Looking for a really great company for transcription from home. Not very happy with current employer. Who is the best company to work for? Any recommendations?
Those lucky enough to work for a "great" company... - sm

mostly keep that information to themselves. I know I would. When I find one, I will most definitely not be making that information public knowledge. With so little work to go around, most people want to keep their great jobs all to themselves.

that what is important to one person is not important to another. A job that someone might think is horrible would be another person's ideal job. You know the saying, "One man's meat is another man's poison." Asking which companies are "wonderful" or "good" is a meaningless question. As we used to say in those painful days in algebra, there are too many unknowns to solve the equation. I do hope you are looking for.

I meant to say that I do hope you FIND what you are looking for. Too early on the West Coast and Old Pro needs more coffee! BTW, what would be important to me would be time to play with my passions--no, not George Clooney, but walking/petting/playing with the Rotties and Dobies. Other people would likely have other priorities.
i urge u to inquire about doing transcription at social service agencies. they are overwhelmed with their paperwork. i work for a psychotherapist. he is extremely busy and tells me typing his own notes is one less thing he has to worry about. u can market yourself by telling them they can carry around a hand held dictator and dictate while they are in the car going to their next session. i pick up at the end of the week and finish by the end of the next week. it is a general transcription, few m ...
I am a medical transcriptionist with 26 years experience. The company I currently work for (for the past 8 years) is phasing out long-distance teleworkers. There are so many companies out there. Can someone give me advice on which ones are the best to work for? Your help is much appreciated. ...
I work at home for the local hospital/clinic and have for the last 12 years doing transcription. Now all of a sudden we switched to a new system and a lot of the doctors are doing voice recognition and we are doing more editing of reports than typing. Also, I used to work a solid 8 hours a day from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Now I have to get up at 4 a.m. to grab work till about 8 a.m., and then there is no work till around noon. Even after that it is sporadic, hit and miss.&nbs ...
Does anyone know of any companies out there that are hiring IC MTs? My one company is very slow and am looking for supplemental work.
Thanks so much. ...
It is just me or does it seems as if the transcription third party companies are focused more on acute care transcription than any other specialty. I have been a radiology transcriptionist for over 20 years. The company I worked for decided to eliminate 13 of us F/T transcriptionists since they converted to VR system and they kept a few aboard. Apparently the radiologists are being trained to edit their own reports. That being said, I'm searching high and low for a F/T position for a radiol ...
I have tried to click on the jobs on this web site to apply to them and when I click on the "Apply Now" it does not take me to the site. Does anyone know the answer to why this happens? I did not get the impression it is something you have to pay to belong to. Thanks for your help. ...
wanting you to give them a set schedule during set hours and days? Also, how many hours you have to do during those set times? Is that what IC is nowadays? I see the benefit for them, but where's the benefit for me? Am I missing something? ...
Does anyone know of medical transcription jobs scams? Offering jobs, no contracts, HIPPA or other documentation required or at least not initially.....want SS# but does not need a 1099 signed? six hour time difference...just checking if anyone knows or has experienced? ...
Did I download something wrong, or am I hitting the jackpot and getting all transcription jobs? This is an account I usually work on and these are usually speech rec jobs... ...
Transcription Doctors terminates 16 people out of their jobs and shorts pay.
Today, 16 MT/QA staff were terminated without notice and only when staff began to voice concern with complaints did an email get sent out. The email briefly mentioned that termination was due to either not working enough hours or poor quality, though this author knows of people who have been shorted on their paychecks when checks were received today and questioned why. It's not confirmed whether ...
It is insulting to all of us with the way that MT pay has gone down the drain, it is frustrating and aggravating to look for a "decent" job these days, trying to work out which companies will treat you fairly, which ones lie about their platforms, work, etc., and not only do these companies not want to pay us what we are worth but now I see that MANY companies are requiring the MT to have or "be willing" to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of equipment. If an employer can PROMISE IN ...
Kind of wondering if this last job posting on the jobs board might be associated with one of those "you pay us to find you a job" type of organization. I googled Medical Jobs Online and found nothing stating that are a legitimate MTSO :( ...
I tried entering my ID plus dep on the Fluency for Transcription page and it said my account was inactive. Okay, so I tried twice with Remedy to get it reactivated. Both times I got emails telling me it was working. Tried again and no luck. Am I on the right page, the one with the hideous orange splash, the same one we use to find our stats? Any help appreciated, I really don't want to have to call tech support if I don't have to. Do I even need to d ...
I would appreciate any input anyone may have on these 3 companies. I have tried to find out about them through their local BBB, but only Net Med Transcription has anything on it. Thanks. ...
These eScription, Nuance, EMR, etc. posts are all very sobering. Does anybody think that we'll all be out of jobs in 5 years, 3 years??? and will we be cut loose quickly or slowly phased out? given enough notice?? etc.?? I think I'm getting to the point where working in a grocery store is starting to look more and more appealing. The thing that contradicts all this is that most of the companies constantly beg for extra work, higher production, consis ...
On almost every thread somebody mentions their finances are in dire straights. And on almost every thread somebody whose life is just peachy demands to know why they "let" their finances get shaky and why they didn't just "get another job before things got so bad". We are not sitting around just wringing our hands, as is so often implied. Many of us have been applying, constantly, for months; with more entering the job search every day, the competition gets harder and hard ...
I have been looking for work for almost 3 months and not even a bite. I am so frustrated. I have also been looking for work outside the MT field, have had a few interviews, but still unable to secure employment. Does anyone know if anyone is hiring for PT? ...
I recently changed my health care to Kaiser and have observed first hand and for the first time, the use of electronic medical records; they really are of immeasurable assistance to each provider who is treating the patient. Nevertheless, there are still certain physicians who must dictate, i.e., surgeons, consultants, certain medical specialists. There will undoubtedly be fewer jobs for MTs but there will still be jobs for those who can transcribe those reports. It will a ...

Remarks by the President at U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue Reception
ow, it’s been said -- and Hillary alluded to this -- that there are two kinds of people in the world —- those who do the work and those who take the credit. There’s a corollary to the saying: Try to be in the first group because there’s much less competition. (Laughter.) It&rsqu ...
I just ran into a local job already, MOWING GRASS. The lady's lawn mowing man just finished school and is quitting the mowing. She paid him $1400 last month to mow, run the weedeater, keep weeds out of the flowers, etc. ($25 an hour).
My husband does handyman work and is always being asked to mow or if he knows anyone. He hates it. I like it. I think I just might take this on. (Probably for less money, though. She thought that was too much, b ...
I know this was posted earlier. I know we received email from our CEO. So, we are sold to CBAY as of March 4?

So, I am about to finish a medical transcription certificate program through a community college. I have started going through these boards and I am starting to get nervous about job possibilities. Most postings are about how horrible the industry is and how impossible it is to get a job. I've been working on this for 2 years now and I'm starting to get nervous that it's been for, potentially, nothing. Any advice? ...
For everyone who has had NJA lately (myself included) go to www.medquist.com and read this story on their front page "
"Duke Primary Care eliminates transcription costs with SpeechQ."
SpeechQ is the MQ program that eliminates the MT/editor altogether and MDs edit the reports themselves. Duke Family Clinic alone is now doing 8,000 jobs PER WEEK this way, thereby eliminating our job from the whole picture. What doesn't go to India goes to SpeechQ. The writing is on th ...
