult pregnancy, and TT has been more than understanding and gave me time off when I needed it. Plus they are giving me paid maternity leave, which is rare in this industry! It's the small things like these that are priceless to me and make them a good company.

TransTech QA
Sep 04, 2010

Hi there fellow TT MTs:)  Do any of you ever have trouble with QA at TT.  Lately, I have been afraid to send anything in for correction, particularly 1 person, who dissects my reports down to crossing my Ts and dotting my Is.   I know she is probably just doing her job well, and I know being in QA is a hard job, but this is getting depressing. I am not a newbie by any means, and I know my job well.  Not criticizing here, just a little perplexed I guess.  Thanks everyone! ...

To MT Looking/TransTech
Mar 08, 2012

I started a new thread because I noticed your question about TransTech waaaay down at the bottom of the page and with no responses yet, so here goes... In my personal experience, nothing has changed from the older posts.  Even today, I have 4 accounts and I'm currently waiting for work to come into my queue.  If you can get in with TransTech as a favorite, you can make BIG money doing 98% OP notes (about 30,000 lines per pay period).  But, if you're just a regular, ...

Anything New At TransTech????
Jul 19, 2012

Usually there are lots of posts here about TT.  Just wondering what is going on now.  I was hired and supposed to start work there, but could not work with satellite.  For some reason, the EditScript would not come up.  So I got rid of satellite and had Verizon Wireless installed.  So far this is working pretty good.  Much better than satellite -- knock on wood.  Hopefully I can start working again.  ...

I've been with TT for about 6 years but was recently offered an in house job at 4x the pay and really great benefits.
